Visiting Arkansas: Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources Foundation
I love living in the Natural State and have recently added visiting all of the Arkansas State Parks and sharing a little about each of them with you to my bucket list. My first stop is to the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources. I hope you enjoy, and trust me, the videos will get better as I go along.
The Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources is located on HWY 7 just south of the town of Smackover.
While visiting the museum you will get the opportunity to learn about oil and bromine. Then, hop on the elevator and take a trip back in time to 200,000,000 years ago to learn how oil was formed, and then to the early 1900s when it was made popular by the Industrial Revolution.
Once off the elevator, you have a fantastic view of Boomtown. You can walk the streets of this 1920s oil town. Take a look inside the supply store, jail, and other small town shops. While walking the “streets” of Boomtown you can see old trucks and a circus wagon that belonged to the “Goat Woman”.
Stop at the Tinkering Studio for some hands on crafts and tinkering for the kids and learn about products that rely on oil and bromine for production. Once you are done inside, you can head outdoors to follow the trails around the park. There’s even more to see while outside, including, dereks and other equipment used in the oil industry.
When you decide to visit the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources, make sure you check out their calendar for any fun events they may be having. For example, look for the dates of the Natural State Chautauqua in June, Tinkerfest in July, Fall Fest in October, and Holiday Lights that run certain weekends in November and December.
For more information about the museum you can head to the Arkansas State Park website or the museum’s facebook page and I’ll post the links to both of them in the description below. I hope that you enjoyed this look at the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources, and I encourage you to keep an eye out for more videos as I plan on visiting as many state parks as possible and will be posting videos about them as I check them off my list.
Thank you for watching.

Toltec Mounds Archeological State Park-wildlife viewing, Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources, Ft. Smith National Historic Site
You wouldn't normally expect to find wildlife viewing opportunities at an archeological park, but that's not the case at Toltec Mounds Archaeological State Park near Scott. A hidden gem in the southern part of the state near Smackover, is the Arkansas Museum of Natural Resources which portrays the 1920's oil boom in that area. Fort Smith National Historic Site is a special place where you can walk where Mexican War and Civil War soldiers drilled, pause along the Trail of Tears and witness where justice was served.

Energy Advances Arkansas - Pat's Testimonial
Natural gas and oil production is helping fuel Arkansas' economy. Local sales and property taxes resulting from Fayetteville Shale activities from 2008 through the end of 2012 are estimated to surpass $150 million.
In a single year, the direct impact of the Fayetteville Shale exceeded $1.7 billion. That money is helping communities thrive, creating over 20,000 oil and natural gas jobs with average salaries over $74,000. The goal of every local producer has become a reality -- Arkansas' abundant energy is advancing our state and nation.
Backyard Oil Barons? Exxon Pipeline Breaks in Arkansas
backyard oil barons?
Twenty-two homes in the affected area were evacuated and the smell of oil permeated the town on Monday.
The spill has stoked a discussion about the environmental dangers of using aging pipelines to transport heavy crude from Canada, including tar sands, as a boom in oil and gas production in North America increases volumes moving across the continent. **re-posted not my video getting the info out**
