This is the video that Sam Coles, Bradley Parkyn, Jasper Van, Ashleigh Strunk, Paula Ostendorf, Courtney Usher, Millie Moore, Angus, and I made for our Arkaroola presentation with the legendary help of Mr Reed.
My apologies for the length of the video as it had to be over 5 minutes and towards the end we just filled it in with the extension of road and sped up video.
We all had such an amazing time at Arkaroola and it almost brings me to tears watching this video again.

Aerial Australia. The Arkaroola Sanctuary Village is a full service bush walkers holiday resort (with camp ground also) located in north eastern South Australia, in one of Australia's premier private ecological reserves. It also boasts very dark and clear night skies with two fully functional astronomical observatories that visitor can book time on. Apologies for the shakey view as it was very turbulant at low altitude over the hills surrounding it. Filmed by myself enroute to our 15th stop on our Top End Tour of Australia 2008 by light aircaft.
Arkaroola Rocks preview of The Adelaide Show Podcast episode 219
Steve visited Arkaroola Resort and Wilderness Sanctuary at the beginning of October because Professor Flint of Dinosaurs Down Under fame was in residence for a week. While dwelling among the Arkaroola rocks, Steve recorded interviews with Doug and Mark Sprigg, members of the family charged with being custodians of the sanctuary. It is a richly fascinating part of South Australia and, in this preview video, we meet Professor Flint's producer Michael Mills who accompanies us on this journey almost a billion years into the past.
PS The irony is, there is a link between this Uranium and Sir Douglas Mawson in IS IT NEWS, all the while, the Sprigg family has spearheaded the successfull Save Arkaroola Wilderness Sanctuary from Mining campaign. Should be a rich vein of content out later tonight when episode 219 in published.

Out towards Freeling Heights, passing Mt Gee, Mt Painter, Radium Ridge and The Armchair which was hiked over three days.
The flight is over beautiful country which potentially could be converted into a short-lived uranium mine by Marathon Resources - not many people support this short-sighted proposition.

Spanning 400km, the Flinders Ranges are one of Australia’s most captivating arid mountain chains. Renowned for their natural, cultural and geological significance, the 'Flinders’ are rich in cultural heritage and famed for craggy peaks, river red gums, quiet gorges and abundant wildlife. Our overland journey explores the length and breadth of this ancient part of the world. We loop back in time (1600 million years) deep into geological history. Melrose, our first stop, includes walks to nearby Alligator Gorge and Dutchman’s Stern in Mount Remarkable National Park. At Wilpena Pound (Ikara) we confront the full majesty of the ranges via a network of backtracks and memorable walks from our base at Rawnsley Park Station. Pushing north, past the Gammon Ranges, our walks delve into the mountain labyrinth and mineral marvel that is Arkaroola. Then, crossing back west, the legendary Prairie Hotel is the base for forays into the mighty Parachilna and Brachina gorges, home to Yellow-footed rock wallabies and vivid heart of 'Heysen country’. Immersing ourselves in mid-nineteenth century we end our travels soaking up the history of Burra and staying in the charming village of Mintaro.
