Visit to the Neil Armstrong Air & Space Museum
Scenic Stops: Neil Armstrong Air & Space Museum
The museum opened on July 20, 1972, just the third anniversary of the lunar landing. The museum itself is designed to resemble a futuristic moon base. It is most beautiful when viewed at dusk and at night. The museum features many one-of-a-kind artifacts, including the Gemini VIII spacecraft, Neil Armstrong's Gemini and Apollo spacesuits, and a lunar sample — the NASA term for a moon rock. The museum is also home to two full-size aircraft, including the very airplane in which Neil Armstrong learned to fly. In addition there are seven interactive exhibits, ten audio/visual elements, and three simulators. Visitors can practice landing the lunar module and space shuttle or docking the Gemini capsule, just as Neil Armstrong did in 1866. The 56-foot dome in the center of the museum houses the Astro Theater, a unique venue that allows guests to gaze at the night sky or watch one of the informative movies. There is no additional charge for the simulators or the film. Whether your interest is in American history, aviation, space exploration, or state history, the Armstrong Air and Space Museum offers something for you! For more information, visit armstrongmuseum.org/. The Neil Armstrong Air & Space Museum was featured in Season 1 of Scenic Stops, a program locally produced by WBGU-TV highlighting landmarks and individuals local to Northwestern/North Central Ohio, Southern Michigan and Eastern Indiana.

People Flock to Ohio Museums, Remember Armstrong
DAYTON -- Museums across Ohio saw a lot of people hoping to connect to Neil Armstrong and NASA's history. It was 43 years ago when Neil Armstrong made his footprint in history. The man known for walking on the moon died Saturday in Cincinnati.I was just totally blown away when he landed on the moon, I just thought whats next you know, in my lifetime, said Huber Heights resident, Lowell Pfoutz.Pfoutz and his son were only two of hundreds of people who visited museums across Ohio on Sunday. The National Museum of the United States Air Force in Dayton just got a piece of NASA history this past week. The CCT-1 was used to train astronauts to go into space. It is now on display to the pubic. Those visiting, agree history began with Armstrong's moon walk.At the Armstrong Museum in his hometown of Wapakoneta, Ohio people came to feel a connection with the man that stepped foot on the moon.He was an American, he served his country in many capacities, he fought in war, he served as a test pilot, he was an astronaut, he was an educator, said Executive Director, Chris Burton.

Please help support my channel and get a sweet new space shirt ????
I was lucky enough to go to the Smithsonian's reveal to see the unveiling of Neil Armstrong's spacesuit he wore on Apollo 11. This is the first time that the suit is on display in 13 years.
At the event, we heard from the Director of the National Air and Space Museum, Ellen Stofan, NASA Administrator Jim Bridenstine, and Vice President Mike Pence.

NASA transferred Armstrong's spacesuit to the Smithsonian in 1971 following its visit to all 50 states as part of a tour that also featured the Apollo 11 command module, Columbia. Five years later, it debuted on exhibit in the National Air and Space Museum's now-former Apollo to the Moon gallery for 30 years. It was taken off display in 2006, initially only to inspect its condition in anticipation of the then-upcoming 50th anniversary of its mission.
As part of his 8-day, 3-hour and 18-minute historic 1969 journey from Earth to the moon and back, Armstrong wore his spacesuit for 2 hours and 31 minutes while making small steps and giant leaps on the lunar surface. Fifty years later, the garment is still stained with the lunar dust.
The spacesuit is now available for the public to see as part of a temporary display near the 1903 Wright Flyer, the first aircraft to achieve powered flight, on the second floor of the museum on the National Mall. Its future home, the permanent Destination Moon gallery, is slated to be completed in 2022.
