Located on the outskirts of the capital, Arte Moris is an easy microlet ride from Central Dili.
There is a thriving community of artists and young people living and working in Arte Moris.
Many of the buildings are deteriorating badly but there is art everywhere. There's a gallery housing works of art by local artists. There are very creative artworks outside too.
There doesn't seem to be organized tours, but I got a full tour from an artist in residence.

Arte Moris was opened after East Timor became independent and is housed on the premises of the former National Museum.

Voices of the Youth | Tony Amaral | TEDxDili
Through the lens of graffiti, internationally-renowned artist Tony Amaral explores issues of politics and race in the newly emancipated country of Timor-Leste. Watch as he collaborates with improvised music to create a poignant artistic work using spray paint and stencils. Tony is a talented painter, sculptor and multi-media artist. He grew up in Dili under Indonesian occupation, which has had a profound impact on his arts practise. In 2010 Tony graduated from the prestigious National Art School in Sydney, Australia with a Bachelor of Fine Art.
He has exhibited in Australia, Switzerland, Indonesia and Timor-Leste. He also exhibited work at the 15th and 16th editions of the Asian Art Bienniale in Bangladesh. In 2014 he participated in the Darwin Fridge Festival and Melbourne’s Gertrude Street Projection Festival where his collaborative work ANIMATISM won the 2014 Walker Abercrombie Judge's Award. In 2015 Tony created work for the Darwin Festival as part of the Asia in Darwin Residency program. This year Tony represented Timor Leste in the Mind the Gap exhibition in Melbourne, Australia addressing the current political, social, economic and cultural gap between Australia and Timor-Leste.
As a founding member of the Arte Moris Free Art School, Tony has facilitated many visual arts workshops, both in Dili and in the districts. In 2014 he volunteered as lead visual arts producer in Timor-Leste’s first ever public arts festival ARTE PUBLIKU. His recent focus has been on street art where he works with communities to create colourful, bold murals to foster harmony in urban spaces This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Place inEast Timor where youhs can live and promote there talents in music and arts. They also have classes weekly for area children to learn all aspects of art. They could use any exposure or write ups to highlight there efforts, Supplys and donations would mean the world, they have very limited resourses.Bless to all the beautiful people of East Timor. A visit to Arte Moris one of Timor Leste's first fine arts school, cultural centre and artists' association, based in the capital city of Dili. Arte Moris, meaning Living Art was founded in 2003 by a dedicated Swiss-Italian artist and his innovative spouse, to provide a constructive tool in the nation's social and psychological recovery from a troubled past.

Meet Alfeo: Profile of an East Timorese Artist
Meet Alfe Perreira. During the Indonesian occupation, it was not very common to go too far from the family home. In order to entertain himself, Alfe began to draw. He would spend hours drawing, always close by his mother's side as she carried out her daily chores. When it was time to go off to university, despite having a strong desire to learn, Alfeo chose to allow his sister go in his place. He then moved to the capital, Dili, to look for work. An uncle told him about the Arte Moris Art School, that it was a place he could learn to paint and make a small income. In time, Arte Moris became Alfe's second family. Alfe has been working as a freelance illustration, storyboard and comic artist, using both freehand and digital methods.

Arte Moris
Arte Moris (meaning Living Art in Tetun) is the first fine arts school, cultural center and artists’ association in East Timor. It is based in the capital, Dili.
Founded following the violent Indonesian occupation, Its primary aim was to use art as a building block in the psychological and social reconstruction of a country devastated by violence, with special emphasis on helping its young citizens.
Arte Moris provides art classes to local East Timorese, sponsors advanced students, and manages the sale of artwork, both at their on-site gallery and at two up-scale hotels in Dili. Arte Moris also collaborates with the professional drama troupe Bibi Bulak (Crazy Goat).
The art center is housed on the former premises of the National Museum in Comoro, near Dili.
The artwork produced at the school is wide-ranging, but is often surrealist in style, and exhibits cultural aspects from the varied regions of the country. (wikipedia)

Arte Paun - Arty Bread (Venilale, Timor-Leste)
Arte Paun (Arty Bread) is the result of a experimental documentary and stop animation workshop with Victor de Sousa while he was part of Arte Moris in 2008. The animation workshop was done in collaboration with he Afalyca Artists Collective in Baucau, and the documentary and music recordings were made in Venilale and Fatulia, Victor's birth place and home of the Dez Irmaus, the music group that kindly played for us during our visit. The workshop was mentored by David Palazón and directed, filmed and edited by Victor de Sousa. Along 'Letters to my mum' by Francisca Maia, 'Arte Paun' represented Timor-Leste at the Dockanema Film Festival in Maputo in 2009.
