Napa & Sonoma Wine Country, California, USA - Drone
Napa & Sonoma Wine Country: Castello Di Amorosa, Ledson, Peju Province, Artesa, Sterling, Far Niente, Darioush, Clos Pegase, Robert Mondavi, Opus One, Domaine Carneros, Quixote, Ferrari-Carano, Del Dotto Estate, Chateau Montelena, Bale Grist Mill & Beringer
The Napa & Sonoma Valley is one of the most scenic and beautiful wine country to visit in Northern California. October is a perfect month because the fall colors turns to red & gold which showcases a more dramatic hills & valleys of the vineyards. Because Napa is very close to where we live, my wife and I often spend our weekends there because of its beauty and great places to eat. When I got my first drone, it is here where I practiced aerial videos and revisited the same places where we had gone before for photography. To this day, we are still discovering new wineries and restaurants.
There are over 430 Wineries in Napa Valley and over 380 wineries in Sonoma Valley. An astounding 95% of Napa Valley wineries are family-owned. It was The Paris Wine Tasting of 1976, known as the Judgment of Paris event which placed Napa Valley on the map worldwide. This blind, comparative tasting pitted Cabernet Sauvignon and Chardonnay from California against the best wines of Bordeaux and Burgundy in a blind tasting. When the tasting was done, the judges had given top honors to Chateau Montelena Chardonnay and Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon. Napa Valley would never be the same and transformed Napa Valley into one of the premiere wine regions in the world.
Charles Krug is credited with establishing Napa Valley's first commercial winery in 1861: including Schramsberg (founded in 1862), Beringer (1876) and Inglenook (1879).
Aside for its wines (especially Cabernet Sauvignon wines), Napa Valley is also renowned for its fine and diverse cuisine. In fact, the region’s 100-plus restaurants have won more Michelin stars per capita than any other wine country in the world. Among the popular Michelin-starred restaurants include La Toque, The Restaurant at Auberge and The French Laundry.
Besides its arts & culture, you can go around the valley by biking or hiking, sip beer and spirits, see the Old Faithful geyser in Napa city of Calistoga, attend museums and music festivals, go shopping, and ride a hot-air balloon at sunrise.

Located in the San Francisco Bay area in southeastern Sonoma County is the Valley considered the birthplace of the California wine industry. The Sonoma Valley runs from Santa Rosa in the north to the San Pablo Bay in the south. Formed between the Mayacamas Mountains and Sonoma Mountains, Sonoma Valley was home to the earliest California Vineyards which survived both the phylloxera epidemic of the 1870s and the effects of 20th century prohibition.
Today along with being the home to over 100 wineries, The Valley plays host to events year-round. Along with historic wineries Sonoma Valley encompasses many other historic sites including the Jack London State Historic Park which preserves the land that Jack London called home. Visiting the Sonoma Valley includes hot springs resorts, historical buildings, and the history of the settlement of California by the missionaries.
The vineyards of the Sonoma Valley are as varied as the tastes of its wine. Award winning wines from Sonoma are made in wineries that include castles, Mediterranean influenced villas, garden chateaus and modern lounges. Grand estates, quaint wine cellars and subterranean caves are all a part of the winery tour experience in Sonoma Valley.
A proper tour of the Sonoma Valley begins on the Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley. Whether you are a seasoned wine enthusiast, a novice, a sommelier or a history buff the Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley offers an informative overview of the valley during a fun, friendly, relaxing, care free day.
The Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley is a six-hour adventure aboard a replica California cable car. Your hand-built cable car is based on the original blueprints from the San Francisco cable cars that were in operation from the 1890s through the 1930s. It is an all wooden carriage detailed right down to the brass bell. The modern conveniences of the day have been added including a state-of-the-art sound system and PA, along with connections for iPod and iPhone. The Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley is an open-air cable car that lets you experience a panoramic view as you visit four of the world class wineries of The Valley.
Your conductor on the guided Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley will explain the history, legacies, and folklore as you travel the green valley from vineyard to vineyard. The Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley is a group friendly event that encourages making new friends along the way.
The day on the Wine Trolley includes a catered picnic lunch prepared by the Girl & the Fig Restaurant, noted for their country French cuisine, a visit to four selected wineries for a taste of the treasures of Sonoma and a day of knowledgeable adventure. The Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley departs from Sonoma Plaza at 10:30 AM and returns at 4:30 PM. You must be 21 years old to purchase a ticket for the exclusive wine tasting adventures aboard the Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley.
Along with the historical education, laughs and priceless views the Trolley tour visits four wineries. Winery visits on the tour vary because of seasonal and special events happening on certain days, the tour will always include a visit to four premium wineries for a semi-private tasting. Winery tasting fees are separate, ranging from $20-$30 per vineyard.
Wineries are selected for daily tours from the list of twelve regularly visited by the tour conductors of the Sonoma Valley Wine Trolley. The selected wineries are chosen to provide visitors with a general overview of the Sonoma Valley Wine experience. Each of the chosen wineries offer a unique vineyard property and premium vintages. The list includes:
Ravenswood Winery - Buena Vista Winery - Imagery Winery - Mayo Family Winery - Madrone Estate Winery - Paradise Ridge - Larson Winery - Gloria Ferrar – Jacuzzi - Valley of The Moon - VJB Winery - BR Cohen

California Cheese Crawl 2019 VLOG | San Francisco, Napa Valley, Modesto, etc. | The Tummy Train
[Close captioned in case there are some things I said that don't sound clear.]
Finally sharing this vlog from my California Cheese Crawl experience with Real California Milk/California Milk Advisory Board!
It was three awesome days filled with glorious cheese, but more importantly, it was nice to learn about all the sustainability efforts being taken by these companies.
From methane digesters that converts waste to electricity, to treatment ponds that clean discarded water for irrigation, it’s quite an eye-opening experience! We were received by all the companies with such enthusiasm and warmth, it really made the entire experience go beyond anything I was expecting.

Temecula Wine Country Travel Guide | California Travel Tips
California travel expert Veronica Hill shares her Temecula Wine Country Travel Guide and the top Temecula wineries in this episode of California Travel Tips.
When you think of California wine country, Napa Valley and Sonoma likely come to mind. But did you know there's a booming wine industry right here in Southern California?
Temecula California is one of the newest California wine regions.
After years of growing pains, Temecula wineries have now come into their own with sophisticated wines, a hip clientele and growing number of elegant Temecula wine tasting rooms.
It's no wonder that Temecula has become a hot spot for destination weddings, girlfriends getaways and romantic escapes.
Roughly 60 miles between San Diego and Orange County, Temecula Valley's unique microclimate and cool ocean breezes make it a great place to grow wine grapes. And if you're here for wine tasting, you'll find almost all of the Temecula wineries along Rancho California Road and De Portola Road, just a few minutes off the busy I-15 freeway.
How many wineries are in Temecula? There are roughly 20 wineries, but by far the most well known is Thornton Winery, a rambling French Mediterranean style estate known for its sparkling wines.
Winemaker Don Reha took me on a tour through the wine caves, where he crafts Thornton's sparkling wine in the Methode Champenois style.
We followed our tour with a light lunch and wine pairing at Cafe Champagne, where we enjoyed an elegant cheese platter and Kobe burger paired with some of Don's specialty wines.
Our day in the Temecula Vineyards took us past some of the appelation's most elegant wineries, from Wilson Creek Winery, known for its sparkling almond champagne, to South Coast Winery Resort, a 38-acre luxury property with its own spa and private villas. In the tasting room, I learned that South Coast Winery won the Golden Bear award for Winery of the Year at the 2008 California State Fair.
Next up was the romantic Briar Rose Winery, located inside a storybook Snow White Cottage that was actually built by a Disneyland artisan. Briar Rose Winery is home to one of the oldest Mission olive trees in the state.
I met with owners Dorian and Les Linkogle, who explained that their boutique hand-crafted wines have reached cult status, being served everywhere from the Playboy Mansion to the White House.
I especially enjoyed their light Citronier, made with a hint of lemon, and their rich, supple 2003 Cabernet Sauvignon. This upscale boutique winery is open by reservation only.
After touring the beautiful grounds, Les showed off his barrel room — a definite man space decked out with some of his son Larry's famous motocross bikes.
Here, I was among the first to try his trademarked Wine Lager, a fresh, fruit and bubbling beverage that was simply amazing.
Next, we traveled to Keyways Winery, the only woman-owned winery in Temecula. And this early California-style tasting room definitely has a woman's touch, from the cozy couches and fireplace to the elegant dining room.
If you're in the mood to picnic, Keyways sells a variety of meats, cheeses and wines that you can enjoy outside, sometimes with a live band to entertain you.
I caught up with owner Terri Pebley for a private tour and tasting of her award-winning wines.
We ended our day in Temecula with a stop at Ponte Winery, a country-style tasting room known for its cool Smokehouse restaurant and a really fun crowd. After enjoying a barbecue in the vineyards, I couldn't resist taking part in their annual Grape Stomp, reliving that famous I Love Lucy Episode.
Owner Claudio Ponte gave me a few tips before I got to stomping, and the heat began.
I didn't win, but I came in second, which isn't too bad.
After that workout, it was time to wind down — and a sunset tractor ride through the vineyards was just the ticket.
I promise if you visit Temecula Wine Country, you're going to have a great time. And if you visit during the fall crush — maybe you can stomp a few grapes yourself!
