Google Earth Tour of Faults that Threaten Flagstaff, Arizona
This 4-minute flights examines the Lake Mary and Cataract Creek Fault systems near Flagstaff, Arizona. The 25-mile-long Lake Mary fault extends from Mormon Lake north to the city boundary of Flagstaff. It comprises dozens of active fault strands. If the entire fault ruptured, it would produce a M7 earthquake that would damage and crumble unreinforced masonry buildings in downtown Flagstaff.
Record Breaking Fish Caught at Lake Mary
A very wet year in northern Arizona has caused the Upper Lake Mary dam to overflow for the first time since 2010. Increased water levels have created ideal fishing conditions.
This Sunday, a record breaking catch was made at Lake Mary. Fisherman Carson Pete caught a 33.36 pound catfish, measuring just over 39 inches in length, breaking the 1987 state record. News of the amazing catch has encouraged more fishermen to try their luck in Flagstaff.
Local fisherman, Nick Redmond, fishes at Lake Mary in between classes as he tries for something other than pike.
Danny Ono, Flagstaff visitor, tells NAZ Today how the record setting catfish gives fishermen hope.
Arizona Game and Fish warn of increased numbers of fishermen at Lake Mary over the next couple of months due to the once in a lifetime catfish.

Southeast of Flagstaff, Arizona. Anderson Mesa is a mix of pine forest, meadows, and lakes at 7,000 feet. It's a wonderful place to camp. The Arizona Trail, which spans the entire state from Mexico to Utah, can be accessed here. Not one drop of snow in flagstaff and yet the Lake is Frozen
i was in shock to hear that the lake was frozen so while I went to the back in Flagstaff Az i figured i would Take a trip to the lake to check it out.
The lake was not frozen enough to walk on.
we had a 3 hr drive back home so you can tell i was rely protective with no one getting wet hahaha.
I wish i would of brought my fishing gear but I didnt :(

AVA - Hannagan Meadow: Acker Lake Hike
Just south of Alpine is Hannagan Meadows, a very nice and secluded campground 9200ft in elevation. Located in the White Mountains of eastern Arizona this area was sadly hit by the Wallow Fire of June 2011 (accidentally sparked by campers that didn't put out their campfire) and even 6 years later, you can still see the remnants of the damage it caused.
The Aker Lake trail starts at the Hannagan Meadow campground and drops gradually 400 ft over its 3.5 mile span to Aker Lake. The trail passes though a mixed forest of aspens and conifers. Also in the midst are still burnt out husk of trees from the fire. Fallen trees also litter the trail but have been cut and/or brushed aside helping to form additional trail markers. Honestly though, Aker 'lake' is more like a pond... but still a nice sight and a good place to have lunch.
