McKay Photography Academy - Italy 2013
ITALY -- (SOLD OUT) OCT 7TH-20TH AMALFI COAST EXTENSION 20TH-25TH
Camogli
Join David & Ally and their staff on an unforgettable trip to romantic and beautiful Italy. Photograph and experience Venice, Tuscany, Florence, Cinque Terra & Rome! For those that would like to continue their Italian experience, an extension to Sorrento with stops at Pompeii and then to the Amalfi coast will be available!
David & Ally have been to Italy several times and still consider it one of their favorite places in all the world to photograph. The possibilities to experience and create images in Italy are endless! Included in the trip will be staying in Camogli.(Pictured above) A small fishing village on the coast that will be used as home base for Cinque Terra excursions with the McKay's. Camogli holds a very special place in the hearts of David and Ally and is David's favorite place in all the world as he says. Tentative Itinerary: Our adventure will begin in Venice. After arriving as a group, we will get settled in. Over the next two days you will explore the Grand Canal, St Marks Square and all Venice has to offer. Venice is magical in the evenings after most tourist are in bed. We plan to go out night shooting which includes exploring hidden back water ways, Venice Alleys and more. You will always feel safe as you are with us and our staff and you will do and see what most tourist never experience.
The hidden Venice is stunning at night!
Next our trip will take us to historical Florence. After arriving via private coach we will set out to explore the place where Michelangelo, Leonardo, Dante and others made their home and inspired the world with their art, thinking and way of life. You will visit sites such as the Duomo and climb the 500 plus stairs inside to the top if you like for incredible views of the city. There is SO MUCH to see in Florence it can be quite over-whelming. It truly is impossible to see it all in one visit. For this reason, on our 2nd day, we will start with a private tour of hidden Florence as well as have private entrance to see Michelangelo's David. (No waiting) Of course, the Uffizi Gallery, arguably the most famous art museum in all of Italy is here as well if you want to be inspired by great Renaissance artist. It can easily take one full day just to visit the museum. You will have options to go and explore on your own or work with instructors throughout each day in the city. Florence is FULL of opportunities!
After Florence, the welcome quietness and beauty of Tuscany will await. Now will be a time for wine, sunsets and reflection. Here we will take a breath and spend time exploring and photographing the unique landscape that is just an hour from the hustle of Florence. Of course, we will also take in great Italian wine.
On to Cinque Terra. Considered by many to be the most beautiful area of all of Italy with 5 towns that are all linked via a trail. We will be making our home base in the quiet seaside village of Camogli. Here we still stay at a quaint hotel on the ocean where the owners and the McKay's have a great relationship. Camogli is only a 45 minute train ride away from Cinque Terra and all it has to offer and photograph, yet this is a hidden gem that very few Americans would ever know about. As mentioned, Camogli holds a very special place in the hearts of David and Ally and after visiting, you will understand why. The first day will be spent around the town and just taking in the sea air and local eateries. There is of course much to photograph here as well.
There is a beautiful Cliffside castle and church that we will explore. You will find this will be very relaxing here in Camogli and authentic Italian people to greet us!
Over the next two days we will go into Cinque Terra and enjoy what is known as the Italian Riviera. We will by-pass the cruise ship stop of Portofino in favor of the authentic Cliffside towns such as Vernazza , Riomaggiore, Manarola and others.
Arranged for you will be tours of the The Vatican and Sistine Chapel and of course, The Coliseum! We have great guides and will no waiting in lines! There will be LOTS of opportunitie to explore Rome as well. A busy city, but a favorite of David and Ally's.
Amalfi Coast Extension! Oct 20th-25th
Want more Italy? Join us for 5 more days as we venture to the Southern Coast and visit Pompeii, The Herculeneum, Sorrento and the beautiful Amalfi coast!
This Italian experience is limited in size to 20 guest and typically sells out within days of being offered. It is geared for beginners through advanced. There is no need to be intimidated with your abilities. If you are just beginning or a seasoned veteran photographer, we take time with EACH client to ensure they are growing and learning!
