Auroville (/ˈɔːrəvɪl/; City of Dawn) is an experimental township in Viluppuram district mostly in the state of Tamil Nadu, India with some parts in the Union Territory of Puducherry in South India. It was founded in 1968 by Mirra Alfassa (known as the Mother) and designed by architect Roger Anger. As stated in Alfassa's first public message in 1965,

The Matrimandir
The Matrimandir, a golden metallic sphere in the center of town
In the middle of the town is the Matrimandir, which was conceived by Alfassa as a symbol of the Divine's answer to man's aspiration for perfection. Silence is maintained inside the Matrimandir to ensure the tranquility of the space and entire area surrounding the Matrimandir is called Peace area. Inside the Matrimandir, a spiraling ramp leads upwards to an air-conditioned chamber of polished white marble referred to as a place to find one's consciousness.
Matrimandir is equipped with a solar power plant and is surrounded by manicured gardens. When there is no sun or after the sunset, the sunray on the globe is replaced by a beam from a solar powered light.
Radiating from this center are four zones of the City Area: the Residential Zone, Industrial Zone, Cultural (& Educational) Zone and International Zone. Around the City or the urban area, lies a Green Belt which is an environment research and resource area and includes farms and forestries, a botanical garden, seed bank, medicinal and herbal plants, water catchment bunds, and some communities.

We spend a good time at Mahabalipurum, then we continued to Pondicherry. If you are travelling by road, do take East Coast Road you will enjoy the ride.
At the starting of Pondicherry city we stayed at Eden Beach Cottage at Serenity Beach, they have beautiful huts which are showed in video. Eden Beach cottage is just in front of Beach, & this beach is good for relaxing, what else you want after the all-day long ride.
I'm sharing the Contacts of Edan Beach Cottage as it is Budget friendly, they give good service, they have parking also, & the beach is just in front. Yes, I do recommend this place.

We spent the evening in Pondicherry, explored beautiful serenity beach, then we head towards the white town, which is the heart of Pondicherry.
White Town is the main tourist attraction of the city, you have the Market over their, Hotels, Restaurants, Walkers, Rock Beach, Statue of Dupleix these are what we explored in white town Pondicherry. There are lot many things to do around in white town.
Then we had a city tour, more specifically city ride & later we decided to visit Auroville Village which is just 9 kilometres away from Serenity Beach.
If you are visiting Pondicherry, don’t skip the Auroville Village, Auroville village is surrounded by the forest. For visiting the village & Matri Mandir you need to take permission at visitor’s center. If want to stay, volunteer, or explore prior you need to register.

Visiting the Soul of Auroville: The Matrimandir (My vlog #350)
Rajah and I are spending our last morning in Auroville visiting the sacred ‘Soul of Auroville’ the Matrimandir. The center chamber of this giant lotus-like golden orb is an incredible silent space of meditation with a perfect crystal ball at the center. We weren’t allowed to bring cameras inside so instead we’re giving it a shot to break down the experience into a vlog to share the experience with you.

Under the Matrimandir in Auroville
Auroville Matrimandir | Soul Of The City | Pondicherry | Tamil Nadu | India
The Matrimandir (Sanskrit for Temple of The Mother) is an edifice of spiritual significance for practitioners of Integral yoga, situated at the centre of Auroville initiated by The Mother of the Sri Aurobindo Ashram. It is called soul of the city and is situated in a large open space called Peace. Matrimandir does not belong to any particular religion or section.
The Matrimandir took 37 years to build, from the laying of the foundation stone at sunrise on 21 February 1971 - the Mother’s 93rd birthday - to its completion in May 2008. It is in the form of a huge sphere surrounded by twelve petals. The Geodesic dome is covered by golden discs and reflects sunlight, which gives the structure its characteristic radiance. Inside this central dome is a meditation hall known as the inner chamber - this contains the largest optically-perfect glass globe in the world. The Matrimandir, and its surrounding gardens in the central Peace Area, is open to the public by appointment.
The four main pillars that support the structure of Matrimandir, and carry the Inner Chamber, have been set at the four main directions of the compass. These four pillars are symbolic of the four aspects of the mother as described by Sri Aurobindo, and are named after these four aspects.
Passes for the Matrimandir Viewing Point can be obtained for free at Auroville's Visitors' Centre, after watching a short introductory video on the Matrimandir.
Visitors and guests should bear in mind that the Matrimandir is not a ‘tourist’ site; it is a place for individual silent concentration. A place which should be visited in an appropriate physical and mental state.

As every year, Anna was back on stage with her concert 'Rock and Love for Your Soul' for all of us rock (and of course funk, soul, r&b) music lovers. And, as one guest exhaled, we went down the memory lane... From lady Gaga to Stones, from Adele to Michael Jackson... The music made us move and shake our bodies to the groove (though some got a bit too excited!). Anna was supported by Pierre (Guitar), Edo (Guitar), Saga (Bass) and Saravanan (Drums). Why it's (Not) worth visiting Auroville | Auroville Experience
Auroville is so much more than just the Matrimandir. And like most of us even I made the mistake of doing a half day tour of Auroville 5 years back. But coming back here for long was always on my radar. So finally in December'18 I decided to stay here for a week.
Auroville is basically an experimental township where people from multiple nationalities are able to live in an integrated harmonious way, with a common purpose of realising human unity. A place where people come to live their dreams. Be it a business manager turned social entrepreneur, a market researcher turned farmer, or a graphic designer turned musician, this is definitely the place where creativity is the means to a better way of living.
For an experiential traveller like me, this is the perfect platform for understanding the community living and learning from some life-enriching experiences. Although on a very small scale, Auroville is a commendable example of alternate and sustainable living, and a proof of harmonious integration between the locals and expats.
Even after living here for a week, I still find it difficult to capture this place in words. But it’s a genuine break from the only way of life most of us have lived so far. So instead of a day tour, stay here for a while, indulge in delicious organic food, volunteer in a few interesting activities, make some new friends and basically LIVE A LITTLE.

The visitor's centre, A place where day visitors can satisfy their curiosity and get a taste of Auroville, the Auroville Visitors Centre (VC) is a complex of buildings specially designed to answer to the needs of casual day visitors and more interested guests alike.
It was constructed in 1988 with grants from HUDCO and the Foundation for World Education and has become well-known for its architecture and energy-saving construction materials. It is located in Auroville's International Zone between Bharat Nivas and Edayanchavadi village.
The Visitors Centre, which welcomes large numbers of visitors every day, has been conceived as a demonstration site for alternative sustainable technology, renewable energy, alternative building techniques and integrated waste water management. The aim is to demonstrate the possibility to successfully run such a centre in a pleasant set up with low or no environmental impact and pollution.

Dr. Sarat Kumar Acharya inaugrates new paver road Auroville Visitors Centre

Auroville: Dr. Sarat Kumar Acharya, the Chairman and Managing Director of Neyveli Lignite Corporation India Pvt. Ltd. (NLC), on Saturday (February 10th) inaugurated the new paver block road here in Auroville.The new paver block road from Edayanchavadi Tar Road to the Visitors Centre, including the plaza/parking area in front of the Visitors Centre was officially inaugurated in the presence of other directors and officials from Neyveli and representatives of the Auroville Foundation, Working Committee and L'Avenir d'Auroville. Under its Corporate Social Responsibility budget, Neyveli Lignite Corporation has donated Rs 1.1 crore for the development of road and parking spaces.As a tradition, an inauguration pooja took place wherein the officials blessed the spot.After, Dr. Acharya gave an answer to a curious local journalists whereby he said that there was a proposal from the Former Chief Secretary of Puducherry to explore the possibility of introducing Indias first solar pathway which is still in a planning stage and said that there are in talks with few foreign teams to implement the plan. . The event was followed with opening remarks of Carel, secretary Srinivasamurthy of Auroville Foundation, Dr. Sarat Kumar Acharya, Nicole and other representatives of Neyveli Lignite Corporation India.Dr. Sarat said that this was an occasion of satisfaction that we could do something for the betterment of society, and added that the wealth made through these industrial activities will be for the development of the societies. Dr. Sarat in his address said that he was proud to be a part of the Auroville Community and added that the inspiration driving to promote peace and humanity inspired him the most and also attracted people from all over the globe. He also said that he looks forward to contribute as much as possible in the coming days for the development of the society.
