Shiga Again: Part 1 - Castle Ruins(Azuchi) and Bicycle Riding - 11/8/14

Happy New Year. I'm still here trying to catch up on my editing/uploading. Sorry for the wait. In this video, I go to Shiga Prefecture again, because there's an event that I want to check out. The event starts at night, so we go to a different part of Shiga to kill some time. I had no idea there was a castle ruins site until I was on the train. To get there, we had to rent bicycles and bike for about 15 minutes. It was an interesting ride and hike up the mountain. Part 2 is coming soon.

開催される超大型観光キャンペーンです！

滋賀は歴史の転換点となった
合戦場跡が多くあり
織田信長や豊臣秀吉、明智光秀、
石田三成など名だたる戦国武将たちの
ゆかりの地でもあります。

そして、来年1月から放送開始の
ＮＨＫ大河ドラマの主人公に
坂本城（大津市）を築城した
明智光秀が決まったことを機に
戦国時代の史跡や逸話、伝承などに
焦点を当て、
滋賀の魅力を体験してもらおうという
趣旨で企画されました。

安土城は、滋賀県近江八幡市安土町下豊浦にあった日本の城です。

城址は国の特別史跡で、
琵琶湖国定公園第1種特別地域になっています。

安土城は織田信長によって、
現在の安土山に建造され、
大型の天守を初めて持つなど
威容を誇る建造物でした。

安土城は地下1階地上6階建てで、
天主の高さが約32メートル。

それまでの城にはない独創的な意匠で
絢爛豪華な城であったと推測されています。
