Feeding and Petting Giraffes at B Bryan Preserve
On the morning of Christmas Eve we spent an incredible few hours at B Bryan Preserve in Point Arena, California! What an amazing experience!! (Yes, you can tell we were very excited feeding apples to the giraffes! Sorry for our silly excitement and shakiness of video--Quick recording on an iphone 6.)
When we visited it had been raining so all 5 male Rothchild (AKA Baringa) Giraffes were in the barn were we got to go up some stairs and see them eye level! We also got to go to the bottom floor where we got to look up at these majestic creatures!!
I never imagined I would get to be so close to a giraffe, to look in its eyes, and touch it and feed it. This place is nothing like a zoo. They say you can see glimpses of the personality of God through his creation. That is so true for you leave this place, at least I did, feeling in awe at God and his breathtaking creativity displayed in these animals. Being so close to these gentle giants was truly an amazing and unforgettable experience!
I am thankful to the wonderful people behind this unique preserve. Who knew California had its own african safari in Point Arena, Ca. Only in this safari you actually get up close and personal with the animals! Pictures or videos can never do it justice. Add this place to your must do bucket list !
We also got to see wild antelopes and zebras. All of the species of antelope (Kudu, Roan, Sable), zebra (Grevy, Hartmann's Mountain), and giraffes (Rothchild/Baringa) are endangered species.
B Bryan Preserve is unique in that not only is it protecting theses animals but like the giraffe, for example, it is protecting this specific species of giraffe, the Rothchild Giraffe.

The Tallest Animal On Earth!
The Rothchild (AKA Baringa) Giraffe is the tallest of all the giraffes! Sadly, there are only 670 left on Earth. This video was taken at B Bryan Preserve in Point Arena California. There are other places protecting giraffes but the B Bryan Preserve is the only preserve that is protecting the specific species called Rothchild.
Poaching of this gentle giant is a huge problem in Kenya. They are hunted and killed for thrills and as a food source (easy to kill, lots of meat) for poachers while they are hunting other endangered animals.
By donating to and visiting the B Bryan Preserve you are helping protect these beautiful majestic creatures! I highly recommend you reserve a tour of this place! You get an unforgettable experience while helping to protect these gorgeous creatures! (links below)
We recorded this when we visited on Christmas Eve 2014. (Recorded in spur of moment with an iphone 6, sorry for poor quality). They were in barn as it had been raining, usually they have acres to roam around in!

Guadalupe Valdés - Understanding Lanuage
As part of the UC Davis School of Education's Distinguished Educational Thinker Series, Professor Guadelupe Valdés gave a talk at UC Davis in January 2013 titled Understanding Language in Schools. Valdés argues that English learners must be given access to grade level content while they are learning English. Writing is about ideas, but we pretend with English learners that language must emerge pristine before they can engage in the academic content. We must push for comprehension before focusing on production because it is most important for learning.

SUMMARY
=======
Warren Gamaliel Harding (November 2, 1865 – August 2, 1923) was the 29th President of the United States from 1921 until his death in 1923. At that time, he was one of the most popular U.S. Presidents, but the subsequent exposure of scandals that took place under his administration such as Teapot Dome eroded his popular regard, as did revelations of an affair by Nan Britton, one of his mistresses. In historical rankings of the U.S. Presidents, Harding is often rated among the worst.
Harding lived in rural Ohio all his life, except when political service took him elsewhere. As a young man, he bought The Marion Star, building it into a successful newspaper. In 1899, he was elected to the Ohio State Senate and after four years there successfully ran for lieutenant governor. He was defeated for governor in 1910, but was elected to the United States Senate in 1914. When Harding ran for the Republican nomination for president in 1920 he was considered a long shot until after the convention began. Then the leading candidates, such as General Leonard Wood, could not gain the needed majority and the convention deadlocked. Harding's support gradually grew until he was nominated on the 10th ballot. He conducted a front porch campaign, remaining for the most part in Marion and allowing the people to come to him. Running on a theme of a return to normalcy of the pre-WWI period, he won in a landslide over Democrat James M. Cox and Socialist Party candidate Eugene Debs and became the first sitting U.S. Senator to be elected president.
Harding appointed a number of well-regarded figures to his cabinet, including Andrew Mellon at the Treasury, Herbert Hoover at Commerce and Charles Evans Hughes at the State Department. A major foreign policy achievement came with the Washington Naval Conference of 1921–1922, in which the world's major naval powers agreed on a naval limitations program that lasted a decade. Two members of his cabinet were implicated in separate incidents of corruption: Interior Secretary Albert Fall and Attorney General Harry Daugherty. The resulting scandals did not fully emerge until after Harding's death, nor did word of his extramarital affairs, and these issues greatly damaged his reputation after his death. Harding died of a heart attack in San Francisco while on a western speaking tour, and was succeeded by his vice president, Calvin Coolidge.
