Baan Thai Cooking School, Chiang Mai - Thailand
Baan Thai Cooking class
I took a cooking class at the Baan Thai Cooking school in Chang Mai during my 2015 trip. It was a lot of fun & I did actually learn something about Thai cooking.
Cooking Thai Food In Chiang Mai - Baan Farm Thai Cooking School - Things to do Chiang Mai
Looking for a different way to experience a foreign country? We were too, while in Chiang Mai Thailand, so we attended a Thai cooking class!
This episode is a little different than a regular day in the life, as we visited Baan Farm's cooking class in Chiang Mai, Thailand hosted by Ploy. She picked us up in the morning and got us on a privately hired truck to get the other aspiring cooks as well. In the Thai cooking class we each got to make five unique Thai dishes and socialize with some other travelers as well.
The cooking class was a great way to relax and spend the day as well as try authentic Thai cuisine. If you're looking for something to do in Thailand, or even in another country a cooking class is a great option. You get to learn first hand the ingredients that go into certain dishes as well as how it should taste made from scratch as everyone tends to have their different variations we have found. We even found out eggplants here are a lot like peas, who would've thought!
A special thanks to Ploy and Baan farm for having us. Ploy was a pleasure to learn authentic Thai cooking from and it really was a highlight for us in Chiang Mai. Their family farm above the pink tilapia was also a lovely setting.
Hope you enjoyed seeing some Thai cooking and consider trying a cooking class is looking for something do in any foreign country. It really does give you a little extra local flair and culture.
Until next episode everyone, hope you've all been well. And as always if you enjoyed the content we'd love to hear feedback in the comments or a like/subscribe! Cheers.

BEST Cooking Class in CHIANG MAI | Baan FARM Cooking School!
Day 25 - Took a Thai food cooking class in Chiang Mai at one of the best cooking Schools - Baan Farm! Ploy was our guide and she was the best instructor we could have asked for, and it was a great experience. We booked a little late in the day and were able to do a private tour so that was really nice as well. Definitely one of our favorite things we did in Chiang Mai!

Cooking DELICIOUS Thai Food in Chiang Mai!! @ Thai Cookery School
What an incredible day! Being the first of 5 cooking classes, we started off real strong. Garnet at the Thai Cookery School blew us away with not only her culinary knowledge and skills but with her kindness and relatability. She was the most caring and excitable person we have come across and she made the day absolutely amazing. I hope you all enjoy the video as much as we enjoyed the food. ;P #cookingclasschiangmai #bestcookingclasschiangmai #chiangmaicookingclass

About Us!
If you had told me a year ago that we were going to sell all of our stuff to start backpacking the world, I would have called you a liar. Decisions like the one we made start with an inflection point. A point where you realize that life can never be the same anymore. After a challenging, and painful year in 2017, we decided we needed to go out and live the life we wanted to live, instead of watching it on someone else’s YouTube Channel. We had given everything we had, physically and emotionally, for other’s dreams and were ready to work that hard for ourselves. From rock bottom, Chase for Adventure was born.
The Chase Begins
We moved in with our parents, sold everything we own including our cars, and paid off $70,000 worth of debt. We worked 70hrs/week over the last year trying to save up $15,000 to make our dreams come true. Now, we are travel journalists who showcase the beauty in different cultures and inspire others to chase their dreams through our YouTube Channel and website Chase for Adventure. We want to show others that if they want something bad enough, they’ll figure out how to get it; show people who are struggling that they can make the light at the end of their tunnel. Chase for Adventure is more than just a travel vlog and blog; it’s the chronicles of what it’s like to have a dream and do whatever it takes to attain it.

Best Thai Food Cooking School | Chiang Mai, Thailand
When I was in Chiang Mai, Thailand, I did a Thai cooking course in The Best Cooking Course. The location was really nice, it was a cottage surrounded by a rice field not far from Chiang Mai city.I really enjoyed it because you didn't need to be an expert in cooking before you can join the course.
I was able to prepare Tom Yum, Masaman Curry, and Holy Basil Chicken. I also learned how to make Mango Sticky Rice and Pad Thai, but decided not to include it in the video.
I wanted to share this video because I think it is such a great experience to learn how to cook thai food while traveling Thailand.

THE BEST Thai Cooking School | Chiang Mai Thailand
Today's adventure brought to you by:
You can't visit Chiang Mai, Thailand without taking an authentic Thai cooking class! We had the opportunity to spend a full day at the Thai Secret Cooking School. Obviously we haven't been to every cooking school in Chiang Mai, but I can very confidently say the Thai Secret Cooking School is by far the best cooking school in Chiang Mai!
The day started with a trip to the local market to pick up ingredients that we would use during our cooking class. After that we took a short drive to the cooking school. The cooking is also an organic farm (and their lovely home!). So before we began our cooking class, we went out to the garden and picked ingredients like flowers and herbs to cook our delicious Thai food!
During the cooking class, we chose to learn to cook pad thai, spring rolls, Penang curry paste, Penang curry with pork, mango sticky rice, and other Thai dishes. May is the instructor that teaches the Thai cooking class. She has an awesome personality and makes everything so much fun! She definitely makes the experience even greater!
If you are visiting Chiang Mai, and you love food half as much as we do - Definitely go to a Thai cooking school. The Thai Secret Cooking School comes with our absolute highest recommendations! We had a blast!

The BEST Chiang Mai Cooking Class! Learning and Laughing at Thai Cookery School
Over the last few weeks, we got to try 5 different cooking schools in Chiang Mai so that we could tell you the best one! Out of all of the great cooking schools we went to, Thai Cookery School was by far the best!
We literally just left Thai Cookery School in Chiang Mai and the experience was incredible! We did a half day class which involved cooking a Thai clear soup, Veggie Springs Rolls, Red Curry with Duck, and Ginger Chicken Stirfry. Our teacher, Garnet was as informative as she was hilarious. There wasn’t a moment during the class where we weren’t laughing or making a joke. She makes you feel at home, welcome, and like you’ve known her for years. I was genuinely sad to leave. The class provides you with water, tea, and coffee and has soft drinks and beer for sale at a very reasonable price (50 Baht for a can). The format was as follows:
Learn how to carve garnishes. We made a rose out of a tomato peel and a transparent leaf out of a carrot.
After we did the garnishes, we worked on the clear soup. It was easy, fast, and delicious. We first go into a mini auditorium style room where she shows us the ingredients and shows her cooking the meal first. We taste the one she makes so that we can try and match it, or tailor it to our own tastes. The room we learn in is in the AC, which is a nice contrast to the outside cooking we do.
After watching her, we grab our ingredients and head outside to try it ourselves! Something I really loved about this class was how it caters to different dietary needs. There was a person in our group that was allergic to fish and shell fish and Garnet was able to find a substitute for the fish sauces, oyster sauce, and shrimp paste. Out of all of the dishes we cooked, the curry was my favorite!
I eat primary vegetarian and she was able to sub all of the meat in my dishes for Tofu and extra vegetables.
After you’re done cooking each meal, you go to the main table with all of your classmates and enjoy the food you just made with great conversation. Often times in shock that we made food this good with our bare hands. All of the recipes were simple enough to know I can confidently recreate them at home, while being equally delicious!
If there is one thing I would do differently is get the full day class. Also a nice surprise was the beautiful cook book we received at the end of class. I’m going to be honest, I was just expecting a print out of the recipes, but the book looks like something I would buy at a book store or buy as a souvenir for friends!
As always thank you so much for watching!

THAI COOKING SCHOOL - Thai Akha Kitchen - Chiang Mai, Thailand
Elyse and I spent a day at Thai Akha Kitchen, a cooking school in Chiang Mai. Not only did we learn eleven new dishes, but we also came away with a better understanding of Thai culture and the Akha ethnic group. By far one of the best experiences we had in Chiang Mai!
