JOURNEY into MONGOLIA
I went on a solo adventure into western Mongolia with Indy Guide ( to explore what this amazing part of the country had to offer and visit the eagle hunters of the region, I was not disappointed. The views were on another level, especially in the Altai mountains but the Kazahk people were just extremely welcoming and open which made the experience one to remember. Staying with a different family each night, experiencing their daily routines and eating and drinking with them. We continued to make our way around the west, attending the Nauryz eagle festival and exploring some of the snowy mountains in the Altai by horseback. Filming my adventure through Mongolia was extremely tough, we were on the move constantly and electricity is hard to come by so I relied on power banks a lot to charge my camera, being from Africa i'm not used to temperatures as low as -20 degrees celsius during this time of the year and of course the language barrier but I thoroughly enjoyed the every moment and it was one of the most raw feelings of travel I have experienced.
Thanks to Ati Tosun from Indy-Guide for making this trip such a success in terms of an adventure, I hope this video gives a small insight into what is to be expected when visiting this part of the world.

Beijing Monument - Stock Footage
Beijing, China’s massive capital, has history stretching back 3 millennia. Yet it’s known as much for its modern architecture as its ancient sites such as the grand Forbidden City complex, the imperial palace during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Nearby, the massive Tiananmen Square pedestrian plaza is site of Mao Zedong’s mausoleum and the National Museum of China, displaying a vast collection of cultural relics.

At Photo Tranquility we generally concentrate on presenting to you a beautiful sunrise or sunset which may take up to 4 or 5 hours and condense that experience to a few seconds. We also employ the use of advanced tracking techniques so the camera is moving a few inches every hour across the landscape to add motion to the video. Please enjoy, share, and tell your friends!
The Huntington Chinese Garden - Garden of Flowing Fragrance
The Garden of Flowing Fragrance, Liu Fang Yuan 流芳園, is amongst the largest Chinese-style gardens outside China. Designed to promote the rich traditions of Chinese culture, the garden is truly a cross-cultural effort. Architects and artisans from Suzhou, the renowned garden city of southern China, worked alongside California builders and gardeners. As a result, the Garden of Flowing Fragrance combines the botanical with the artistic and scholarly, in the tradition of Henry Huntington.
About Liu Fang Yuan
“Flowing fragrance” (liu fang 流芳) refers to the scents of the flowers and trees throughout the year as the seasons turn. The Chinese poet Cao Zhi 曹植 (192-232) first used the phrase in his “Rhapsody on the Luo River Goddess” (“Luo shen fu” 洛神賦) to describe how the fragrance of the flowers trailed in the goddess’s wake. The name also serves to echo that of the Ming dynasty painter Li Liufang 李流芳 (1575-1629), one of the late masters of landscape painting.
In the garden, Chinese architecture and rocks from Lake Tai, placed around the water’s edge, balance native features such as the Californian oaks. Sheltering woods were left undisturbed and a man-made lake stands in the same deep spot where once water naturally collected after heavy rains.
A Chinese garden, it is said, is like a scroll painting, presenting a series of carefully composed scenes. New vistas are revealed as one strolls along the pathways, with a number of key elements combining to create a sense of harmony and of beauty.
Architecture
Architectural features both compose views and become an aspect of those views. Intricate lattice and shaped doorways frame various scenes and generate anticipation as the garden is slowly revealed. Visitors stroll down patterned pathways and across bridges with hand carved decoration. Carvings of bamboo, pine, and plum, symbols of fortitude, integrity, and resilience, adorn the ceiling of the “Pavilion of the Three Friends” (San You Ge 三友閣) near a grove where all three of these plants grow.
Water, Rocks, and Plants
A flower is never just a flower; all plants in a Chinese garden mark the shift of the seasons and represent a particular moral property. Similarly, water, symbolizing the ever-changing, and rocks, symbolizing the eternal, create a harmonious balance of nature’s yin and yang. Weathered limestone rocks from China’s Lake Tai line the water’s edge capturing the majesty of the mountains and rivers of China, while the surface of the lake reflects shifting patterns of skies overhead.
The Arts
The private gardens of China were where culture was both created and enjoyed. A garden’s features were considered incomplete without, in the words of the great eighteenth-century Chinese novel The Dream of the Red Chamber (Honglou meng 紅樓夢), “…that touch of poetry which only the written word can lend a scene.”
Throughout the Garden of Flowing Fragrance, the names of features and the couplets that grace these features, all labeled by contemporary calligraphers, conjure up the literary, philosophic, and artistic traditions of China, and encourage us to experience the world around us in new ways.

Finger Painting at 798 Art Zone, Beijing
Finger painting at 798 Art Zone in Beijing. We took the subway about 10 stops and walked for 15 minutes to get to the Zone. It's huge with dozens of galleries, a couple of which charge a buck or so to get in. One 3-D gallery, which featured popular cartoon characters, wanted 40 yuan each--almost 20 bucks for the 3 of us; we didn't see the 3-D Kung Fu Panda. As we were exploring the maze of streets we found this guy, who was producing some very Chinese b/w pictures without a brush. Besides the galleries and street artists there were dozens of restaurants, shops, coffee and ice cream stands. A great spot to visit if you are in Beijing.

With original music by Tom Fox:
Hong Kong is the most expensive housing market in the world. It has been ranked as the least affordable housing market on Earth for eight years in a row, and the price per square foot seems to be only going up. The inflated prices are forcing Hongkongers to squeeze into unconventionally small spaces that can affect their quality of life.
Tens of thousands of Hongkongers are living in spaces that range from 75 to 140 square feet. To put that in perspective, the average parking space in the US is about 150 square feet. And in the most extreme cases, Hongkongers have resorted to homes the size of a coffin.
I spent some time exploring the living situation in Hong Kong to find out why housing has become so expensive and spaces so tight.
To understand how Hong Kong’s housing market turned out this way and see how it’s affecting people’s lives, watch the final episode of Borders Hong Kong.
