Chinese Taoist Massage After Training Tai Chi on Wudang Mountain, China
One thing I really enjoy about traditional Wudang martial arts is the fact it's not always about the martial aspect. There is just as much focus on healing as well as self defence. Here you see our Shifu demonstrating Taoist Chi massage after a long day of training. It feels amazing to have this done, many people don't realize how the muscles as well as organs and systems of their body benefit from a good chi massage.
Wudang Mountain is known for it's focus on internal martial arts that includes the improvement of one's health. Each year we return to Wudang Mountain to train Tai Chi, meditate, study philosophy, hike, drink tea, join in Taoist ceremonies in the temples and receive amazing massages like you see in this video from our Shifu.
Why not join us next year and experience this amazing adventure with Terry Hodgkinson and Tao Journeys. Everyone who has gone in the past has loved the experience and what the insights they come home with. Contact Terry at and let us know you are interested in attending the trip with us this year.

Simplified Tai Chi 24 form (YMAA Taijiquan) Yang style by Liang, Shou-Yu
DVD available:
In 1956, the Simplified (or 24 Posture) Taijiquan was compiled by the Chinese Sports Commission. Tremendous efforts were put into promoting Taijiquan. The 24 Posture Taijiquan was derived from the traditional Yang Style Taijiquan long form. It was the result of many Taijiquan masters working towards standardizing and simplifying Taijiquan, for use as a health promoting exercise. Many of the more complicated and repeated movements were deleted from the long form for ease of learning and practicing. The sequence starts off with very simple movements and gradually becomes more complicated. Even though the 24 Posture Taijiquan sequence is a simplified version of the long form, it is still a traditional sequence with the original martial applications in every movement.
It consists of 20 different postures from the Yang Style Long Sequence. Three of the postures are done on both left and right sides, and one of the postures repeats itself, making a total of 24 postures. Because this sequence is based on Yang Style Taijiquan, the training guidelines and principles of Simplified Taijiquan follow the characteristic flavor of the Yang Style. The entire Simplified Taijiquan sequence should be performed at an even pace with no abrupt changes in the transition, and following the guidelines and principles outlined in the Detail sections of this DVD and in the textbook 'Tai Chi Chuan'.
The instructions are presented with as much relevant information as possible in the Detail Section. For beginners, there may be too many details to assimilate at one time. In classroom instruction, the instructor often tells students to only pay attention to one or two aspects of the sequence at a time. As students get better at the primary aspects of the sequence, the teacher will then introduce more aspects of the movements to the students. As you learn from this video, it is recommended that you do the same — focus on one aspect at a time. When you begin to learn the postures, don't be overly concerned with coordinating your breathing with the movements. Once your movements are smooth, then start to pay attention to your breathing. Study the detailed guidelines and principles and try to incorporate them into the entire sequence.
Liang, Shou-Yu was born on June 28, 1943 in the city of Chongqian, Sichuan Province, China. When he was six he began his training in Qigong, the art of breathing and internal energy control, under the tutelage of his renowned grandfather, the late Liang, Zhi-Xiang. Mr. Liang was taught the esoteric skills of the Emei Mountain sect, including Da Peng Qigong. When he was eight, his grandfather made special arrangements for him to begin training Emei Wushu (martial arts).

UFO Sightings Reported in China's Heilongjiang Province
Heilongjiang - At least 8 unidentified flying objects have been spotted falling from the sky and landing in two places in Heilongjiang province from yesterday, Chinanews.com reported.
The Yi'an county government confirmed in the afternoon that Mengchang villagers heard a big noise and then saw a big ball of fire falling down to a vegetable garden belonging to a villager.
Photos taken by villagers showed that the object is a metal ball, half-covered by a layer with a jagged edge.
Two other similar objects were spotted falling from the sky and down to the neighboring Baiquan county.
One object had a diameter of 70 centimers and weighed around 40 kilograms, China Central Television reported.
The two places have been blocked off, and an investigation is underway.
UFOs suspected to be rocket debris
A Russian Proton-M rocket carrying an Express-AM4R communications satellite crashed outside of Kazakhstan's territory on Friday, about nine minutes after lift-off, Russia media outlet ITAR-Tass reported.
The crash was likely caused by a failure in one of the third stage's steering engines, according to Oleg Ostapenko, the head of the Russian national space agency Roscosmos.
The rocket was about 100 miles into its ascent at the time and burned up in the atmosphere, the agency reported. It also quoted Ostapenko as saying that the rocket and all the debris had burned up in the atmosphere.
The mishap marks the second time a Proton rocket has destructed after lift-off within a year. In July, an unmanned Proton rocket exploded after lift-off over Kazakhstan.
The lost Express AM4R satellite, worth more than 200 million euros ($275 million), was described by its maker Astrium - a unit of the European aerospace group Airbus - as one of the most powerful satellites built in Europe, according to Reuters.
Although Russia claimed that the fragments of the rocket and its cargo burned up in the atmosphere and could not cause any damage, some Chinese media suspected that five unidentified flying objects spotted falling from the sky and landing in three villages in China's Heilongjiang Province on Friday morning were parts of the rocket. Witnesses saw a fireball sweep across the sky before falling, chinanews.com reported. Photos online showed a round metal object with a jagged opening.
The three sites have been blocked for investigation, according to the news portal, and local authorities said nothing dangerous had been found so far.
