Travel in Bali - Scooter tour in Bali countryside 1
Morning trip before we are departing to San Francisco, the scrooter usually rent by day, even we just use it for one hour ;(.
The road in Bali is very narrow, so the scooter is sometimes faster than cars.
BALI’S MOST BEAUTIFUL PLACE - Hidden Rice Field in Sidemen Village
We found Bali’s most beautiful place in a hidden rice field in Sidemen Village. Never heard of Sidemen Bali? Not surprised, as it’s one of the most hidden spots in Bali! At the foot of Mount Agung, Sidemen Village in North Bali boasts the best Bali rice fields without ANY tourists like Tegallalang or Jatiluwih. Watch this video to see a Bali hotel tour, drone shots of the Bali volcano and some of the most relaxing places in Bali you could ever imagine.
We were on the hunt for a Bali rice terrace that wasn’t crowded with tourists. We wanted to explore an undiscovered Bali that nobody has covered on Youtube yet. We found that in Sidemen Village. First we’ll share with you the best hotel in Bali that we’ve stayed in called Abian Ayu Villa. Overlooking Mount Agung, our Bali rice field villa had the most incredible views. After the room tour, it’s time to explore.
If you’re looking for an Ubud alternative, we highly suggest Sidemen as part of Bali not many have discovered yet. Without maps or pinned locations, we were able to find a local Bali village’s water system that irrigates the entire towns rice fields. We took a small hike to find a river running deep in the middle of the North Bali forest just waiting to be discovered.
Next up, what you’ve been waiting for: The best of Bali. One of the most hidden spots in Bali, the unnamed rice terraces we found in Sidemen Village were some of the most incredible sights we’ve seen so far on our travels throughout South East Asia. If this isn’t Bali’s most beautiful place, we don’t know what is. Similar to the hotel, the rice terraces overlook Mount Agung and you are set in a rural Balinese village with the only inhabitants being local workers and the occasional chicken. We thought this was so much more special than trying to travel Bali based off popular blog posts and tourist locations. There is something really amazing about discovering a place that is off the beaten place. The real Bali.
Although Sidemen Village is still a part of undiscovered Bali, we’re confident that it won’t be hidden for long. You can still travel to Sidemen Bali and see the local life, experience incredible scenery, and have the place practically all to yourself. We think that Sidemen village should be on your list of top places in Bali if you’re an adventure seeker and enjoy spots that are off the beaten path. Don’t worry, Sidemen still has wifi and a few infinity pools because, hey, you’re still on vacation right? ;)
Let us know if this hidden rice field in Bali would make your Bali most beautiful places list! We can recommend both the area and the hotel to you guys 100%. Make sure to check out Sidemen Bali, as we don’t think it will be a part of Bali secret places for long. Make sure to subscribe for more videos in Bali Indonesia and we would love to hear your plans to travel Bali down below in the comments.

A jewel of south east asia, Bali is full of scenic countryside, beautiful beaches and stunning coastlines, all easily accessible via moped. En route check out the local architecture and statues, and the curious monkeys.
Also worth checking out are the traditional Balinese dancers, continuing the ancient tradition that is part of the religious and artistic expression of the people of Bali island, Indonesia. The dancers express their stories of folklore through bodily gestures including gestures of the finger, hands, head and eyes, in a dynamic, angular and intensely expressive display.

Sidemen Cycling: East Bali’s Countryside Charm at Sidemen Village
From Bali’s well-known islands, we reveal some hidden treasures
Rice terraces, volcano views and jungle-tangled gorges make sleepy Sidemen feel like the Bali that time forgot. There’s not a great deal to do in this rambling district in the foothills of Mount Agung, and it’s a fair old schlep from the tourist meccas of Ubud, Seminyak, Nusa Dua and Canggu, but that’s rather the point. Wander through the rice paddies to a temple or two, get lost on the web of shady paths that weave their way through the woodlands, or simply soak in the staggering views of Bali’s sacred mountain, Gunung Agung on a bike.
Bali is prime biking land. Island of the Gods boasts green rice fields, lush valleys, towering mountains and unique temples. And you can be a part of all that in just one day of cycling. Pedal up and down the terrain of East Bali and be treated to amazing sites that will leave you in awe scores of unforgettable moments.
You will cycle through valleys of uninterrupted rice terrace views, see plantations bearing a variety of crops, pass fighting cocks in baskets, and experience the daily life of the Balinese. Some well-trodden footpaths meander through the rice fields. With plenty of intoxicating views, crags and rivers to cross, and a smattering of temples, this is a rambler's paradise.
In Sidemen (pronounced Si-da-men), a walk in any direction is a communion with nature. Winding through one of Bali's most beautiful river valleys, the road to this hilltop village offers marvellous paddy-field scenery, a delightful rural character and extraordinary views of Gunung Agung (when the clouds permit).
German artist Walter Spies lived in this part of Bali for some time from 1932 in order to escape the perpetual party of his own making in Ubud. Later the Swiss painter Theo Meier, nearly as famous as Spies for his influence on Balinese art, lived in the same house. These days, tourists head here to get away from the bustle of the island's larger towns and hike the scenic countryside
Situated at the foothills of the majestic Mount Agung, Sidemen Village invites travellers to experience a rural side of Bali; agricultural life with refreshing green views. The village is surrounded by rice farms, making the village are entitled to ‘Ubud: 20 years ago’. Well, that title was popular a while ago, yet seems still relevant as we speak.
More than just an exotic playground, the island is blessed with fertile plains and virginal rainforest, with the mountainous terrain and deep-blue waters of the Indonesian Ocean offering huge scope for both on and off-land excursions. Whether it is cycling adventure, ocean excursions or just plain out relaxation, Top Indonesia’s got you covered.

Bali- A Simple Life in Paradise
From the Global Village Travel Guide
New HD program and Bali stock footage:
Transcript:
The material aspects of Balinese life are simple.
The tropics require little in the way of clothing and shelter,
and the land is generous in providing food and raw materials.
These people have maintained a simplicity in full-filling their needs, and this has given them leisure time to develop a rich lifestyle.
Although clothing worn for festival occasions is stunning and expensive, everyday clothing is plain and practical.
This relationship is true also of thier diet. Festive occasions see the men joining in on the kitchen duties when gourmet feasts are prepared.
Ordinary meals, however are simple to the point of being boring. The kitchen of a traditional Bali home is very, very basic.
They don't sit down to a table or eat togather,.
but take thier meals off to themselves.
The most common meal is cold steamed rice with a sauce of liquid fire.and perhaps some vegetable
The austerity of home cooking is relieved somewhat through the services of food vendors.
The natives are known as nibblers and support a large number of these vendors.
Little roadsides stands, called Warrongs, are present nearly everywhere , and a great deal of social life goes on at these Bali-style fast food counters.
As with food and clothing, so also, are the needs for shelter met with great simplicity.
A home in bali is a walled area or compound rather than a building .
Inside the wall, four or more simple pavillions provide shelter. Most pavillions are built without walls.
These Pavillions, called BALL, are raised platforms of mud, and brick or stone protected by a thick roof of grass, palm, and bamboo.
These roofs, when made well, will last twenty-five years in this hot wet climate. The grass thatch called Alang-Alang, is gathered from the sides of ridges too steep to support rice paddies.
Bamboo for the roofs grows in the creek canyons and where-ever it's allowed to take hold.
Not only is much of the home built with it, but also, beds, ladders, bridges, water containers, and kitchen utinsels.
Irrigation pipes and even smoking pipes are fashioned from it. Screens and walls are woven from it , as well as trays, baskets and sun hats. There are medicines made from bamboo and the young shoots are a tasty food.
With a weight to strengh ratio similar to steel, this fast growing member of the grass family is immensely valuable to the islands residants.

Epic Bali Holiday: Uluwatu, Ubud, Tagallalang, Lovina, Menjangan, Kuta
Days 1-2: We stayed in Kuta for the first two nights. Kuta is just a 15 minute drive from the airport in Denpasar, which is the capital of Bali. From Kuta, we visited Tanah Lot Temple (40-60 minutes west of Kuta) as well as Uluwatu and Padang Padang (which are south of Kuta).
Days 2-4: We traveled about one hour north by bus to Ubud, which is known as Bali's cultural and artistic heartland. The bus cost just 70,000 Rupiah per person. There we visited the Ubud Palace, spent a morning in the Tagallalang terraced rice fields, and went on a bicycle tour through the countryside, which was filled with more beautiful rice fields.
Days 4-6: We traveled even further north (about three hours) to Lovina, which is famous for morning dolphin watching. The bus from Ubud costs approximately 90,000 Rupiah per person. We, of course, saw dolphins; you have to be out on the water by 6:15 am-ish in order to do this. We also took a day trip to Menjangan Island (1.5 hours by bus + 30 minute boat ride) for snorkeling.
Days 7-8: We returned to Kuta Beach for surfing and relaxation. In addition to hanging out on the beach, we explored the boutiques of Seminyak, shopped at the surf outlets, and rented a scooter and drove out to Nusa Dua.
Bali is incredible!! Can't wait to go back!

IS UBUD JUST A TOURIST TRAP? | Bali, Indonesia
I had a few days in Ubud exploring and taking in the 'rural countryside' of Bali. A month post Mt. Agung's volcanic eruption, people are saying that Bali is much quieter than usual. Well, it didn't seem that way in Ubud!
