This is How to Explore Bangkok Chinatown Like a Local
Did you know that Bangkok Chinatown is rich in culture and history? With Hansa, our Local Expert, you will get to know more about the Bangkok Chinatown of the past and also the present. As a member of the community, Hansa will begin the trip by having you try the Yadong, a herbal liquor or Nam Kom, a herbal bitter tea to balance your body. Then, she'll show you the beautiful joss papers in the Charoen Chai Community, the main commercial district of this area. For a bit of Bangkok Chinatown's history, she will take you to Baan Kao Lao Rueang, an old house in the area, which has now become the community's museum. Then, you’ll get to try some traditional Chinese snacks that locals love at the local joss paper shop. As for a bit of culture, you'll also visit Leng Nei Yi Temple, perhaps the most important Chinese temple in all of Bangkok. Don't worry if you're hungry, we'll head to Leng Bua Eia market, for a local Chinese lunch. And for a last blast to the past, we'll head to nearby Sampeng area to visit the hidden Chinese opium shrine, an old deserted mansion, and a mosque, in Chinatown. That's right, a mosque!
So if you're interested in the local culture, history, and the Chinese traditions, don't hesitate to join Hansa in Chinatown for a day!
