We started the day by heading to Wat Saket or the Golden Mount to get some incredible views of the city. After that my friend Fai took me to the Banglamphu Market to try four different dishes.
To end my day I went on an epic street food tour of Chinatown with Get Your Guide. We tried tons of Thai and Chinese dishes and different drinks and desserts.
When you visit Bangkok I highly recommend eating as many dishes as you can. It's the best way to really appreciate the unique flavors the country has to offer.

WHAT HAPPENED TO KHAO SAN ROAD? | Bangkok Market, Nightlife & Backpacker Heaven
Khao San Road was the nightlife hub of Bangkok, famous in Thailand. It's still a night market, but is it still a backpacker haven? ✈ Our 220 page guide on how to travel for a living —
Khao San Road is one of the most famous and iconic areas in Bangkok.. maybe even all of Thailand. Khao San night market has always been a thing, but it was also famous for it's bars, street vendors, fake goods, tattoo shops, massage parlours and more.
This travel vlog takes us on a trip to see if it's still what it was, to see if the old Koh San Road nightlife is still worth visiting! Because In August 2018 restrictions were put on the vendors, stopping them from being out in the day time and restricting where they could go in the evening after 6pm only. Apparently that meant a much more tame existence on the street and less buzz.
From what we experience, the nightlife is still strong, the market setup hasn't gone and things still get a lot more wild if you stay later into the night or early morning! (which we didn't ????)

#2WeeksInBangkok - Day 1:
On Day 1 in this Bangkok travel and food guide video series we left our house in Bangkok, and checked into a hotel near Khao San Road in the Banglamphu area of Bangkok, and then had one of the most ridiculously creamy versions of tom yum goong (ต้มยำกุ้ง).
2:09 Lunch - Before doing anything, I had a quick lunch at home, cooked by my mother in law.
3:30 Leaving Home - After a quick lunch, we left our house, and to get to the Khao San Road are we took the BTS skytrain to National Stadium Station, then walked over to the Khlong Saen Saeb canal where we caught the Bangkok canal boat to Phanfa Leelard Pier, which is the final boat station. From there we walked over to Khao San Road, and to our hotel called Full House Khao San, and checked in.
7:31 Tom Yum Goong Banglamphu (ร้านต้มยำกุ้งบางลำพู) - After checking into our hotel, we were pretty hungry again, so we dropped our bags, and then headed off to go to a restaurant called Tom Yum Goong Banglamphu (ร้านต้มยำกุ้งบางลำพู ), it was my first time to eat here and the food was incredible. We ordered two Thai shrimp dishes including tom yum goong (ต้มยำกุ้ง) soup and pla goong (พล่ากุ้ง) which is a shrimp salad. The shrimp were incredibly good, so buttery and so rich and creamy. No sure if it’s the best tom yum goong in Bangkok, but it was definitely one of the best I’ve had and made it to my list of top tom yum in Bangkok. The pla goong (พล่ากุ้ง) was also delicious, nice and sour and spicy. Get more details here:
13:44 Khao San Road and Rambuttri - After an excellent early dinner we headed off to walk around Khao San Road and the parallel Rambuttri, both of which are the center of backpacking tourism in Bangkok. There are many restaurants, bars, and hostels along the streets. We mostly just took a walk through, and then headed over to Phra Athit Road.
16:49 Park and Chao Phraya River, Suan Santichai (สวนสันติชัย) - After walking through Khao San Road, we headed to the Chao Phraya River, and enjoyed the view from Suan Santichai (สวนสันติชัย). We happen to arrive just as they were doing the evening aerobics, which is always interesting to see, and I also enjoyed the views of the Phra Sumen fort at night.
17:43 Roti Mataba (โรตีมะตะบะ) Restaurant - One of the long standing famous restaurants along Phra Athit road is Roti Mataba (โรตีมะตะบะ) Restaurant. I had been here years ago, so I was happy to eat here again. They specialize mainly in Halal Thai food, specifically curry and roti mataba (stuffed roti). Ying and I had the roti mataba pla (โรตีมะตะบะปลา), roti stuffed with fish, the gaeng kari pla (แกงกะหรี่ปลา), a type of Thai fish curry, and the kiew wan gai (เขียวหวานไก่), green chicken curry. The food overall was a bit on the sweet side, not my favorite, but alright. It was a good way to end a wonderful first day on this Bangkok trip!

Khaosan Road ถนนข้าวสาร
Khaosan Road or Thanon Khaosan is a popular tourist street in central Bangkok, Thailand. It is located in the Banglamphu area about 1 kilometer north of the Grand Palace (Wat Phra Kaew) 'Khaosan' translates as 'milled rice', a reminder that the street was once a major Bangkok rice market. In the last 20 years, however, Khaosan Road has developed into a world famous 'backpacker paradise.” It offers cheap accommodation, ranging from 'mattress in a box' style hotels to reasonably priced 3-star hotels. Khaosan shops sell handcrafts, paintings, clothes and second-hand books, plus many useful backpacker items.
Khaosan Road in recent years has become popular with local residents, especially artists and art students. At night, Khaosan is a lively street packed with tourists come to explore walking street and night life. There are clubs, bars, food stalls and shops open until 2 a.m. The area is internationally known as a center of dancing, partying, specially during the traditional Thai New Year (Songkran festival April 13-15), when water splashing festival turns into water fight.
Khaosan also has a Buddhist temple under royal patronage. The centuries old Wat Chana Songkram is directly opposite Khaosan Road to the west while the area to the northwest contains an Islamic community and several small mosques.

Walking Trips Khao San Road Bangkok Thailand - 4K
Khaosan Road or Khao San Road (Thai: ถนนข้าวสาร) is a short (410 meter long) street in central Bangkok, Thailand constructed in 1892 during the reign of Rama V. It is in the Banglamphu area of (Phra Nakhon district) about 1 kilometre (0.62 mi) north of the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew.
Khaosan translates as milled rice, a reminder that in former times the street was a major Bangkok rice market. In the last 20 years, however, Khaosan Road has developed into a world-famous backpacker ghetto. It offers cheap accommodation, ranging from mattress in a box style hotels to reasonably priced 3-star hotels.
It is also a base of travel: coaches leave daily for all major tourist destinations in Thailand, from Chiang Mai in the north to Ko Pha Ngan in the south, and there are many relatively inexpensive travel agents who can arrange visas and transportation to the neighbouring countries of Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, and Vietnam.
Khaosan shops sell handicrafts, paintings, clothes, local fruits, unlicensed CDs, DVDs, a wide range of fake IDs, used books, plus many useful backpacker items.
During late evening, the streets turn into bars and music is played, food hawkers sell barbecued insects, exotic snacks for tourists, and there are also local people selling ping pong shows.
There are several cafes, pubs and bars where backpackers meet to discuss their travels. The area is internationally known as a center of dancing, partying, and just prior to the traditional Thai New Year (Songkran festival) of 13–15 April, water splashing that usually turns into a huge water fight. One Thai writer has described Khaosan as ...a short road that has the longest dream in the world.
A Buddhist temple under royal patronage, the centuries-old Wat Chana Songkram, is directly opposite Khaosan Road to the west, while the area to the northwest contains an Islamic community and several small mosques.

It offers cheap accommodation, ranging from 'mattress in a box' style hotels to reasonably priced 3-star hotels. In an essay on the backpacker culture of Khaosan Road, Susan Orlean called it The Place to Disappear. It is also a base of travel: coaches leave daily for all major tourist destinations in Thailand, from Chiang Mai in the North to Ko Pha Ngan in the South, and there are many relatively inexpensive travel agents who can arrange visas and transportion to the neighbouing countries of Cambodia, Laos and Malaysia, as well as Vietnam.

SMALL LOCAL THAI COMMUNITY - BAN BU | Thonburi, Bangkok Noi, Bangkok, Thailand
My curiosity lead me to this small Thai community known as Ban Bu, in Thonburi, Bangkok Not, Bangkok, Thailand.
I saw some locals walk through a small pathway near Thonburi train station, so my curiosity got the best of me and made me explore.
I really like Ban Bu community, there's some old traditional Thai houses and stores. The alleyway itself looks really interesting, but there are quite a lot of motorbikes riding through there. At times, speeding through, which can be a bit dangerous.
But never the less, Ban Bu community is a place I highly recommend if you want to see the local side of Bangkok, Thailand.
