Biking Portland & Springwater Corridor Trail - Portland, Oregon - August 22, 2017
This is biking the Springwater corridor trail in Portland Oregon beginning at the Sellwood Park going toward Gresham Oregon.
A section of this trail is still under repair so a Detour had to be taken. This section has some really nice bridges and gets more rural as you bike towards Gresham. Made a biker friend named Grant on the way ended the video on Flavel Street. Beautiful cool overcast morning in Portland Oregon really like this trail!
Highway 26 to Vernonia Oregon - almost a head on
Not particularly twisty or fast - but a near head on collision got my heart pumping. FF to 4:20 to see me put it on the shoulder to avoid a truck in my lane on a near blind corner.

Vernonia, Oregon
Vernonia is a city in Columbia County, Oregon, United States. It is located on the Nehalem River, in a valley on the eastern side of the Northern Oregon Coast Range that is the heart of one of the most important timber-producing areas of the state. Logging has played a large role in the history of the city. The population was 2,151 at the 2010 census.
The community was first settled in 1874 by the Parker and Van Blaricom families. Cousins Judson Weed and Ozias Cherrington, both of Ohio arrived in 1876. Sometime afterwards, the question of a name for the community came up, and Cherrington suggested the name of his daughter (Vernona) in Ohio, which was adopted. Due to a clerical error during the incorporation process, an i was inserted in the name. Cherrington died of a farming accident in 1894, having never seen his daughter since his departure from Ohio.
Vernonia started to become more than an isolated farming community on July 10, 1924, when the Oregon-American Lumber Company opened a state-of-the-art lumber mill, which was supported by a railroad line connecting Vernonia to the rest of the country. Oregon-American merged with Long-Bell Lumber Company in May 1953, which itself merged with International Paper in November 1957. International Paper judged the mill antiquated, and closed it on December 20, 1957.
The city has been severely impacted by floods on multiple occasions. The rains that caused the Willamette Valley Flood of 1996 flooded Vernonia as well; some homes in the floodplain were elevated, and some flooring materials were replaced, mitigating some damage from later flooding. In 2007, heavy storms that impacted the Pacific Northwest washed out roads and destroyed homes, cars, and communications infrastructure. Despite preparations in 1996, in some parts of town flood water reached above the 100 year base flood elevation.

STORYLINE
Residents of Oregon and Washington state continued to clean up and sift through their belongings, after a powerful strom brought havoc to the US northwest.
Red Cross relief workers, state officials and prison inmates converged in Vernonia, Oregon, a Coast Range timber town that was overwhelmed by fast-rising floodwater on Monday and Tuesday.
Oregon governor,Ted Kulongoski, toured the areas devastated by the storm and declared a state of emergency and authorised the use of state resources to help those communities suffering from the effects of severe weather.
Gordon Smith, a shopkeeper who met with Kulongoski during his visit to Vernonia said he asked the governor to send in work crews to help with the town's clean up.
They brought out 30 of them for us today, Gordon told AP Television, it's great, we need manpower, God bless them all.
Townspeople were tossing their damaged household goods onto an impromptu dump in the middle of town. By midday, it was several car lengths long.
Some landline telephone service had been restored, and a Federal Emergency Management Agency mobile communications truck was assisting with cell phone service, officials said.
Cell-phone firm Verizon said it was restoring landline service and bringing in a 42-foot portable cell tower that would serve both its customers and those of competitors who have agreements with Verizon.
And in Washington state, the Chehalis River was perhaps the single largest problem.
It crested about 10 feet (3 metres) above normal flood levels near Centralia on Tuesday morning, with huge areas in Centralia, Chehalis and other parts of Lewis County under water.
In nearby Grays Harbor County, where as many as 25 thousand were still without electricity on Wednesday evening.
Officials were watching nervously as the flood worked its way downriver toward Aberdeen and the Pacific Ocean.

Cottonwood Canyon - Oregon Springtime Desert Hiking [4K] | Wild Equestria (Episode 5)
For our first 2018 day hike, we headed to Cottonwood Canyon to hike the Pinnacles Trail. The 10.5 mile path wound over desert sagebrush steppes, rocky cliffs, outcroppings, and colorful, gently rolling washes along the John Day River. Along the way, we saw three rattlesnakes on the trail! Given that we were there so early in the spring, the desert was rather ironically lush and green, lol. Portions of the trail were literally carved into (read:inside) the cliff-sides. The Pinnacles are a set of basalt pillars at the end of the trail–I filmed Flutterbat and Twilight next to these pillars (seen towards the end of the video). Also, first time really getting to use my new gimbal. Absolutely love it!
