Barcelona Largest Market / Antique Auctions | Walking Tour / Barcelona - Onel's Travel
Mercat dels Encats is Barcelona's largest and best known flea market. Interesting for the mix of really rubbish things ( old cosmetics, old rusty bikes) and gems like vintage furniture, clothes, books.
Antique Auctions take place Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays from 7pm to 9pm.
When all the commercial buyers are there and again at 12pm when all the unsold goods drop in price. The furniture in the big hall to the side ot the market is incredible and worth a look in.

Barcelona, Catalonia, Spain
Barcelona, Spain: Gothic Quarter, Ramblas, Placa de Catalunya, Cathedral, Royal Palace, Placa de St. Jaume, Carrer de Farran, Placa Neri, Placa dei Pi, Placa Reial. Revised version of previous movie, now in HD.
Along the Mediterranean shore of eastern Spain lies Barcelona, one of the great cities of Europe to put high on your list of places to see. Although its sprawling metropolitan area is home to 4.2 million residents, you can easily see the main attractions of this country’s second-largest city in just a few days by walking through its square-mile historic center.
It would be smart to spend most of your time in and around the old section of town, called the Barri Gotic, or Gothic Quarter, a giant pedestrian zone surviving from ancient days. Barcelona has a large number of historic sites, museums, shops and tourist destinations, but the best attraction for many visitors will simply be this large pedestrian district. It is perhaps the most extensive automobile-free district in Europe (except for Venice, which has no roads at all). Of course, Barcelona has plenty of cars, trucks and buses on the busy main streets, but it is easy to get away from them.
Indeed, one of the most enjoyable activities in Barcelona is simply taking a walk through the many narrow lanes, away from the traffic. They wander, bend and curve like the maze of a travel mystery that leads to the overwhelming question: what’s coming up next? Remember to look left and right as you pass the smaller alleys intersecting with the main lanes.

Barcelona Gothic Quarter walking tour
Barcelona Gothic Quarter walking tour takes us to some of the main plazas of town and those charming little pedestrian lanes.
While Barcelona has many famous sites and museums, one of the great pleasures is just hanging out, just taking a stroll, sitting down relaxing, watching the people go by. We'll visit Plaza St Jaume, Plaça de Sant Josep Oriol, the Rambla, Les Quinze Nits, Carrer de Jaume, Barcelona Cathedral, with highlights of the Mercè Festival Barcelona.
And we'll see the grand plaza of the Plaça Reial, that's the Royal Square, built in the nineteenth century. It's surrounded by magnificent arcades on all sides and anchored by a grand fountain in the center.
While this is a very popular touristic destination, it's also a public space that's utilized by the locals, especially when they're putting on an outdoor concert at one of their various festivals.
On Sundays they have a flea market with antiques and collectibles. The street market could be a good place to pick up an authentic souvenir – better than a tourist shop, but perhaps the main attraction of the Royal Square are the many restaurants lining it all the way around.
It's even more lively at night than during the day, primarily because of all the busy restaurants and it's like an outdoor living room for the people who live here. Even if you're not hungry this is certainly an interesting spot to pass through in the evening.
There's even a couple of small deluxe hotels on the square and just looking around at all the food, restaurants you'll quickly work up an appetite.
And don't hesitate to take a walk at night in the heart of Barcelona, for example, once again back out here on the Rambla. It really is quite safe because there are so many people around, the streets are pretty well lit. You don't want to miss out on that, and the Spaniards, as you know stay up late so the restaurants are open.
One of the busiest pedestrian streets is Carrer de Jaume, which is actually part of a much longer street that goes from one end of downtown to the other, changing names to Carrer de la Princesa and as we saw earlier, Carrer de Ferran.
That culinary favorite of pizza is always available, and gelato – that could be your staple dishes in town, along with the tapas and the vino.
This lively street inevitably leads into its namesake the Plaça St Jaume, where City Hall is located, other government buildings and lots of people. Tonight there was a special event, part of the Mercè Festival, lighting up the buildings with moving illuminations and music.
Over 100 events with music and dance performances take place on that Mercè Festival weekend. We will show you a little bit more of this and the sardana dance at the end of the show.
And if you enjoyed the movie, how about a thumbs up, and we always welcome comments down below.

Walking in BARCELONA / Spain ????????- Poble Sec, El Raval to Plaça de España - 4K 60fps (UHD)
This time in Barcelona we start near the Sala Apolo at the Jardins de les 3 Xemeneies - Barcelona's graffity park. We cross the Av del Parallel walk around side streets of Poble Sec before crossing over to El Ravel on our way to La Rambla.
On the famous walking street La Rambla we check the market La Boqueria and walk all the way from Plaça Universitat to Plaça Espanya. We see a less touristy side of Barcelona on our way within the distance of three metro stations.
At the Plaça Espanya we are almost at the end. We finally walk up to the Magic fountains of Montjuïc, which operate mostly on weekend evenings. We finish this walk up at the Museu Nacional d'Art de Catalunya - the National Art Museum of Catalunya. There we enjoy a great view over Barcelona.
