Cedar Springs Dam Silverwood Lake, Ca
Cedar Springs Dam is part of Silverwood Lake which is a large reservoir in San Bernardino County, California, The dam is located off hwy 174 about 3 miles north of hwy 18 located on the west fork of the Mojave River in the San Bernardino Mountains.
Stringer Media was glad to film this dam as a part of our park reviews.
Rating: On a scale of 1-10 We give this park a 7 for it's beauty and because it is still free to visit and park your car. Also, for no visual evidence of crime. Fishing is allowed but you do still need a fishing license. Walking along the top of the dam is fun and great for exercise. The concrete path is about 1/2 mile long with a dam monitoring station at the far end. Sight seeing is nice as there were birds, ducks, people fishing and boating. We give this place a 5 for a dirty restroom. There is only one and I spoke to a ranger about why the restroom was dirty all the time and he said ever since the cutback when Obama came into office they have been under staffed. So the restrooms only get cleaned once a week. We also give it a 5 because it gets so windy late afternoon around 2:00 pst. So you can no longer fish because the wind is blowing your gear right back into your face.
We recommend visiting the dam as it is a very nice experience. The best time is between morning till noon. Weekends are busy as there is also an off road trail entrance in the same parking lot.

Silverwood Lake was formed by the 249-foot Cedar Springs Dam. At 3,350 feet, it is the highest reservoir in the State Water Project. The park features hiking trails, swimming beaches and designated areas for boating, water-skiing and fishing. The lake has trout, large mouth bass, catfish and bluegill. There is a marina with a launching ramp, boat and equipment rentals, and a store. The park has picnic areas, including three that can only be reached by boat. The lake attracts waterfowl, raptors and songbirds. Canada Geese and an occasional bald eagle can be seen in the area.
Pacific Crest Trail
The Pacific Crest Trail is the jewel in the crown of America's scenic trails, spanning 2,650 miles from Mexico to Canada through three western states. The trail passes through five California State Parks: Castle Crags and McArthur-Burney Falls in Northern California; and Silverwood Lake, Anza Borrego Desert and Mt. San Jacinto in Southern California
