Nelson | New Zealand
A visit to a friend meant had time to check Nelson out, second time in Nelson but first time having a look around through the city. Here are some clips for my short visit here. Thank you for watching, enjoy :)
Drive through Nelson, New Zealand
This is the view from the passenger side of my car, driving from home to the grocery, through the middle of town on a Sunday afternoon. If you've ever thought of visiting the area, this might give you an idea about what the streets and storefronts look like, along with Sunday traffic. Notice the ocean off to the left at the beginning (with Haulashore Island) -- as well as the wonderful bright blue sky.
The video was captured with a GoPro Hero 4 at 1080p 30fps. The camera was hand-held outside the window. No narration or other voice, just wind and car noise.
Nelson, New Zealand
First of many trips this year. We flew from Christchurch to Nelson and drove back to Christchurch.
A day in Nelson - New Zealand
A quick video about Nelson city. One of the greatest cities in New Zealand.
Recorded in one day.
Nelson Skywire On Ride POV - Happy Valley Adventures (Nelson, New Zealand)
The launch of the trip point of view. It must be said, this was far better than any video could show.
From their website...
The Skywire is the first of its kind - and it's our own invention!
Set high on forest hills above the sea and river valleys this is an amazing innovation and a superb eco ride. You soar like a bird for over 3km, up to 150m above beautiful native forest. You experience high speeds mixed with absolute quiet while admiring the 1000 shades of green below.
The Thrill
Securely fastened in one of four racing car seats in the Skywire chair, your ride takes you both forwards and BACKWARDS for nearly ten minutes of thrilling adventure.
The first 800m freewheeling drop can reach 100kph yet many say the fast backwards run is the most unforgettable moment. Universally appealing to all this unique concept attracts those who want a thrilling ride yet also feel secure in the highest standard of equipment safety.

Quite possibly my favorite city in New Zealand, Nelson is located on the north end of the South Island! Close to Golden Bay and Abel Tasman, Nelson provides a quaint yet creative atmosphere and its microclimate location provides sunny, beautiful days nearly all year long!
Upon arrival in October, I fell in love with this place passing through on a road trip. I returned in February with the amazing opportunity to stay for a little over a month. A lot of scenes from this video were shot on the road along the Maitai River, to the enchanting Blackhole Swimming Hole! I will miss Nelson very much but I am extremely grateful for the time I spent there, and recommend it to anybody craving a lil sunshine and feel good vibes during their New Zealand adventures!

Nelson Travel Guide - New Zealand Charming Experience
Nelson Travel Guide - New Zealand Charming Experience
Nelson is the second oldest settled city in New Zealand and the oldest in the South Island. Nelson is situated in a region often known as Nelson Tasman or the Top of the South. It is actually slightly north of the capital city of Wellington. Together with Richmond, it has a population of around 50,000 ranking it as New Zealand’s tenth most populous city and is the geographical centre of the nation.
Nelson is a compact coastal city set amongst some of New Zealand's most stunning scenery. The city is the economic and cultural centre for the Nelson-Tasman region and offers an excellent range of shopping, eating and cultural experiences with an abundance of parks, rivers, beaches and nature trails to explore. Nelson is named after British admiral Viscount Nelson and many streets and features such as Trafalgar Park and Hardy, Collingwood and Nile Streets, are named after his naval battles and comrades.
Nelson is New Zealand's oldest city since, although it was proclaimed a Bishop's See and city under letters patent by Queen Victoria on 27 September 1858 and after Christchurch's city charter, Pakeha settlement had started in earnest in Nelson in 1841, 9 years before the good ship Charlotte-Jane arrived in Christchurch on 16 December 1850. Nelson is usually New Zealand's sunniest city with over 2,500 sunshine hours per year.
The Nelson region covers five distinct geographic areas:
The urban centres of Nelson & Richmond
The highways of Mapua, Motueka and upper and lower Moutere, through rolling horticultural land
The idyllic coastline of Abel Tasman National Park
The heart of the parks, Golden Bay between the huge Kahurangi and tiny Abel Tasman national parks
The alpine lakes and rivers around St Arnaud - Nelson Lakes & Murchison including Nelson Lakes and Kahurangi national parks
The Nelson economy is based on the ‘big four’ industries of seafood, horticulture, tourism and forestry. Port Nelson is the biggest fishing port in Australasia. There are also a range of growth industries, including art and craft, aviation, engineering technology, and information technology. The region's official tourism organisation is Nelson Tasman Tourism, which operates i-SITE Visitor Information Centres in Nelson City, Takaka in Golden Bay and in Murchison.
Nelson City is small enough to walk around, but for access from the surrounding suburbs and around the sites and attractions of the city and region you'll likely want to rent a car, take a taxi, or have a fresh set of legs and a bicycle. Nelson has a wide variety of excellent cafes and restaurants using fresh local produce. Nelson is the largest fishing port in Australasia, so the fresh seafood is always great. Nelson offers an excellent range of quality accommodation including Backpackers, Bed and Breakfasts (B&B's), Holiday Homes, Hotels, Lodges, Motels, Resorts and Serviced Apartments.

Abel Tasman Nat. Park, Takaka, Nelson, New Zealand Travel Video Guide
I have one day in the Nelson/Golden Bay area so decide to set myself a challenge of trying to hitchhike from Nelson to Takaka, and then onto Abel Tasman National Park. I learn about how the hippies moved into the Takaka region in the 1970's, and how even today the area is made up of lifestylers trying to live off the land.
'It takes six rides for this cat in a hat to explore this region by thumb, and there are not many places left in the world, where this can be done!'
