VIETNAM’S LARGEST MARKET - Ben Thanh Market Ho Chi Minh City - Cheap Shopping in Vietnam
We visited Vietnam’s largest market, the Ben Thanh Market in Ho Chi Minh City! This is where you can find the best cheap shopping in Vietnam. Think fake bags, cheap clothing, Vietnamese food, and incredible souvenirs all located within the Bến Thành Market. We show you the day market and the night market in Vietnam so you can make the best decision of which to visit.
The Ben Thanh Market in Saigon is the one of the largest and oldest Vietnam Markets. With over 3,000 vendors, Bến Thành is one of the best things to do in Saigon. You can find some of the best cheap shopping in Vietnam here all for incredible prices. The quality of the goods in this market are great and haggling is a must while you’re here! If you want to relax and avoid the bargaining, you can stay to the fixed pricing sections along the outer walls of Ben Thanh.
As far as a fake market in Vietnam is concerned, I would say you can find the highest quality knockoff goods here for the best prices. There are many markets in Saigon, but Ben Thanh is the biggest and most centrally located out of all. It is also the market that is most geared towards tourists so make sure you bring your best bargaining skills.
Vietnams largest market, also referred to as Cho Ben Thanh, is located in district 1 Ho Chi Minh city. You can find everything you need in district 1 including food, drinks, Vietnamese culture and more. After visiting Ben Thanh Market, you might want to hang around district 1 Saigon and wait for the Ben Thanh night market to kick off around 8pm.
Cho Ben Thanh is easily the top night market in Vietnam, particularly in Ho Chi Minh City. We enjoyed the night market in Saigon a little bit better than the day market because there was space to move around. However, both markets sell very similar items. If you’re looking for things to do in Saigon, we highly recommend both the Ben Thanh Market and the Ben Thanh Night Market.

Ben Thanh Market - 2020 | Ho Chi Minh City | Vietnam Fake Market - Cheap Shopping Vietnam
Ben Thanh Market in Ho Chi Minh City's District 1 is a great place to buy local handicrafts, branded goods, Vietnamese art and other souvenirs. Here, you’ll find eating stalls inside the market where you can get a taste of hawker-style Vietnamese cuisine or simply cool off with a cold drink when the bargaining becomes too much.
The market is big, difficult to navigate at times and certainly best avoided during the hottest part of the day but all the same its well worth a look. When night falls, restaurants around the perimeter of the market open their doors creating a vibrant street side scene filling the air with the scents of wok-fried noodles, barbecued fish and meats. One of Saigon’s oldest landmarks, Ben Thanh offers a great atmosphere that is absolutely authentically Vietnamese.

When in Ho Chi Minh City, i decided to visit one of the most popular markets in Vietnam, the Ben Thanh Market. This market is one of the earliest surviving structures in Saigon and is an important symbol of Ho CHi minh City. It’s sells a range of different things such as local handicrafts, textiles, coffee, souvenirs as well as local food. What is also sells is a huge variety of fake/ knock off items ranging from fake electronics e.g. fake airpods, fake supreme tees e.g. supreme hoodies & supreme x louis vuitton, fake nike and adidas clothing and even fake yeezys!) The list really is endless and includes things like Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Prada, Dolce & Gabbana, Balenciaga and much more.
Come along and join me on my shopping spree as i put my haggling & bargaining skills to the test. I said it before and I'll say it again, the vendors at the Ben Thanh Market hustle really hard, and it’s actually both impressive and inspiring to me; and honestly, they were the ones who made my experience there such a positive one.
Make sure you at least visit the Ben Thanh Market when you’re in Ho CHi Minh City, Vietnam. It really is a very exciting marketplace. Grab some food if you don’t want to go on a fake market shopping spree, or simply experience its hustle and bustle if you don’t want to buy anything at all.

Shopping Saigon Ben Thanh Market Ho Chi Minh City Vietnam
The prices in this particular Market in Saigon District 1, called Ben Thanh Market did not have very impressive prices actually. I found the prices in that market to be higher than expected. There is places in Ho Chi Minh City that you can get better prices. This market just so happens to be right in the city center so the prices are higher than usual.

Wiki writes about Ho Chi Minh City, Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnamese: Thành phố Hồ Chí Minh) formerly named and still informally known as Saigon (Vietnamese: Sài Gòn; [sàj ɣɔ̀ŋ] ), is the largest city in Vietnam by population. It was once known as Prey Nokor (Khmer: ព្រៃនគរ) prior to annexation by the Vietnamese in the 17th century. Under the name Saigon, it was the capital of the French colony of Cochinchina and later of the independent republic of South Vietnam 1955–75. On 2 July 1976, Saigon merged with the surrounding Gia Định Province and was officially renamed Ho Chi Minh City after revolutionary leader Hồ Chí Minh (although the name Sài Gòn is still widely used)...

Ben Thanh Market in Vietnam - Haggling and Expectations.
This market is like no other because the experience here is one-of-a-kind. Not everyone would like this market for various reasons but it's still a place worth checking out!
If you know how this market is and know what to expect, your experience won't be so bad. The vendors are aggressive in that they don't shy away from approaching you, they even won't take no as an answer at first. Some are more aggressive than others where they will pull you. Just know that it's normal there and they don't mean any harm by it. This is where most people have the bad experiences with this market. All you have to do is say no, thank you, and continue walking.
Vietnam is a place where there's no personal space. Ben Thanh Market is where you will see this. Vendors coming up to you, people bumping into you, and people not moving out of the way for you.
Main things to expect:
1) Vendors approaching you from all sides. They really really want your business.
2) It's hot inside there. Vietnam is a hot and humid country. The market doesn't have air conditioner.
3) You will smell things that are not pleasant such as durian, fish, and raw meat.
4) Negotiate if there's no price shown. Know your price, know the currency conversion, and stick to that price. It's ok to walk away because there will be another stall selling the same thing.
5) Negotiate hard because if they know you're a tourist they will mark it up 500% or even more.
6) You will get bumped. There are some areas where you will get up close to some people. Don't let this bother you but also make sure purse, wallets, phones, etc are kept safe. There are pickpocketers.
7) The name brand items are fake. Don't trust them if they say it's real.
My tip:
Don't buy anything right away. Most vendors sell the same things so it's good to test the water to see what the various prices are at different stalls. This market has priced items higher because it's a tourist trap. If you plan to visit central or northern Vietnam, you can probably find the same things there but at a lower cost. For example, the fake Adidas shirt I bought at Ben Thanh was for $4.40. When I went to Hoi An, Vietnam, they were selling it for $3.50.
Make sure that if you are talking to them, that you have a clear path out of the stall. They will use tactics to make it hard for you to leave because they block you in hoping that you will breakdown and buy it.
Be nice to the vendors even if they are a little pushy and charges you more because you're a tourist. I don't take it personally, I see it as the culture and just go with it.
Try the food court - don't be scared.

A walk inside Ben Thanh Market, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam.
Exploring Saigon - Food, War Remnants Museum, & Ben Thanh Market
In this Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City) travel and food vlog, get ready for lots of delicious food, and some of attractions in the city. More coming here:
I was attempting to go to the extremely famous Bánh Mì Huỳnh Hoa (Banh Mi Huynh Hoa), but somehow I missed that they were only open beginning in the afternoon, so instead I found another banh mi restaurant called Bánh Mì Hồng Hoa, which actually proved to be one of my favorite versions of the trip (I did end up going to Bánh Mì Huỳnh Hoa (Banh Mi Huynh Hoa) another time, so another video about that coming soon). But anyway, I ordered the normal special banh mi, a Vietnamese sandwich stuffed into a crusty baguette, and it was incredibly good. The bread was crusty and fresh, and they included just the right amount of toppings and ratio of ingredients. Happy full of the banh mi for breakfast, we then continued walking, and next stopped for a cup of Vietnamese coffee, which always hits the spot.
One of my goals for visiting Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), was to film a video about the top things to do, the attractions of the city. So after we ate breakfast, we then took a walk over to the Cathedral of Notre Dame, sort of in the main center of Saigon. The cathedral is a beautiful structure, and I did some filming and videos of both inside and outside the church. Right across the road from Notre Dame in Saigon is the Saigon Post Office, which I had actually visited the day before.
Next stop, we headed to the War Remnants Museum of Saigon, a museum in the central area of the city that showcases displays of mostly photography depicting the horrible acts and results of the Vietnam War. It definitely wasn’t a light museum, and nor was it much fun to visit, but it did offer a glimpse into the terrible events. After the museum, we then went to Tao Dan Park, which is located just across the street, where we just walked around.
After doing some sightseeing in Saigon, we were pretty hot and hungry, so walking around, we found a small restaurant, called Com Tam 77 to stop for lunch. The restaurant was located just on the outside of Tao Dan Park, not far from the Reunification Palace. I ordered one of the most popular Saigon Vietnamese dishes, a dish known as com tam suon, broken rice topped with a grilled pork chop, and an optional, but highly delicious fried egg on the top. The meal was very tasty, and it truly hit the spot.
After lunch, we headed back to the hotel, as the sun was beating down, and it looked like it would rain. I had a chance to do some work, and write some articles and edit some videos, and then we came out again to explore at around 4 pm when it was much cooler. We headed back to Ben Thanh Market, the central main market of the city, before moving outside, walking around for a bit more, and then finally finishing the great day off with a meal at a kind of chain restaurant in Saigon known as Pho Hung. It was nice to get some AC and cool off, and I have to admit that my bowl of pho bo, or Vietnamese beef pho was actually quite good.
I hope you enjoyed this video blog about traveling, eating, and visiting some attractions in Saigon (Ho Chi Minh City), Vietnam. Please give it a thumbs up, and I would really be grateful if you would share this video with a friend!

Shopping at Sense and Ben Thanh Market | HCMC Vietnam
I could not believe we found an air-conditioned knockoff market!
I was excited to be able to get some shopping done without sweating to death. Sense Market in District 1, HCMC Vietnam, is one of the cleanest markets we had visited in all of Vietnam. It’s not the biggest market, but you can find tier 1-2 knock offs & they have “big sizes” available. Sense Market even as a food court called Asian Food Town that has an awesome selection of Asian cuisine.
Ahhhh. Ben Thanh market. This market is one of the earliest surviving structures of Saigon and is the largest night market in District 1. At Ben Thanh market, you can find everything from household items to souvenirs and knockoffs. Open from 7am-7pm, you can easily spend several hours walking through the maze of stalls.
If you didn’t know, Ace LOVES to haggle in Asia. He likes going back and forth with the sales clerks and is always in search of a new bargain. It’s a competition to him. The object of the game is to get the price below half of what they originally asked for, or lower. Sometimes, I have to walk away. He takes on this persona and accent when he is haggling that grates my nerves. He can get some really good deals though.

Ben Thanh Market, Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon, Vietnam
I've made a slideshow which will give you time to absorb just some of the goodies on offer. Make sure to bargain hard!
Bến Thành Market is a very interesting marketplace in Hồ Chí Minh City, Vietnam in District 1. Being a bustling market in the daytime and a social center after sunset, Ben Thanh Market is absolutely a must-see attraction of the most dynamic city of Vietnam.
Built in 1870 by the French, the market was initially called Les Halles Centrales before being renamed Ben Thanh in 1912. From a wet market created by street vendors by the early 17th century, Ben Thanh has experienced many ups and downs throughout it’s history, and is now the oldest surviving market and one of symbols of Ho Chi Minh city. That makes it a must for any visitors travelling to this 300-year-old city.
