Berkeley Springs - Bath, West Virginia - 74.3 Thermal Degree Springs
Berkeley Springs State Park is located in the center of Berkeley Springs, West Virginia. The Bathhouse first opened in 1930. Since then, thousands have enjoyed the variety of baths and treatments in the warm mineral waters that flow from the springs at a constant temperature of 74.3 degrees Fahrenheit. The springs discharge from five principle sources and numerous lesser ones, all within a hundred yards, approximately 1,000 gallons of clear, sparkling water per minute. Bathing in the springs has been popular since before the days of George Washington.
For the record the average ground water temperature is 54 degrees for this region of the United States.

I highly recommend of The Town of Spa's including the Country Inn is a fantastic Hotel next to the historic spring, I highly recommend the spa package. Remember deep relaxing therapeutic massage consisting of long connecting strokes, kneading, and friction. This decreases stress, tension, and fatigue, improves blood and lymphatic circulation, and calms the nervous system. The water has perfect chemistry for the body...Again Berkeley Springs is a fantastic getaway destination for relaxing....I highly recommend attending the 30th Anniversary of the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting that is scheduled this coming February 21-23, 2020 also located at the Beautiful Country Inn at Phone 304-258-1200

Haunted Berkeley Castle, Berkeley Springs, WV.
Colonel Samuel Taylor Suit was a whiskey distiller, stock broker and railroad magnate. He met Rosa Pelham at a debutante ball when he was 46 years old and freshly divorced man about town, she was just a little 17 year old US Congressman's daughter.
Due to the age difference, no romance looked to be in the cards, but she was a girl who appreciated the finer things and wanted a man who could provide them.
She was socializing in one of the hotels in Berkeley Springs which at the time was known as Bath, West Virginia, when she mentioned that she wanted to live in a castle.
The Colonel told her that he would build a castle for her if the now 22 year old Rosa would marry him.
She agreed and they were married soon thereafter.
By 1885, architect Snowden Ashford had begun building the castle using plans by Alfred B. Mullett and it was finished by about 1888.
Colonel Suit never really got to enjoy the castle as he died shortly before Rosa and her three young children moved in.
The word around town was that Rosa may have had something to do with the death of her much older husband. She never remarried, and some folks said it was because if she did, she would have lost the castle and the rest of her inheritance.
This is where the story goes off the rails.
Berkeley Springs had a reputation for being a party town, Sodom and Gomorrah of the late 1800s. I'll just leave it to your imagination what kind of things folks with a lot of money and time to kill might be up to soaking in the mineral springs way back in the mountains.
Rosa, liked to party all night, drinking and gambling. She hired gypsy fortune tellers, and dabbled in black magic. One of her many gentleman callers was a fellow known as Jawbone, they got into a fracas that ended up on the roof of the castle. He fell to his death and is said to be one of the ghosts haunting the castle to this day. Did Rosa push him?
Eventually, Rosa had run through all her money, and she became a recluse, throwing rocks at anyone who approached her door. Her neighbors called her a witch and some thought she had gone insane. Eventually the castle had to be sold in 1913 to pay her debts.

Warm Mineral Springs of Berkeley Springs West Virginia
A short snip-it from Berkeley Springs, WV featuring the warm mineral springs of Berkeley Springs Baths State Park.
Welcome to Berkeley Springs State Park
Berkeley Springs is a town in, and the county seat of, Morgan County, West Virginia, United States,[4] in the state's Eastern Panhandle.
The area contains mineral water springs that were frequented by Native Americans indigenous to the area, possibly for thousands of years. After settlement by Europeans, the mineral springs drew many visitors from urban areas. Notable colonial visitors to the area included George Washington and James Rumsey. Berkeley Springs remained a popular resort area during the early years of the United States.
The area continues to be a popular resort area with tourism the main industry in the county and four full-service spas using the mineral water. A historic building whose construction began in 1888, was built as a retreat for Rosa and Samuel Taylor Suit overlooking the town. It often is called Berkeley Castle.
Berkeley Springs is a noted arts community with working artists accounting for approximately 1% of the county population of 16,000.
Toasted Crew BMX - Berkeley Springs WV - Mixtape Vol 1
Toasted Crew's first B.S. park mixtape! Through the dog days of summer 2015 we would all meet at least once a week and get in our after 5pm session. With the park being at the highest point in town, limited shade, and it being one of the most humid summers yet it really set the scene for these chill sessions. All of these clips were filmed right before we resurfaced every ramp and even added some new permanent features to the street section. With the fall season oficially upon us I can't wait to see the result of the next edit that will hopefully be out around December. Especially snapping those fall photos!! Dubbed America's only outdoor monument to Presidential bathing, this site was first visited by the General when he was just 16 years old. He would eventually buy property in the town, ultimately creating America's first hot springs resort.

2/36/3011 - (Excerpts) Power plants in four states—Texas, Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia—cause more than 35% of all mercury pollution from U.S. power plants, an environmental group reports Wednesday. The mercury falls into waterways from rain or snow, where it builds up in fish and those who each fish. Citing EPA estimates, the report says one in six women of childbearing age has enough mercury in her bloodstream that, should she give birth, her child could be at risk for its health effects, including learning disabilities, developmental disorders, and lower IQ.

There is talk of having a reused drinking water competition in South Florida were reclaimed sewage water is being intermixed with the public drinking water supplies as part of the Everglades restoration efforts lead by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers - and the South Florida Water Management District -
Such a toilet-to-tap drinking water may be held in ritzy Palm Beach, Florida where such water is already being comsumed now for years.
The Wetlands Based Wastewater Reclamation Program (WBWRP) is an innovative project that will enable the City of West Palm Beach to reuse wastewater to enhance wetlands and recharge the surfacial aquifer that feeds the City water supply. The South Florida Water Management District, Florida Communities Trust, Palm Beach County and the Federal Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) support this City project. Toowoomba in southern Queensland, Australia: The majority of its citizens voted No when asked if they'd drink recycled sewage. But with no end to the drought in sight, can we afford to flush away our future? Mark Horstman overcomes the 'yuk' factor and puts water recycling to the test. (More)
5/2008 - In January, public officials and residents of Orange County, California, toasted the culmination of a water supply project more than a decade in the making. But at these festivities champagne took a backseat to the beverage of choice as celebrants lifted glasses of recycled sewage water. (Continued)
8/26/2007 - (Excerpt)
The Los Angeles City Council then greenlighted it unanimously after the Los Angeles Regional Water Quality Control Board, the state Department of Health Services and the state Environmental Protection Agency also approved the proposal.
It worked this way: Sewage was treated at the Donald C. Tillman Water Reclamation Plant in Van Nuys and then pumped to spreading fields near Hansen Dam, where, over five years, it would filter through sandy soil and gravel into an underground reservoir.
But what should have been an engineering triumph soon became a PR disaster.
For five years after its approval, the reclamation project was largely forgotten. Then came the official DWP announcement of its completion in 2000, just before an open mayoral contest in 2001 that included Valley secession on the ballot. The water agency could not have chosen a more inopportune moment.
The new pipeline, providing enough treated water for 120,000 L.A. homes, was greeted by protest. State Sen. Richard Alarcon, who had approved it when he was a council member, now objected. He was swiftly joined by Gerald Silver, president of Homeowners of Encino, credited with popularizing the toilet to tap tag. Opposition snowballed.
Mayoral candidate and Valley council member Joel Wachs, who also had approved the plan in 1995, cried foul in 2000.
