BACOLOD Day 3
On our 3rd day, we went to Silay City to visit two of famous heritage houses there.
First stop was Bernardino Jalandoni Museum. Entrance fee is 60 pesos. Known as the Pink House.
Silay City used to be the capital of the Negros Occidental. It is referred as Paris of the Negros due to its artists, cultural shows and large collection of preserved heritage houses.
Twenty nine of these houses have been declared by the National Historical Commission of the Philippines as part of the Silay National Historical Landmark.
Currently, Silay's source of income is sugarcane plantations. It says, in Silay life is sweet, and past is forever.
Did you know it was a Frenchman who built the 1st sugar mill in Silay? His name is Yves Leopold Germain Gaston. And the rest is history.
A glimpse at these heritage houses, brings you to their past life, and how the elites at that time live. The tour was very informative.
Trying to imagine what Dalagang Filipina truly is. Hoping to bring back those times.

HOFILEÑA HERITAGE HISTORY
The Hofileña Ancestral house was built in 1934. During world war 2, when the family fled to the mountains, the house was used by Japanese commanders
Who had meetings here....
In 1962 rhe house was opened to the Public. It was the first ancestral house to be opened in the city.
