Natural Falls State Park 6 27 15
Visiting Natural Falls State Park in Oklahoma during a family reunion. Used DJI Phantom to explore some of its sights. It is much larger than I anticipated with more trails than I could handle in a single day. The Falls (also known in the old days as Dripping Springs) appear to be part of a collapsed cave. Cracks in the above ground around the immediate area suggest it could give away someday from erosion. Paths are well guarded in dangerous areas should a collapse ever happen. Of course this is my assumption based on the fly-over in the video. Bathrooms and showers for campers are actually clean and sanitary - very modern. They have camping services for tents and RVs. It's difficult to explain how varied the park is. Lawns, trees, and walkways are in excellent condition and clean but could use more trash facilities along the way. The park is over 100 years old and has also been called rattlesnake springs in days long gone. You can Google the Park using different names from its past and see old photos of when it was barely explored. Many Indian relics have been found there too.
SOLD-Village of Honey Creek - across from Honey Creek State Park
SOLD-Village of Honey Creek sits across the water from Honey Creek State Park. The subdivision has a private boat launch, and boat ramp. The water front home and water front lot for sale both face the southeast. They are more protected from the southweast and northwest winds. They also do not have the sunset issues that west facing water front homes and lots experience.

Tony Lund Memorial
June 6, 1940 - July 6, 2015
On Monday, July 6, in the comfort of his home and surrounded by his family, our loving husband, dad, grandpa, son and brother, Tony Lund, passed away. Pancreatic cancer destroyed his body but not his spirit. He’s gone fishing until we meet again. Anthony Verne (Tony) Lund was born June 6, 1940, in Minot, N.D., to Verne and Dorothy (Stenson) Lund. His greatest loves were his family, friends and fishing.
Tony attended Franklin and Highline high schools in Seattle and graduated in 1958. In March 1959, while working for Boeing, he welcomed the arrival of his “beautiful daughter” Tami Garrow Mertz. In November 1960, his beloved son Tom was born. In 1964, he left a good job in the city (at Paccar) to work for Lamb Grays Harbor as a production illustrator so he could be closer to the rivers. He fished every weekend, weekends turned into leaves of absence, until he was fishing more than working, so he quit. He and friend Joe Sudman bought the boat Karen Sue and commercial fished in Washington and Alaska.
In 1972 the family moved from Chenois Gardens to Axford Prairie and bought the Red Rooster. The business grew to include a tavern, grocery store and the best burgers on the Peninsula. Tony was known to give credit to anyone who asked for it. In spite of this, the business was a success. In 1978 the family sold the Rooster and moved to Ocean Shores where Tony built houses and fished some more. He went back to Alaska, and then to work at Oval Strapping in 1981. He retired in 2000.
In 1986, he met the love of his life, Bunni (Bernice) Babcock. They were married in Hoquiam and lived there until 2004 when they moved to Central Park across the street from brother and sister-in-law Dan and Carol West, whose love, company and support were and are priceless. Tony and Bunni spent most of the 1990s building their troller, The Swan. When she was finished, the couple sailed The Swan to Alaska with a fleet of fishing buddies.
They had a full, happy life together traveling, fishing, hunting, clam digging and playing with grandkids. They spent many vacations at daughter Jackie’s ranch in Houston, Texas, where Tony complained about the heat, but he loved the place. His kids and grandkids adored him, and he was so proud of them.
After the tragedy of 9/11, Tony volunteered as a driver for the VA, shuttling disabled veterans from all over the Harbor to their medical appointments. He managed to squeeze in a few rounds of golf while hanging around American Lake, and lived long enough to watch the U.S. Open, proudly sporting his Chambers Bay swag.
Tony loved floating the rivers, catching (and later, releasing) a fine fish, whiskey on his front porch, women of all ages, and his family more than anything. “Family is forever” was his mantra, his promise and his legacy.
He is survived by his loving wife Bunni; children Tami Garrow Mertz (John), Tom Lund, Jimmy Babcock (Mary Jo), and Jackie Babcock Hieber (Jeff); grandchildren Willie Garrow (Chelsea), Katie Garrow, Angie Cornett, Nikki Cornett, Colton Hieber, Dakota Hieber, Matt Babcock, Brandon Babcock, Ronald Anderson and Robin Anderson; great-grandchildren Theo Garrow and Alexis Babcock; brother Mike Lund (Tammy); sister Debbie Sandoval; mother Dorothy Lund, mother-in-law Betty Moore, and many other close friends and relatives. He was preceded in death by his father Verne and brother Gary Lund.
A celebration of Tony’s life is set for Tuesday, July 28, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Rotary Log Pavilion in Aberdeen. Please visit facebook.com/TonyLundMemorial to share a picture, a song or a memory. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tony’s memory may be made to the VFW, 105 E. Heron St. Aberdeen, WA 98520; the Union Gospel Mission P.O. Box 859, Aberdeen; or your favorite ACS Relay for Life team (or ACS P.O. Box 22718, Oklahoma City, OK 73123). His ashes will be scattered in Yellowstone National Park, his favorite place on earth other than home, and on a float trip down the Hump. The family is deeply grateful to Harbors Home Health & Hospice, Dr. Henry Li of the Polyclinic, daughter-in-law Mary Jo Babcock, and all who wrote, called and visited. Fish on, Tony. We love you.

Credit Card Reform After the Financial Crisis: Rio Rancho Town Hall, New Mexico
The Credit Card Accountability Responsibility and Disclosure Act of 2009 or Credit CARD Act of 2009 is a federal statute passed by the United States Congress and signed by President Barack Obama on May 22, 2009. It is comprehensive credit card reform legislation that aims ...to establish fair and transparent practices relating to the extension of credit under an open end consumer credit plan, and for other purposes. The bill was passed with bipartisan support by both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
The Credit Cardholders' Bill of Rights was introduced in the 110th Congress as H.R. 5244 in the House of Representatives by Representative Carolyn Maloney, a Democrat from New York and the chair of the House Financial Services Committee's Subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Consumer Credit. The bill had passed 312 to 112 but was never given a vote in the Senate.
In the 111th United States Congress the bill was reintroduced as H.R. 627 and on April 30, 2009, the House passed it, with a strong bipartisan basis, with 357 yes votes to 70 no votes. The Senate followed suit and passed an amended version on May 19 with 90 yes votes and 5 no votes. The House passed the amended bill the next day by a vote of 279 to 147 and it was signed into law by President Barack Obama on May 22, 2009.
The bill went into effect on February 22, 2010, nine months after it was enacted.
The Credit Cardholders' Bill of Rights includes several provisions aimed at limiting how credit card companies can charge consumers but does not include price controls, rate caps, or fee settings.
Gun rights advocates in the Senate, led by Tom Coburn (R-Okla) added an unrelated rider to the bill to prevent the Secretary of the Interior from enforcing any regulation that would prohibit an individual from possessing a firearm in any unit of the National Park System or the National Wildlife Refuge System. The Senate passed the amendment 67-29.
This amendment overturns a Reagan-era policy prohibiting firearms from being carried in national parks. The George W. Bush administration had attempted to implement a similar policy through the rulemaking process just before leaving office, but the change was struck down by a federal judge. The provision has been heavily criticized by environmentalists, anti-gun groups, and park supporters, including the Coalition of National Park Service Retirees, but it was applauded by gun rights groups.
The act was not expected to affect existing credit card contracts. However, the act that was passed applies to contracts made in the past by setting an effective date of February 22, 2010, which gave banks time to prepare and notify their customers. While it is a common criticism that the CARD Act led banks to raise interest rates and limit credit availability in response to its passage, studies by CardHub.com and the Center for Responsible Lending revealed that such trends were merely the result of economic pressures typical of a recession and not the law. Actually, according to these studies, historical economic data shows that the interest rate increase and decline in available credit seen during the Great Recession should have been worse considering the widespread unemployment, credit card delinquency and credit card charge-offs.
In a speech on the one-year anniversary of the CARD Act, Special Adviser Elizabeth Warren said that much of the [credit card] industry has gone further than the law requires in curbing re-pricing and overlimit fees. However, she said there was still much work to be done, that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau's next challenges will be about further clarifying price and risks and making it easier for consumers to make direct product comparisons.
In 2012, many stay-at-home mothers complained that because they have no individual income, the act prevents them from acquiring credit cards without their husbands' permission. As of September 21, 2012, the CFPB announced that they would be making the change due to a petition on Change.org.
The bill was cosponsored by House Financial Services Committee chair Barney Frank and Representatives Maxine Waters, Luis Gutiérrez, Stephen Lynch, Keith Ellison, Steve Cohen, Chaka Fattah, Maurice Hinchey, Jim Langevin, Jerrold Nadler, Carol Shea-Porter, Hilda Solis, Peter Welch, Albert Wynn, Peter DeFazio, Charles Gonzalez, Gene Taylor, David Obey, Mazie Hirono, Debbie Wasserman Schultz, Nancy Boyda, John Dingell, Corrine Brown, Bennie Thompson, Alcee Hastings, Yvette Clark, Jesse Jackson, Danny Davis, Kirsten Gillibrand, Eddie Bernice Johnson, Diane Watson, Michael Arcuri, Eliot Engel, John Tierney, Chris Van Hollen, George Miller, Jim Moran, Anthony Weiner, Neil Abercrombie, and Jan Schakowsky.
