Boat trips and sightseeing tours on the NEVA river , St Petersburg Russia
Narration in French during the vidéo
It’s only due to the water that you can feel the real spirit of St.Petersburg. The rivers and canals of the city make up about 10 per cent of the city’s total area. That is why the city is often called the Venice of the North. Hide
From the Naval Station you will pass by bus with guide from historic center of St Peterburg to the embankment of Fontanka river. During this short tour you will learn history of the creation of the city, landmarks, museums and monuments, which located along the route. Tour of the rivers and canals will starts at the center of the city. On the boat you will sail through the most beautiful waterways: Fontanka river, Krukov’s canal, Moika and Neva rivers. Cut by a network of small rivers and canals, the city will impress you with its magnificence during the boat cruise. By number of rivers and canals St. Petersburg ranks first in Russia, and has one of the first places in the world. Along these waterways there are a lot of palaces and the major attractions of the northern capital, many of which are the official symbols of the city like St .Isaac's Cathedral, Peter and Paul Fortress, the Saviour-on-the-Blood Cathedral, the Winter Palace and others. There are about 500 bridges (315 in the city centre,21 of them are drawbridges). This many more than in other cities famous for their bridges such as Venice and Stockholm. You will be passing underneath some of them during the boat ride. At the end of tour of the rivers and canals you will get a short tour of the center of the St. Petersburg after which you free to explore the city or return to the Naval Station. Duration of the tour – 4 hours

First Thoughts on Russia | We Spent 48 Hours in St Petersburg, Russia
After our insane Russian visa nightmare we are so glad to arrive here in St Petersburg...these are our first thoughts on the country.
Tour we are on in Russia with On the Go Tours:
We have 48 hours in St Petersburg so we are going to show you as much as possible to do in this incredible city which started off by working out the Metro systems...going to the deepest one in Russia - Admiralteyskaya station. It's so cost effective to use the Metro system, less than a $1 and there's no zones - jump on and just jump off when you are done.
Our first stop was obviously coffee, so we went to Pyshechnaya which is a cafe set up like an old soviet style restaurant where all they sell is cheap coffee and one style of donut.
Next up we headed to the Church of the Savior on Spilled Blood which is a breathtaking church best described as a gingerbread house - and if you think outside looks stunning - wait till you go inside and see the 1000's of mosaics lining the walls.
To find the best views in St Petersburg we recommend you head to St Isaac's Cathedral.
If you are looking for some of the best museums in the world - head to the Hermitage Museum (the Winter Palace) and also head to Catherines Summer Palace - both very grand and opulent.
If you want to try some Russian food - we recommend Советское кафе Квартирка - which is an old soviet style restaurant set up like an old soviet home. Amazing food - we recommend you try
We Tried Russian Food in St Petersburg
- Vareniki (Potatoes & Mushroom dumpling)
- Cherry Vareniki
- Pirzhok Pie (cabbage and egg)
- Rasstegai Pie (fish)
- Napoleon Cake with Custard
- Ukrainian Cottage Cheese Pancake
and finally 2 end your 2 days in St Pettersburg - head on a river boat to see the best views around the city :)

Our previous trip to Nizhny Novgorod ( was such a hit that we received endless requests to go all over Russia, but St. Petersburg was the number one suggestion. With only $100 and two days, Tim will try to do as much as possible.

Part 1 of Boat Tour through Central Saint Petersburg, Russia
While it may be better to book a boat trip in advance, especially in high season during the White Nights, it is normally quite possible to turn up at one of the moorings in the city center (where Nevsky Prospekt crosses the Fontanka River, the Griboedov Canal, or the Moika River; in the Mikhailovsky Garden; on the Admiralty or Palace Embankments; or around the Peter and Paul Fortress) and join a tour immediately, day or night (after midnight nearly all boats offer trips out into the Neva River to watch the bridges opening). Most trips will be conducted by a tour guide or accompanied with a recorded audio-guide. If you require an English-language guide, many companies offer the service, along with several other foreign languages, but you will need to book in advance.

St Petersburg, Russia - Day 1 - Baltic Cruise 2018
Join me in St Petersburg, Russia as we take a walking tour and visit the Church of the savior on spilled blood. This was part of a Baltic cruise that we took in September 2018.
We decided to take a ship excursion in Russia due to the visa's required to visit Russia alone. It is possible to get your own visa and visit Russia alone/on a private tour but in this instance, we thought it would be easier to take a ship excursion and let the cruise line sort out the visas.
We head back to the Marella Discovery for dinner in 47 degrees before spending the evening in Bar Eleven, the theatre and at karaoke!
