Chicago, Illinois and St. Louis, Missouri
Two American Midwestern cities just 260 miles (418 km) apart, although if you’ve seen Planes, Trains, and Automobiles, you’d think they were a lot further away than that.
Wait, why I am comparing these two cities? Why not Chicago and Houston? Or St. Louis and Kansas City? Doesn’t that make more sense.
Well kind of. But I’m comparing Chicago and St. Louis because those two cities were once in direct competition to become the biggest and most important city in the Midwest. I’m making this video in collaboration with Dave from the channel City Beautiful. On his channel, he has a video explaining why and how Chicago beat out St. Louis to indeed become THE biggest, most important Midwestern city. Be sure to check it out after you’re done watching this one.
Once upon a time, it was actually St. Louis that appeared to be destined to become the biggest, most important American Midwestern city. First of all, St. Louis is older than Chicago. It was founded by the French in 1764, after they lost the Seven Years’ War. Basically, French settlers fled there from the east after the British took over their former territory. For its first 38 years, St. Louis was under Spanish control. So while the French lived there, the Spanish guarded the town during that time. In those early years, St. Louis established itself as a major fur trading center. In 1803, when it had maybe 1,000 people living there, the United States bought Louisiana from France after it briefly took it back over. St. Louis, being in Louisiana, was now an American city, and became the administrative capital of all of Louisiana Territory. After Lewis and Clark left St. Louis exploring this vast territory, others would follow, and the city became a hub for folks on their way out to the “Wild West.”
St. Louis steadily grew, it’s population nearing 5,000 by 1830. In 1833, when St. Louis was 69 years old, Chicago was finally born. I mean, St. Louis was a creepy old man by the time Chicago came around. While St. Louis was mostly a fur trading hub, Chicago quickly became a transportation hub, a way to connect the east, where most Americans lived, to the west. It was the site of the Illinois and Michigan Canal, completed in 1848 to connect the Great Lakes to the Mississippi River. After a couple decades, it became the most important railroad city in the country.

Phoenix, Arizona, USA
For me, one of the ultimate American food meals to eat is awesome BBQ - when the meat is smoked perfectly so it slides off the bone, and the flavor is packed full of insane smokiness. My brother in law Derek had already been to Little Miss BBQ, but it was my first time to eat here, and I was so excited.
I arrived a little over an hour early to get in line, but luckily as soon as you pull up you get a number so that you don’t actually have to wait in line the entire time.
Scott and the entire crew at Little Miss BBQ are amazing, and you can immediately feel their passion and their genuine love for what they do and for the people they get to interact with everyday as a result of serving the best BBQ in Phoenix! Scott and his wife have an interesting and amazing grassroots history and start to their BBQ business. They first started making BBQ at home just because they loved doing it. Eventually they started competing in American BBQ competitions. At the beginning things didn’t go so well, but they kept going and perfecting their BBQ recipes and eventually started to win some of the competitions. Eventually they opened Little Miss BBQ, and it’s one of the best BBQ spots you’ll ever eat at.
So after getting the full tour of the restaurant and all the smoked meat, it was about time to open. You line up outside and the actual inside is quite small - most people either takeaway or eat outside.
I wanted to try a little of everything, so we got a giant tray of smoked BBQ meat including pork ribs, pulled pork, turkey, sausage, brisket, and beef ribs, with sides. Total price for the entire tray came to $92.70 - that was a lot of meat!
Thanks to my brother in law Derek for coming out to eat as well. We started with the beef ribs, and those are the best of the best. The meat falls apart and it was so insanely juicy and flavorful. The BBQ brisket will also blow you mind with its massive meaty flavor and juiciness. Finally my other top meat was the sausage, including jalapeno and a mix of meat and bacon.
Lastly, you have to eat your American food bbq feast with their famous pecan pie. And even though I’m not into sweets, a few bites at the end was amazing.
Little Miss BBQ is a phenomenal BBQ restaurant in Phoenix, Arizona. Not only will the quality and taste of the meat blow you away, but the passion of Scott and the entire crew are so genuine and so friendly, and that’s what makes it so good.
Thank you for watching this BBQ video!

“River Angels,
by Rod Wellington, Tuesday, August 23, 2016.
Rod Wellington on the Jefferson River in 2013.
In 2013, Rod Wellington, owner of his own publishing company
(Crow Books), paddled his way past Kansas City as the first North
American to travel “Source to Sea” from Brower Spring near the
Montana Continental Divide to the Gulf of Mexico. Inspired by
that trip and others, he has self-published a book called “River
Angels”. It’s a behind-the-scenes look at the simultaneous
organization of three separate self-propelled expeditions and the
dynamic individuals who took part in those expeditions.
The book, “River Angels,” also introduces the world to a
burgeoning network of altruistic “river angels”-riverside
citizens who not only assist long-distance paddlers, but also
help preserve and promote the rivers they love.
Rod Wellington spent eight unfulfilling years frowning his way
through a landscaping job he despised. In 2011, he parked his
lawnmower for the last time and enthusiastically began pursuing
his true passion: adventure. Now he smiles every day.
On April 2, 2013, Rod became the first Canadian (and first North
American) to kayak the Missouri-Mississippi river system from
source to sea, a distance of 3800 miles/6100km. The solo journey
took 256 days to complete. Rod’s triumphant arrival at the Gulf
of Mexico marked the completion of Stage One of his Magnificent
Seven Expedition, a personal quest to descend the longest river
system on each continent from source to sea using only
human-powered transportation (on foot, kayak and raft). He
estimates it will take 15 years to complete the project. Rod
plans to write a book about each of the seven journeys.

The Good Sam Club
American Rock and Roll with a Little Country and a Little Blues
We are a two guitar, bass, vocal, & drum band that have played together in a musical co-op for about 25 years... (In addition, we can add harmonica, accordion, keyboard, trombone and a second percussionist as the need occurs.) We play distinctive shows, about 1 to 4 gigs a month, some for pay and some for free (charitable causes, Good Samaritan basis).
We feel our music and our shows create a fun, jamming, open, vibrant atmosphere that makes the band part of the event (rather than dominating the event) and thus, allows the event to breath.
We supply all sound reinforcement equipment. We can even supply a power generator if needed.
All members of the band are knowledgeable and dedicated musicians, who share a love for a diversity of musical styles and the honesty of live performance. This makes for a nice group of musicians who really want to play live shows. This means a fun event that centers on the occasion rather than the band.
WE use straightforward song arrangements that pivot on improvising moments, dynamics, soloing, and jamming...... some call this style of music AMERICANA.
Our outdoor audiences encompass a wide range of people, from strollers and browsers, to people audio taping, to lawn chair and blanket fans. We tend to draw people who are receptive to many styles of music.
Ages in the band group range from 18 to 50 years old...day jobs include a teacher, an auto mechanics, a cop, a Vietnam Vet, and a music student.
We are from Shawnee Mission, Kansas.... we play out at typically:
Outdoor Festivals
City Concerts in the Park Series
Musical Diversity Programs in Public Schools Farmers Markets
Occasionally restaurants, bars and clubs...
Street Dances
Jam Band Festivals

What It's Like To Be An Amazon Flex Delivery Driver
Amazon has offered free two-day shipping for Prime members since 2005. As Amazon rolls out a one-day shipping guarantee for its 100 million Prime members, Amazon Flex drivers help solve the company's last mile problem. CNBC spoke to these on-demand contract workers all over the country to find out what it's really like to deliver for Amazon. Watch the video to hear about the pay, pace of work, and how Amazon Flex works.
Is Amazon Prime worth it? For many members, free shipping is a key Amazon Prime benefit that factors into their decision to pay $119 per year for the service. As Amazon starts offering Prime members the added benefit of one-day shipping they're working with on-demand contract drivers to help with this especially labor-intensive and expensive hand-delivery.
We spent a day with Omar Montes, a Flex driver in the San Francisco Bay Area. Omar helped a friend deliver around 46 packages in 3½ hours, for $105. “These are like the good days that make you want to continue doing Amazon. But, you know, there’s obviously bad days too,” Montes said.

Social Security Disability: What NOT To Do
The process of applying for Social Security Disability benefits is long and difficult. If you make the wrong move, you could RUIN your chances of getting benefits. In this video, David Henson--managing partner of HensonFuerst Attorneys--discusses what NOT to do during the application process.
For more information about many other legal issues related to workers' compensation or personal injury, please visit our website at And don't forget to watch our other videos at
(Principal office of Henson & Fuerst, PA: 2501 Blue Ridge Road, Raleigh, NC 27607)
Applying for Social Security Disability is tough. At the time when you are feeling bad enough to be considered disabled, the agency seems to want to make the process as difficult as possible. If you want to make their job easier, I can help you with that.
Hi, I'm David Henson, managing partner with HensonFuerst Attorneys. We help people through the long and exhausting process of attaining Social Security Disability benefits everyday. Of the many things we've learned along the way, one lesson is clear: The SSA looks for reasons to reject your claim. Here are the top 5 things you can do to help SS shut you out.
1. Don't get medical care for your conditions.
2. Do drugs or alcohol.
3.Break the law, or end up in jail.
4.Don't keep your lawyer up-to-date on your situation.
5. Miss deadlines or appointments.
If you work hard all your life, and end up so injured or sick that you can no longer work, you may be eligible to receive Social Security Disability benefits. But just because you are eligible, that doesn't mean you are entitled. There is a world of reasons why your case may be not be approved...don't hand the courts a reason to deny your claim.
This is David Henson, with HensonFuerst Attorneys. For more information about how we can help you fight for your SSD benefits, visit our website at LAWMED.com/SocialSecurityDisability/. Or, call us at 1-800-4-LAWMED.
If you have questions, HensonFuerst has answers.

America’s First Bare Knuckle Fighting Championship
Since its heyday in the late 1800s, bare-knuckle boxing in the US has been relegated to parking lots and grimy basements, an underground sport that couldn’t find a way to bring itself above board. But in June of 2018—after spending years petitioning almost 30 states to sanction the brutal fights—promoter David Feldman finally managed to stage America's first-ever legal bare-knuckle boxing match in Wyoming.
VICE went to the Bare Knuckle Fighting Championships in Cheyenne a few days ahead of the big event to hear how Feldman managed to pull it off, and to meet a handful of fighters for whom boxing—and even MMA fighting—just isn’t hardcore enough.
