Just a film of my recent ski trip to Big Sky Montana captured through my GoPro. Big Sky Resort is known for giving skiers and riders access to more skiing than anywhere else in the United States. Located in south central Montana, about fifty miles south of Bozeman, Big Sky provides visitors with updated amenities, a well developed infrastructure and over 5,750 acres of skiable terrain.

Big Sky Resort Highlights - Big Sky, MT
Highlight edit of some awesome trails I rode while at Big Sky Resort in Montana. Montana overall was a great place to visit and the riding was superb. The bike park has a ton of trails and a little bit of something for everyone. Plenty of jumps and flow, rocky and rooty tech, steeps, drops and some really great long runs. If you're local, the season pass is pretty cheap and the park is definitely worth the hour trip out from Bozeman if you're in the area. Big Sky is about 40 minutes from Yellowstone and there are a bunch of epic back country rides in the vicinity. We rode 5 days while we were there and barely scratched the surface. I had a great time and highly recommend making the trip out there.

This city walk takes place in early November and is the best treadmill walk of the town. Big Sky is known for its skiing and is off of highway 191 along the gallatin river in the gallatin canyon. This walking tour is of the village, not the resort. We will try to get back there later this winter for a tour of that. Walking holidays are great in Big Sky country. Big Sky, MT has many restaurants and motels as well as vacation rentals and holiday rentals in terms of accommodations. Big Sky is a city in Gallatin and Madison counties in southwestern Montana. As of the 2010 census it had a population of 2,308. It is 45 miles (72 km) southwest of Bozeman. This unincorporated community straddles both counties, is not considered a town, and does not have a town government. The primary industry of the area is tourism.
Big Sky is located at 45°16′12″N 111°17′59″W (45.269940, -111.299725), approximately midway between West Yellowstone and Bozeman on U.S. Highway 191 and just 15 miles (24 km) from the northwestern border of Yellowstone National Park.
The Meadow area of Big Sky lies in an alpine valley formed during the Cretaceous period. Initially called the Gallatin Canyon Basin, the Meadow is braided with small rivers that channel mountain snow run-off. Fishing is permitted on all of these Gallatin feeders. Two ponds are found on the Middle Fork of the Gallatin River that bisects the Meadow, and fishing there is permitted for those 16 and younger. Since 1993, an innovative sewer system has protected the water in the area from sewage discharge. Several agencies, such as the Gallatin River Task Force, monitor the health of the rivers.
The community had two large ski resorts that are sited in the Mountain area: Big Sky Resort and Moonlight Basin. In October 2013, these resorts merged: both are now managed by Big Sky Resort, and both are alpine ski and golf resorts. The combined terrain of the two resorts allows them to market themselves as the Biggest Skiing in America. The Spanish Peaks Mountain Club is an exclusive ski and golf resort that has three chairlifts and 13 ski runs connecting it to Big Sky Resort at the base of Big Sky's Southern Comfort lift. Spanish Peaks is also now owned by Big Sky Resort, in collaboration with the Yellowstone Club. Another resort, Lone Mountain Ranch, is a Nordic ski and summer resort that professionally grooms over 75 kilometers of cross-country ski trails. Yellowstone Club, a private resort, is located to the south and adjacent to Big Sky Resort.
The Canyon area of Big Sky lies in the Gallatin Canyon, along the Gallatin River, a favorite for white water rafters and kayakers. The Gallatin River, named after Albert Gallatin who was the Secretary of the Treasury during the Lewis and Clark Expedition, is a Blue Ribbon trout stream that attracts fly-fishers from around the world. Several dude ranches (320 Guest Ranch, Elkhorn Ranch, Cinnamon Lodge and 9 Quarter Circle) operate in the Gallatin Canyon.
Most of the CDP drains to the east into the Gallatin River, while the westernmost portions drain west via Cedar Creek and Jack Creek to the Madison River. The Gallatin and the Madison both drain north to the Missouri River.

I lived in Big Sky for 15 weeks during my Work and Travel USA program(12/2016 to 03/2017)!
I had the chance to take a 2 hours horseback ride, do a snowmobile tour at the Yellowstone National Park, go to Ousel Falls, see wildlife, snowboard and dog sled up in the resort.

Big Sky: Iron Horse 4
In 1994, this Garaventa-CTEC quad opened expanded terrain beyond the Challenger lift. It was built in partnership with the Moonlight Basin development and provides access from some of the real estate. During this time, Moonlight Basin only wanted to be a couple access lifts into Big Sky and not it's own separate ski area. However, after failing to become a separate ski area everything is part of Big Sky again. Nowadays, this lift is primarily used to move between the Big Sky and Moonlight sides of the resort.
The length is 3215 feet and the vertical is 921 feet. Design capacity is 1800/hr but it seems lower due to the big chair spacing. It is a slow lift and always has low ridership. It will either be turned and extended to the top of Six Shooter with a loading carpet added or replaced by a high speed quad as part of the Big Sky 2025 plan.
