Bisbee used to be one of the richest and largest communities in the west thanks to its rich mineral deposits that brought businesses interests to the area. This led to the construction of many buildings which use different architectural styles and are now considered historic and special.
In this second part we continue the tour with Tucson architect Bob Vint, who is a big fan of Bisbee.

A Hero in South Bisbee
We are here for ninety or one hundred years at the most. During that period we must try to do something good, something useful with our lives. If you contribute to other people's happiness, you will find the true goal, the true meaning of life.
--His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
According to the latest press release by Freeport-McMoRan, all South Bisbee residents facing November evictions have signed the relocation packets -- except for one. When I drove through the tunnel to find the woman some have called the hero of South Bisbee, I found a powerful discourse on the machinations of fear, the meaning of community, and a heart-centered consciousness of life.
And I had a small and probably illegal adventure.
Fear and Loving at the Bisbee City Council
A wise friend of mine once pointed out that people judge others from their own souls. The consciousness of fear and the consciousness of love played out in various voices at the city council meeting on civil unions in Bisbee, Arizona.
Douglas Mansion
The Douglas Mansion (Arizona State Parks) has been an eye-catching landmark in Jerome since 1916, when James S. Douglas built it on the hill just above his Little Daisy Mine. This former home is now a museum devoted to the history of the Jerome area and the Douglas family. The museum features photographs, artifacts and minerals in addition to a video presentation and a 3-D model of the town with its underground mines. There are more displays outside along with a picnic area offering a beautiful panoramic view of the Verde Valley.
