Bucharest In Your Pocket - Creţulescu Church (Biserica Creţulescu)
Probably the most celebrated historic church in Bucharest. Biserica Creţulescu was raised from 1720-2 by Iordache Creţulescu and his wife Safta, a daughter of Romanian humanitarian Constantin Brâncoveanu. The outstanding paintings on the entrance are original, the work of an unknown artist, while the interior icons were added in 1859 by Gheorghe Tattarescu. Damaged during the fighting of December 1989, the church has recently been restored to its full glory, and is a must.

Bucharest Tour: Old Churches
It’s a true miracle that a number of Bucharest’s awesome churches have survived wars, earthquakes and communism, preserving magnificent décor elements and fresco paintings. Today, they are Bucharest’s must-see regardless of the season or time of the day. And with many of them located right in the Old Town or along the stunning Victory Avenue (Calea Victoriei) Bucharest’s churches are an easy reach for a visitor.
Dating back to the 16th, 17th and 18th centuries, Bucharest’s churches represent a unique chance to dive deep into Romania’s religious history and architecture, which are rooted in local traditions, Byzantine epoch and Orthodoxy.
Churches, which can be found in the Old Town and along Calea Victoriei:
The Old Court Church (16th century) – the oldest preserved church in its original appearance in Bucharest.
Stavropoleos church (early 18th century) – Founded as part of Stavropoleos Convent for nuns, the church was erected in the early 18th century. Today it’s the only structure of the Convent, which has survived earthquakes, wars and Communist regime. The church boasts a 8000 books library, dedicated to theology, byzantine history, music and arts.
Kretzulescu Church (18th century) – Surrounded by Communist-era buidlings, the church survived multiple earthquakes and witnessed the 1989 revolution. The church is built in a local style and preserved some of its original frescoes.
The Cathedral of Saint Joseph (second half of the 19th century) – This is the most famous Catholic church in Bucharest. St Joseph is the metropolitan cathedral and the seat of the archbishop.
Bucharest tour is well worth it even if done as a shore excursion from Constanta. More about our Constanta and Bucharest tours and shore excursions at odessawalks.com

After leaving Lake Vallea, I continued my journey eastward along the Carpathian Mountains. When you reach the entrance of the city where the coolness along the tree-lined streets is reached, the sign with the city name on the far mountain is reminiscent of Hollywood. Brasov surrounded by mountains and fortresses with red houses around a square like a European historical drama set. The crossroads of eastern and western trade in the Middle Ages created the largest Gothic church between Istanbul and Vienna, and German immigrants built walls to guard this rich city. In the 12th century, this area was conquered by the Kingdom of Hungary. After that, the Hungarians called the Germans to build the city here. This is where the Kingdom of Hungary and the border of the Ottoman Empire meet, and I needed a city to defend. The Germans came here to build the city and build the fortress. Then they stopped the people who originally lived here from coming into the city. At that time, I could not live in the city unless I was a German, and I could not have equal rights with Germans. The square, which was open only to Germans, has unique windows that can only be found in German towns. But by the 19th century, Romanians had the right to live in cities, and today, Romanians are 90% Latin-speaking. It's very similar to the Spanish people. Like the Italians. I think life habits are similar. The time to get up and eat in the morning is similar. But the working hours seem to be different. The Spanish people go to work earlier. I work from 8:00 am to 2:00 pm and take a break and go back to work. Anyway, it's beautiful here. It is very beautiful and blue. It's a really nice place.

BISERICA KRETULESCU-Via Sacra-Televiziunea Romana
Bucharest's Stavropoleos Church (Biserica Stravrapoleos)
Read our blog post ---
Stavropoleos Church (Biserica Stravrapoleos) located in Bucharest's old town area is a true architectural gem .Built in the early 1800s it sustained major damage in the earthquake of 1802 and was almost declared a complete loss due to multiple structural deficits and a lcontinoued lack of funds needed for its repairs.
It was finally restored in August of 1904 and was slated to act as a museum.Restorations efforts were continued on and off well into the Second World War but the church never resturned o its glory and was dismantled by the communist regime. After the revolution of 1989 work was resumed and the remodeling was finally completed.Nowadays the church and monestary are finally fully restored and functioning as intended.
, reestablishment occurs as communal monastery of nuns, the abbess of nun Mihaela Luchian and father confessor, Ierom. Justin Marchis.

The next morning I ran for an hour from Sibiu and headed for the highest Ferrarius mountain in Romania. We are now on Trans Ferguson Road. This road was created during the communist regime, also known as the foolishness of Ceausescu, the product of insanity. Anyway, it is very enjoyable to drive in the forest and scent of flowers. This place is really natural. There is no place for human beings except for the roads. This road, considered the best road in the world at BBC Top Gear, is accompanied by a sharp curve. If you turn the curves around the curves, the clouds are under the clouds and the air is cool. It's beautiful. I got a call from my friends in my hometown and it's getting hot right now. Then he asked me what this is. I can not believe that my neighborhood is 40 degrees. Since I have been on vacation, I have to endure the weather is hot. Even if the weather is cold, I'll just put up with it. Good night. I'll wait for you to contact me. The cold clouds suddenly come to me when I hear you say that it is cold and cold.
