The Black Canyon Water Trail
In June of 2014, Black Canyon, which you see behind me, was designated a National Water Trail, by the Secretary of Interior. So, it's pretty exciting.
I think it's pretty exciting, for this area. It's a good idea, to get the community involved, especially in these waterways, out here.
This river is zoned, from the base of Hoover, down to Nelson's Landing, has been designated, a National Water Trail. It's one of only 16 in the United States so far designated; it's the first in the Southwest.
We have a kind of a secret paradise, in our backyard, that we share with people. But, to have it actually recognized, at a national level, as a Water Trail, it's pretty awesome.
I think the river is a beautiful place, out here. Living in Las Vegas, you can have your family, your friends come down here. And, it's, for all of us guides out here, I think it's pretty important to have this place clean, to have this well-maintained, and that's exactly what having this established as a Water Trail, has done for us. This is extremely important for the environment, it's extremely important for conservation, economy, and I think it's about time that this is getting the recognition that it needs.
Arizona Hot Springs in Black Canyon on the Colorado River
A group of us hiked up to the Arizona Hot Springs from the river while kayaking. The hike only took a few minutes and the terrain was fairly easy, other than the metal ladder (watch the video to see).

Secrets of the Black Canyon Sauna Cave
Just south of the Hoover Dam is the start of the Black Canyon which goes all the way down to Willow Beach, I think it's a 14 mile stretch. When you first start out on this voyage just to the right a little ways down from Hover Dam is the Sauna Cave. We explored it, and lived to tell about it.
Thanks for watching!

Hiking Goldstrike Canyon Hot Springs Las Vegas Nevada
Located in the Lake Mead National Recreation Area along the Colorado River, Gold Strike Canyon contains a number of natural hot springs, ranging in temperature from 70 to 144 degrees. It is possible, albeit rather dangerous, to reach the springs by canoe, but most visitors prefer to make the six-mile hike to the pools from U.S. Highway 93, which takes about two and a half hours.
Features to look for along the way include a water fall, numerous caves, crystalline stalactites and stalagmites, narrow passages, and 100-foot-high canyon walls. Scrambling across boulders is required to reach the hot spring pools, which are terraced into the landscape for about 100 yards. Many of the pools are deep enough for bathing and even swimming. They have a slightly blue-green tint due to the algae that grows in the very hottest water.
To get there from Las Vegas, take U.S. Highway 93 south toward Boulder City and Hoover Dam. About half a mile past the Hacienda Casino (aka the former Goldstrike Casino), take a right onto the road that goes south under the new highway. At the fork in the road past the east-bound highway on-ramp, turn left and go down to the bottom of the canyon. A half-mile further on, the road ends at the trailhead. FOLLOW MOUNTAIN DO
