Disclaimer: A nice park ranger informed us 'after the fact' that all Lorain County Parks have a no fly rule! Which actually includes kites! Go figure :-)
The East branch & West branch of the Black River each have a waterfall shortly before they merge together.

East Falls on Black River, Elyria, Ohio shot with a Phantom 3 drone
This urban waterfalls is in Elyria Ohio, roughly 30 miles west of Cleveland. There is a neatly groomed little park and observation deck just above the falls and a trail that takes you down into the gorge for some more nice views of the falls. They apparently light the falls up at night.
There was a power station here in the 1920's. A small dam just above the falls and other ruins remain. The ruins are quite interesting. The trail into the gorge ends at the ruins.

Mill Hollow, Vermilion River Reservation - Lorain County Metro Parks
A Valley Carved by the Vermilion River
The most striking feature of this reservation is the winding ribbon of shale cliffs carved by the Vermilion River. Millions of years old, these cliffs reveal layers of the past and drop bits of sandstone, shale and turtlerock along the riverbed.
The Vermilion River has no industry along its banks, making it especially rich in wildlife. Aquatic life includes freshwater clams and several species of darters (small fish that feed along the bottom of the river) that turn brilliant colors during the mating season. Some insect species include mayflies, cadis flies and water pennies (beetle larvae that lie flat against a rock surface and look like pennies.)
Fishermen will find rock bass, small mouth bass and steelhead trout in the river, and catfish, crappie and bass in the ponds.

This is the view of the Black River as seen from the back yard of a 2nd Street Home in Elyria, OH. The river is several feet higher than normal; usually you could wade ankle-deep in this section!
Ford Park Elyria Ohio Bike Ride 2016
Mary and Dan took a bike ride in Ford Park in Elyria, Ohio. It was a fun ride and the elevated platform over the Black River was pretty cool. We had a great time and look forward to going back.

The is from the start of the North Coast Inland Trail off of route 611 on the east side of Lorain Ohio. A very nice trail that runs most of the distance from my house to the Lorain County Community College. The trail connects the French Creek Metro Park and the Black River Metro Park

Black River Recreation Area
The 1,200-acre Black River Recreation Area is managed to provide low-impact recreation and environmental education opportunities while maintaining a healthy river system and riparian habitat.
The area, an oasis in the Chihuahuan Desert, is home to rare species of plants, fish, and reptiles in and around the river. During migration seasons, the area teems with birds, including waterfowl, shorebirds and songbirds. Bird populations in this small area fluctuate daily and seasonally. Lush desert vegetation and clear pools of water provide excellent opportunities for viewing wildlife.
The recreation area's most frequently visited site is the Cottonwood Day Use Area, which includes a wildlife viewing platform, picnic tables, and a toilet. The parking area is approximately 500 feet from the water's edge.
Bridgeway Trail Bur Oak
Bur Oak Park at the foot of Ford Road in Elyria/Sheffield Village, Ohio. Very nice green landscapes. There are inclines for every level. This is the first time I was able to get up all but the largest of inclines. I look forward to making it up the only one I have not finished yet. I used music from Metallica and have given props to them in my credits on the video. Still need to bring camera up just a bit so handlebars are not in my shots. At least with the handlebars in the shot you can see how I move.
