Minett Tour - Blast Furnaces Belval (GB)
Belval was once the site of Luxembourg’s biggest ironworks, and has now become one of the most ambitious urban development projects in Europe: the reconversion of a former industrial site. One very special feature is that parts of the former industrial site are being renovated and integrated into the new urban quarter. These industrial remnants are now a symbol of renewal, connecting past to present.
An absolute must see is the blast furnace A which has been renovated and is open for the public and can be visited. You can climb up the stairs along the blast furnace up to a platform from which you will enjoy a stunning view over Belval and a large part of the most southern region of Luxembourg.

BELVAL (L). Luciano Pagliarini's TOTAL TRIO: Jazz am Hochofen, live Belval (Lux.) 06.07.14
Vom 04. bis zum 06. Juli 2014 fand in Esch/Alzette-Belval anlässlich der Eröffnung des Hochofens A ein „Hochofenfest“ (Fête des Hauts Fourneaux) statt. Ein Höhepunkt des Festes war der Auftritt von Luciano Pagliarini‘s Jazzband TOTAL TRIO am Sonntag Nachmittag: Luciano Pagliarini (Saxophon), Jean-Francois Charbonnier (Tuba‚ Geräusche, Pantomime), Konrad „Konni“ Troost (Schlagzeug, Geräusche, Fog) und als special guest Michel „Misch“ Feinen (Schlagzeug, Geräusche, Industriesound).
Am Fuß des Hochofen integrierte die Jazz-Band vor einem begeisterten Publikum Industriegeräusche und pantomimische Elemente in ihre ca. 90 Minuten dauernde Bühnenshow. Ausführliche Information über den Musiker Luciano Pagliarini unter: luciano-pagliarini.eu!

Belval war einst der Standort der größten Eisenhütte Luxemburgs und ist mittlerweile zu einem der bedeutendsten städtebaulichen Entwicklungsprojekten Europas geworden: die Rekonversion eines ehemaligen Industriegeländes. Besonders interessant ist, dass einige der Relikte der Industriekultur in das neue städtebauliche Konzept integriert sind und somit zum Symbol der Erneuerung werden, einem Bindeglied zwischen Vergangenheit und Zukunft.
Ein absolutes Muss ist die Besichtigung des Hochofen A, der renoviert wurde und für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich ist. Sie können die Treppe entlang des Hochofens hinaufsteigen bis hin zu einer Plattform, von der aus Sie einen herrlichen Blick über Belval und einen großen Teil der südlichsten Region Luxemburgs genießen können.

BELVAL (L). Eligius-Feier. Der Umzug / Fête de la St Eloi. Le Cortège (2014)
Am 1. Dezember ist der Namenstag des St Eloi de Noyon (Hl. Eligius), der als Goldschmied im Mittelalter schließlich Bischof wurde. Er ist (vor allem in Frankreich, Wallonien und Luxemburg) der Schutzpatron u.a. der Gold- und Hufschmiede, und der Hüttenleute und Metallgießer. In Belval, dem Herzen der luxemb. Hüttenindustrie, wird der Eloi-Tag alljährlich von der Amicale des hauts-fourneaux (heichiewen.lu) mit einem Fackelumzug und einer anschließenden Veranstaltung im Festsaal (Reden, Ansprachen, Projektion von Bildern/Filmen) begangen. Musikalisch untermalt wurde die Veranstaltung von den Musikern um Luciano Pagliarini: der Brigade d'intervention musicale (BIM). Die sonnerie aux morts wird gespielt (Trommel, Trompete) von Musikern des OGBL (Unabhängiger Gewerkschaftsbund Luxemburg).
