Blue Ridge Mountain Camping and Hiking Recommendations
A subscriber asked where I like to camp and hike, especially along the Linville Gorge. My answer and humble opinion are shared in this video. I really like the Jonas Ridge trails that go up to Table Rock, Hawksbill Mountain and the Chimneys area. Wiseman's View is a great place to visit with lots of little rugged campsites along the road. Crabtree Falls is great if you want to shoot photos of great Autumn beauty, and Mt. Mitchell is worth seeing. If you like a traditional campground, I mention Carolina Hemlocks. There's a lot of hiking and outdoor adventure in this area, among the highest and most dramatic locations in the Appalachian Mountains.

For those who didn't know...we sold the Jeep around Thanksgiving of 2016 because we needed something a bit bigger for a family of 5.
Aska Bear - Aska Adventure Area Blue Ridge Mountain View Cabin
As you follow along the drive of Aska Road in Blue Ridge, GA you will go by the Benton McKaye Trail, through some mountain terrain, skirt the edges of the Toccoa River and instantly know you are coming to an adventure. The Aska Bear cabin rests on a mountain ridge overlooking the Toccoa River Valley and the Chattahoochee National Forest. It has year round panoramic mountain views, and is just a few short minutes from the Toccoa Riverside Restaurant and great dining.
Once at the cabin you can relax while you look over the beautiful mountains of North Georgia. A wonderful screened in porch off the main floor overlooks mountain views and sunsets while you relax reading a book or enjoying time with family and friends. Also, there is a private screed in porch off of the master bedroom. There are plenty of amenities to keep the kids and adults busy with as well: a ping pong table, card table, great sitting area in the game room, and a hot tub.
There is an outdoor fire pit with Adirondack seating for 4 where you can enjoy roasting marshmallows, hot dogs, or making smores! Also, at night you can gaze into the open sky to see the spectacular display of stars that is better than having your own planetarium. Also, looking for a great dinner, Aska Bear is only a few short minutes from the Toccoa Riverside Restaurant for great food including fresh and local trout!
Within a short drive from the cabin are many attractions.There is biking and hiking on the Benton McKaye Trail, other hiking trails with beautiful waterfalls at Fall Branch Falls in the heart of the famous North Georgia Aska Adventure Area. You can kayak, canoe, or tube down the Toccoa River for some family fun. You can use one of several tubing companies in the upper Toccoa area. Shallowford Bridge Tubing, Jon - Ron, or Toccoa Valley Campground all rent tubes and they will drop you off and pick you up to make for a great, relaxing 3 or 4 hours on the river.
Aska Bear is located a very short distance from the beautiful downtown Blue Ridge that boasts great restaurants, the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway, and shopping. Other nearby activities include White Water Rafting on the Ocoee River, Horseback Riding, boat rentals on Lake Blue Ridge and Scenic Train Rides. Noontootla Creek Farms, a premier North Georgia hunting and fishing headquarters on over 2000 private acres or Cohutta Fishing Club that provides trophy trout fishing on 5 miles of private stream. Whatever your outdoor desire is, Aska Bear puts you right in the middle of it all!!

USA Tour - Part 1- Blue Ridge Mountains
Our first food pit stop was at Smokin D's on the outskirts of st Augustine. We were starving and saw it at a stop street arriving into the town. Jarrod loves food smoking joints and was previously talking about wanting pulled brisket. So this was perfect. Well we certainly satisfied the cravings with one pulled brisket and one pulled pork sandwhich which we shared. Brisket was def the best which we washed down with a cold angry orchard we had chili in our fridge. #RVlife We now back on the road driving into st Augustine. Stopped off in Jacksonville, Senioa, and ended off the first leg of our journey.

Quiet Creek Front Cabin, Perfect for Family and Friends
At Lazy Creek Retreat you can read a book peacefully in a rocking chair or laze-away the hours while relaxing in the hammock.
It is a beautifully maintained cabin convenient to everything Blue Ridge has to offer. It is built with 3 decks overlooking the of the creek below, including a newly added sun deck to allow you plenty of space for outdoor living. The sundeck has a built in bar overlooking the creek which is perfect for breakfast on cool Blue Ridge mornings.
Lazy Creek Retreat has 3 king bedrooms and 3 full bathrooms as well as a sleeper sofa in the basement so it sleeps 8 very comfortably.
The front entrance takes you into the main level with open kitchen, living and dining area. If you want to prepare a cozy meal for two or dinner for a large group, everything you need in the kitchen is right here. The main level king bedroom has doors that open onto one of the decks. This main level deck has ceiling fans and extends onto the newly added sundeck with built in bar.
Upstairs you will find a large loft with an oversized bean bag, reclining sofas, flat screen TV, Blue-ray/DVD player and bookcase stocked with books in case you forgot to bring one along. Also upstairs is another King bedroom with a private deck and full bath.
The basement is where the last king bedroom and full bath are located. It also has the queen sleeper sofa, TV and DVD cabinet full of DVD’s perfect for movie night. Inside the trunk you will find an wide assortment of board games and puzzles. The basement is also setup with a ping pong table ready for a competitive tournament as well as an XBOX 360 with games including Rock Band. Off the basement is the lower level deck that includes the hot tub. It’s a covered deck so you can use it rain, shine, or snow!
At Lazy Creek Retreat you feel miles away from everything, but if you decide to venture out and explore, you are only 8 miles from Downtown Blue Ridge for amazing food and shopping, 2 miles from Historic McCaysville where you can cool off while tubing on the Toccoa River, 9 miles from Whitewater Rafting on the Ocoee River made famous from the 1996 Olympics or mountain biking on the Tanasi Trail System, 12 miles from Lake Blue Ridge where you can enjoy a sunset Stand Up Paddling tour. You are also not far from hiking the Benton MacKaye Trail or the Aska Adventure Area and many beautiful local waterfalls.
