November 21, 2019 New Jersey/Delaware Bay Fishing Report with Jim Hutchinson, Jr.
Weekly fishing reports for NJ/DE Bay at
If you’ve been waiting for a weather break to get back on the surf & inshore grounds, things are definitely looking up. Surf wise, winds are mostly W/NW all the through Saturday which could keep bunker schools and sand eels tighter to the beach. Southbound stripers are still harassing bait schools in Monmouth County, so the offshore winds and window of dry, stable weather could put similar action in reach of casters into Ocean and Atlantic counties as well. Specks are still around Cape May County; we have one Wednesday report of a slam catch this week of redfish and speckled trout too!
Boat guys continue to find better action, with top bass in this week’s video forecast going 55 and 67-1/2 pounds! As for bottom fish options, light NW/SW for much of the day Saturday and calm seas could lead to a gangbusters day on the wrecks and snags. Very little toggin’ has been accomplished since New Jersey’s bag went to five fish last week, so the open weather window should be especially favorable to blackfish tournament anglers out of Manasquan Inlet this week. Those looking for cooler-fillers this week might also want to consider a black sea bass and/or porgy party boat trip on Saturday, to get while the getting is good! Best bet for Jersey Shore surfcasters this week, look for birds and bait in offshore wind conditions and prepare to match either peanuts or sand eels for success.
