SUMMARY
=======
The Booker T. Washington National Monument is a National Monument near Hardy, Franklin County, Virginia. It preserves portions of the 207-acre (0.90 km²) tobacco farm on which educator and leader Booker T. Washington was born into slavery on April 5, 1856. It provides interpretation of Washington's life and achievements, as well as interpretation of 1850s slavery and farming through the use of buildings, gardens, crafts and animals.
Congress authorized the Booker T. Washington Memorial half dollar to fund the purchase of the site. This commemorative half dollar was the first US coin to feature an African American, and was minted from 1946 to 1951 at three different mints. 18 varieties of the coin were produced, and more than 1.5 million were sold (primarily to collectors). Yet, after the coin's production was finished, the BTW Commission owed more money than it had assets, and the Commonwealth of Virginia had to step in to provide funds to purchase the site.
The site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1966 and designated a National Monument on April 2, 1956.

A Centennial Tribute honoring Alabama's Three Extension Visionaries
Many Americans of many temperaments, talents and racial and ethnic backgrounds helped paint the rich mosaic that we know today as Cooperative Extension. Much of the mosaic can be attributed to the efforts of one man, Booker T. Washington, who led an agricultural and mechanical school known then as the Tuskegee Normal and Industrial Institute.
He, along with famed Tuskegee Institute researcher George Washington Carver, understood that the insights generated at Tuskegee and other agricultural research facilities across the United States would be fully utilized only if they were successfully communicated directly to farmers where they lived and worked.
They pioneered the use of agricultural demonstration wagons, known as Jesup Wagons or Movable Schools. Washington appointed star Tuskegee student Thomas Monroe Campbell to oversee the implementation of this grand vision. These wagons, launched in 1906, were dispatched to far-flung regions of Alabama to provide producers with the most efficient farming methods.
Without being fully aware of it at the time, Washington and Carver transformed Extension work.
The first 100 years of Cooperative Extension work are due in no small measure to these three men who acquainted Americans with practical knowledge in a way that had never been tried before — knowledge that not only empowered people, but in a great number of cases, actually saved them.
In this Centennial Year, it is with immense pride that the Alabama Cooperative Extension System salutes these three Cooperative Extension visionaries from Alabama without whom the Extension legacy would not have been possible: Booker T. Washington, George Washington Carver, and Thomas Monroe Campbell.

SUMMARY
=======
Lynching is a premeditated extrajudicial killing by a group. It is most often used to characterize informal public executions by a mob in order to punish an alleged transgressor, or to intimidate a group. It is an extreme form of informal group social control such as charivari, skimmington, riding the rail, and tarring and feathering, and often conducted with the display of a public spectacle for maximum intimidation. It is to be considered an act of terrorism and punishable by law. Instances of lynchings and similar mob violence can be found in every society.In the United States, lynchings of African Americans, typically by hanging, became frequent in the South during the period after the Reconstruction era and especially during the decades on either side of the turn of the 20th century. At the time, Southern states were passing new constitutions and laws to disenfranchise African Americans and impose legal segregation and Jim Crow rule. Most lynchings were conducted by white mobs against black victims, often suspects taken from jail before they were tried by all-white juries, or even before arrest. The political message—the promotion of white supremacy and black powerlessness—was an important element of the ritual. Lynchings were photographed and published as postcards, which were popular souvenirs in the U.S., to expand the intimidation of the acts. Victims were sometimes shot, burned alive, or otherwise tortured and mutilated in the public events. In some cases the mutilated body parts were taken as mementos by the spectators. Particularly in the West, other minorities—Native Americans, Mexicans and Asians—were also lynched. The South had the states with the highest total numbers of lynchings.

Better Qualified works closely with collections attorneys to comb through all of your 3rd party collections in search of violations. When an account is sold to a 3rd party, often times the collection company will violate set regulations. This leaves the consumer paying more than they have to or paying for something that isn’t theirs. Our collection attorneys have not only gotten 3rd party and medical collections removed from our clients reports, but have also succeeded in obtaining cash settlements for some clients as well.

As with all industries, the production processes are distinguished by their use of specialized human resources and specialized physical capital. In addition, the way in which these establishments acquire and allocate financial capital, their source of funds, and the use of those funds provides a third basis for distinguishing characteristics of the production process. For instance, the production process in raising funds through deposit-taking is different from the process of raising funds in bond or money markets. The process of making loans to individuals also requires different production processes than does the creation of investment pools or the underwriting of securities.
