Dublin has gotten a surfeit of new theatres in recent years (Helix, Project, Blanch, Ballymun, Tallaght, Dundrum, etc.)
The latest is definitely the most spectacular. Designed by Daniel Libeskind, the architect of the Twin Towers replacement in New York.
The auditorium is wonderful. A huge space with a massive stage & a complete orchestra pit.
A good start was had with Swan Lake, and the Russian State Ballet.

It is four years since THE MOSCOW STATE OPERA brought their production of CARMEN to Dublin and the overwhelmingly enthusiastic response was such that a return was inevitable.
Sung in French with English surtitles, this traditional staging is directed by George Isaakyan, one of Russia’s foremost Directors and multi-winner of the country’s most prestigious award THE GOLDEN MASK. Enthused Isaakyan “ Our sets have been designed in association with THE PICASSO FOUNDATION, which together with the costumes and Bizet’s wonderful score, guarantee an authentic Spanish feel to the whole performance”.
CELINE BYRNE, Ireland’s own International soprano will be starring in the role of MICHAELA every evening, and the orchestra of THE MOSCOW STATE OPERA will accompany the soloists, a magnificent chorus, and the children’s choir provided by THE JUNIOR MUSICALS THEATRE SCHOOL OF BRAY ( who have been practising for weeks and are terrific!)
A real treat for opera lovers and those who are new to this art-form

THE Bord Gais Energy Theatre Awards Experience #BGESTA with St Joseph's school Clonakilty
Now in it’s 4th year, the Bord Gáis Energy Student Theatre Awards gives students, teachers and schools a chance to be recognised and rewarded for their participation in the dramatic arts. We know that in every school there are budding actors, singers, dancers, choreographers and writers and we want to celebrate them!
The Awards are open to primary school pupils from 3rd-6th class and all secondary students. By entering, you are in with a chance to win great prizes for your school and a chance to attend an awards ceremony in the Bord Gáis Energy Theatre on 8 May 2017.
