This is the latest addition to the major remodel of the CBP offices taking place at the border crossing between Tijuana and San Diego, all of this construction has been ongoing for the last three years and is scheduled to be completed in late 2020.

So this is the second video I’m doing on this New Mexican Customs check point heading south from San Diego through the San Ysidro port of entry. The first one I did wasn’t really complete and was taken on the first day it was open with in 12 hours of it opening. This time when I drove through I was more prepared. The actual check point hasn’t been staffed yet and the old check point is still in use but I’m sure very soon they’ll be stamping passports and asking questions just like they do going north. Honestly it’ll be nice to just get a stamp in my passport. Lol. I’ve been living in Mexico going back and forth to the US for a year and a half and I don’t have a single stamp in my passport from Mexico. Go figure.
Anyway, It’s good to see Mexico being more careful of what and who is coming in. While Mexico has a largely tourist based economy, the narcotic business is very real and while we talk about the drugs that come north, we don’t often talk about the money that comes South. These check points should be able to identify people bringing large hauls of money south at the very least and maybe, just maybe, stamp my passport. ;)

CROSSING FROM TIJUANA TO SAN YSIDRO BORDER
Usually when crossing the Tijuana-San Ysidro border walking it will be a 10-20 minute wait depending on the day and time that you cross. What I do is I park my car at Estacionamiento Centenario and walk to the line. The drive from my house to the parking lot is about 20 minutes. To get to work I take the blue like and green line trolley which is pretty far north. On average, it takes me about 2 hours to get to my job from my house.
