A quick visit to Bothwell Lodge State Historic Site

Bothwell Lodge State Historic Site is a state-owned property located north of Sedalia, Missouri, United States, preserving the 31-room, 12,000-square-foot summer home, Bothwell Lodge, built for Sedalia attorney John Homer Bothwell. The site offers tours and trails for hiking and mountain biking. It is administered by the Missouri Department of Natural Resources.

Arrow Rock Missouri | RV Life

In this episode we are camping at Arrow Rock State Park! We visited the historic towns of Arrow Rock and Blackwater and Bothwell Lodge State Historic Site in Missouri. It was a jam packed and super fun weekend!

The campground is fantastic and we lucked out to get the only full hook up spot. The Visitor's Center has a great museum and is right along the path to the old western town of Arrow Rock. We even got to attend their Night at the Museum event which featured history come to life as actors played the parts of historical figures from the town's past as a primary trail head for the Sante Fe Trail.

We also got the pleasure of visiting another historic old western town, Blackwater, MO. We ended up being there a little too early for many of the shops, but history of the town was on display everywhere and was incredible to take in.

The next day, we were detoured by flooding and ended up visiting Bothwell Lodge near Sedalia, MO. Katie has been dying to seeing this place, with it's fantastic and unique architecture. We couldn't get any video of the interior, but check the blog and our Instagram feed for tons of pictures.

It was a fantastic trip, we all learned so much about the important part western Missouri played in supplying the Old West with important resources. They do a fall festival in October and we are going to try and get back there for that!

We are Katie and Scott, travelers, adventurers, seeking a life of full time RV living with our youngest kid and our crazy dog. Right now we're still at the planning stages, getting ready for fulltime RV life while our older kids finish up school and get settled on their own.

We've started our lives over about 6 years ago, getting married and combining forces into the awesome family of 6 we have now! So in many ways we get to do everything all over again, this time with the benefit of being older and wiser. We plan to home school the little one as we go on the road full time for a few years, then find a place to settle down and call home.

We're still trying to figure out what we're doing with this whole camping and RV life thing and you all get to join us as we learn how to organize our space and downsize all our junk. We're trying to embrace this minimalist lifestyle as well as learn how to use as these great camping and RV products that are out there.
