A large campground found in Bow Valley Provincial Park, about 30 km east of Canmore just north of Hwy. 1, off the Hwy. 1X. Sites are well-treed with a variety of options: unserviced, power/water, and walk-in. It is situated along the Bow River for pleasant views of the valley and surrounding mountains. There are many amenities and activities here, including interpretive programs, bike rentals, canoeing outfitters, a boat launch, concession, playground and showers.

Bow Valley Provincial Park is a provincial park located in Alberta, Canada. Established in 1959 in the arch of Bow River, at the confluence with Kananaskis River, the park is one park of many within the Kananaskis Country park system.

Rescue boat and Public Safety and Conservation officer staff often respond to accidents on the Bow River upstream and downstream of Canmore in Bow Valley Wildpand Provincial park. These rivers are fast flowing full of strainers and sweepers and numerous other obstacles. Kananaskis Country Public Safety responds to accidents along the Bow river outside of Banff National Park, The Kananaskis River, as well as the Elbow, Sheep and Highwood rivers.

Kananaskis Peter Lougheed Provincial Park Camping (4K) | Journey Alberta
Today I go camping for a night in the Peter Lougheed Provincial Park section of Kananaskis Country! I camp with my Mom and her boyfriend Ken at the Boulton Creek Campground at site D-120/D-121. On our first day it rained a lot so we spent some time at the visitor center in the park, exploring the building. When the rain stopped, we headed to the North Interlakes Day Use area to do a short hike by the shore of the Upper Kananaskis Lake. Our second day takes us to the Elbow Sheep Wildland where we do the hike to the Rae Glacier! It takes us past the backcountry campground at Elbow Lake, and then up towards the glacier for an amazing hike.

Bow Valley Wildflowers
In the montane habitat of Bow Valley Provincial Park, less than an hour's drive west of Calgary, grow the most wonderful varieties of wildflowers. Mom points out her favourite wildflowers and continues her lifelong mission to teach her children the names of all of these little miracles springing joyfully from the earth. One of the birds you can hear is the Hermit Thrush, accompanied by my guitar :o)

Canmore Nordic Centre Provincial Park is a provincial park in Alberta, Canada, located immediately west of Canmore, 105 km (65 mi) west of Calgary. The park is situated at the foot of Mount Rundle in the Canadian Rockies, along the Bow Valley and the Trans-Canada Highway, at an elevation of 1,400 m (4,600 ft) and has a surface of 4.5 km2 (1.7 sq mi). It is part of the Kananaskis Country park system.

Day 27 and 28 6-26-16 and 6-27-16 We camp at Crescent Falls, Alberta and then view the falls the next morning.
Cougar on a kill - Bow Valley Provincial Park
Conservation Officers in Kananaskis Country placed a motion detection camera on a fresh cougar killed deer. The images collected gave an amazing insight on how a cougar when left undisturbed behaves and utilizes a kill. These images are only a portion of all the images taken. This covers a period of two days. Of interest is how the cougar only feeds at night, then painstakingly covers the kill with grass and twigs as daylight approaches. We never realized a cat spends almost all of its time around the kill, lounging around and resting. None of this would be visible if it wasn't for these cameras giving us insight into the life of a cougar. The flashes at night are infra-red, so are invisible to the animal.
