Braehead Clan vs Dundee Stars 25/2/2017
Glasgow’s Braehead Clan have won the Gardiner Conference title for the third season in a row and their fourth in five years after defeating Dundee Stars 4-1.
Going into the game, Marc LeFebvre’s side were the only other team that could mathematically win the silverware, but their hopes quickly evaporated in the first period.
Clan were ahead after eight minutes when Stefan Della Rovere teed up Cody Carlson on the blue line, who sent it flying past Dundee goalie Joe Fallon.
A fight broke out between the Stars’ Justin Faryna and Corey Cowick that got the fans on their feet as the noise level cranked up.
It was the home side that took advantage as Matt Beca glided down the inside right and his attempt to play it into the danger zone saw it deflected past Fallon.
Then a breakaway saw Beca turn provider as he set up Mike Hammond, who finished with aplomb and the home side were three up.
Dundee pulled one back early on in the middle period when a scramble in front of Michal Zajkowski’s goal allowed Cale Tanaka to finish it off.
But the home side reopened the three-goal lead as Alex Leavitt converted an excellent solo effort, coming in from the outside to round Fallon and complete a wonderful move.
The buzzer went at the end to confirm Clan’s success in the Conference once again as well as a place in the play-offs at the end of the next month.

Braehead Clan vs Manchester Storm 8/3/2017
Glasgow’s Braehead Clan returned to winning ways as they took maximum points in a 4-1 win over Manchester Storm.
Storm thought they had the puck in the net when Mario Trabucco managed to squeeze the puck past Clan goalie Michal Zajkowski, but the referee had already blown the whistle.
The home side managed to get the opening goal when a chance fell for Craig Peacock on the inside right and he despatched his shot into the net.
Omar Pacha’s side went close through Mark Heatly’s chance hitting the post, then Zajkowski denying Darian Dzuirzynski, who was through on a one-on-one situation.
Manchester eventually got on the scoresheet in the final minute of period one when Taylor Dickin sent a shot into the roof of the net to equalise.
Both teams worked hard in the second, but both defences weren’t willing to bend as there wasn’t a lot of clear cut chances.
Scott Pitt bucked that trend with a low shot at Mike Clemente’s glove side to restore Braehead’s lead.
Then Pitt turned provider as Mike Hammond lashed home a one-time effort to open a two-goal lead over the Storm.
But the game was killed off in the third as Corey Cowick picked up the puck on the far side, skated through on Clemente and sent his shot into the net to confirm another home win.
