Brannan Island State Recreation Area is a state park unit of California, United States, preserving a maze of waterways in the Sacramento–San Joaquin River Delta. The recreation area is located in Sacramento County between Rio Vista and Isleton. This park northeast of San Francisco Bay has countless islands and marshes with many wildlife habitats and many opportunities for recreation, including boating, windsurfing and swimming. The 329-acre park was established in 1952.The area offers fishing, including striped bass, sturgeon, catfish, bluegill, perch and bullhead. Southeast, accessed by the San Joaquin River, Frank’s Tract, a protected wetland marsh, is home to beaver, muskrat, river otter, mink and 76 species of birds. Another wetland also managed by Brannan Island's Park Rangers is Delta Meadows River Park near the town of Locke. Canoe tours of 'the meadows' may be reserved on weekends during the spring and fall season through Brannan Island SRA.Brannan Island SRA has a six-lane launch ramp, over 140 campsites and areas for picnicking and swimming. The visitor center is open weekends and by arrangement. Inside are displays on the cultural and natural history of the Delta, including a large interactive map of the San Francisco Bay Area and Delta. Day use areas include the Windy Cove windsurfing access, the group picnic area located at the Ramadas, and Seven Mile Slough picnic area. The group picnic facility and Seven Mile Slough day use area close at sunset. Windy Cove closes at the hour posted at the entrance road to Windy Cove. Seven Mile Slough picnic area includes picnic tables, barbecues and drinking water. New restroom facilities were completed late in 1997 and include flush toilets and outdoor cold showers. Seven Mile Slough's swim beach has lifeguards from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Ample parking is close to the beach. The Ramadas have shaded picnic structures with large barbecues, picnic tables, water and trash receptacles. A large open grassy area is adjacent to the site for games. The closest restroom to the Ramadas is located north of the swim beach along Seven Mile Slough. The climate in the Delta is mild, with winter temperatures usually ranging between 45 and 55 degrees and summer temperatures between 75 and 95. An occasional heat wave will push the temperatures in summer to 100 degrees or more but the Delta breeze is never far away.

Road Ready Campground Reviews, Park Delta Bay, Isleton CA.

On our way north out of California, we stopped and stayed in this great little park on the Delta Loop. Park Delta Bay is a nice little RV park situated a short drive off of I5 about an hour from Sacramento, or an hour and a half from San Francisco.

We caught Park Delta Bay in the off season but can certainly tell that this park is a great spot to be at when the weather is nice. The short bumpy drive to this unique local is worth the drive and time spent.

In addition to RV spots, this park offers cabins for rent and is also accommodates tiny houses. If boating is your thing, there is a marina directly across the road, and several a short drive in either direction.

We had a great dinner at the Spindrift restaurant thats a super short walk from the park. Try the fish tacos!

The park offers free Wifi, and the Verizon signal is outstanding. We were getting 100 MBS down and 40 up with Verizon.

Driving from John Muir National Historic Site in Martinez, through the Sacramento River Delta, to Downtown Sacramento, California, October 2016.

The route taken is not the shortest, but it is a scenic one. We used Highway 4, which took us across the Antioch Bridge(Highway 160) and into the Sacramento River Delta. Traveling along the Sacramento River, crossing multiple bridges(including Isleton Bridge, Walnut Grove Bridge), we eventually transitioned to Route E13, before finally merging onto Interstate I-5 for the rest of the way to downtown Sacramento.

The bridge we crossed at the 2:06 mark is the Three Mile Slough Bridge, which as its name suggests, spans the Three Mile Slough. On the other side of the bridge is the Brannan Island State Recreation Area.

Fire has destroyed seven homes in a mobile home park near Isleton, California.
Wildfires are common in the US state, but the situation has been exacerbated by a four-year drought that has caused several wildfires.
Aerial footage showed mobile homes ablaze.

USA: ISLETON: 500 GUN PERMITS ISSUED IN TOWN WITH 800 INHABITANTS

The gun crazy days of America's 'Wild West' are making their last stand in a small Californian town 60 miles outside San Francisco.

In the past year the police chief of Isleton has issued more than five hundred gun permits in a town with just over 800 inhabitants.

With the recent gun massacres in Britain and Australia, most countries are struggling to tighten gun laws, but in Isleton they claim the guns are keeping trouble out.

Cars have replaced horses on Main Street but little else has changed in Isleton, a small town in California.

A few cowboy films were once shot here but the town's fame comes from it being one of the most heavily armed communities in the country.

Isleton boasts no murders, no rapes and no violent crime.

The police chief, Eugene Byrd, has infuriated many state and national politicians by granting gun permits to just about every citizen without a criminal record that asks for one.

Far from averting a bloodbath, he claims gun control has handed America's cities to the criminals.

They talk about a bloodbath but its happening now any rate. It's the criminals who have the guns, not the honest person. That is why we are having the crime we have now. Honest citizens do not have guns to protect themselves.

The Chief requests all new licence holders take gun training at the local target ranges.

This year Chief Byrd has issued 12 times as many gun permits as the entire Los Angeles Police Department.

Attempts by state officials to slow the distribution have failed and there is little they can do to stop Chief Byrd.

Most locals are convinced he is right.

If I walk through the door and I know there are 14 people in there carrying guns, do you think I will try to rob somebody? I'm going to go and rob where I know there is no-one with a gun. This is the way the criminal thinks.

Local gun shops even sell T-shirts in honour of the police chief.

A 'right to carry arms' bill is now before the Californian legislature and it would extend the Isleton experience across the state.

Those opposed to the bill believe the casualty rate in large cities like San Francisco and L-A would explode.

More than 100 people a day are killed by firearms in the US.

The rate will go up because you have more guns being used where there is conflict. Every day in a city there is conflict: traffic disputes, parking lots, at work. You are going to see an escalation of the violence.

Meanwhile at three dollars a permit the Chief continues to grant the wishes of citizens eager to bare arms.

He has warned his opponents they will have to fire him and take on America's constitution if they want the permits stopped.

Bob Dole, the Republican presidential candidate has promised to repeal existing gun control legislation.
