Brantley Lake State Park - New Mexico - Camping
Brantley Lake State Park is a state park of New Mexico, United States, located approximately 12 miles (19 km) north of Carlsbad.[2] The park takes its name from Brantley Lake, a man-made reservoir created when Brantley Dam was built across the Pecos River in the 1980s. The lake is the southernmost lake in New Mexico, and it is popular for boating and fishing. It has a surface area of approximately 4,000 acres (16 km2), but that varies due to the inconsistent flow of the Pecos River and the arid climate in which the lake is located.
The lake is stocked with bass, walleye, catfish, bluegill, and crappie, however officials have recently detected high levels of DDT in the fish and the State Parks Department is recommending that the fish not be eaten.
The park has 51 developed campsites with electricity, shower facilities, a playground, a visitor center, and other amenities.
RV Travel Life | Carlsbad to Alamogordo
Happy National Parks Weeks 2017!
Travel Day! From Carlsbad, NM to Alamogordo, NM. We went from flat desert as far as you could see, to mountainous, to in between two mountain ranges. Just before arriving in Alamogordo, NM you could also see White Sands National Monument off in the distance.
Bullet is doing better every travel day in the car. He spent about 10 minutes panicking this time and then settled in! We think he is finally getting the hang of it (we hope!).
John got to experience pulling the 5th wheel up/down steep elevations and curvy roads. It was the perfect day to try it. There was hardly any traffic the entire route and the weather was great.

Carlsbad, NM 88220

This is a brand new park as of September 2016. The park itself is already really awesome. At the time we were there, they were still working on landscaping. The buildings including bathrooms, office, and laundry were all immaculate. They have a dedicated dog area, with fencing. The WiFi signal is very good (as we are uploading this video with it currently). You can actually stream videos from Amazon Prime, Hulu, and Netflix. The RV park is located 28 miles from Carlsbad National Park (actually one of the closest parks to Carlsbad National Park) and it is just on the edge of Carlsbad, NM. The RV Park is also 2.5 miles from Living Desert Zoo & Gardens State Park.

Carlsbad, New Mexico
This is a few pics of the girls when we went to Carlsbad, New Mexico. The clouds turned into a hugh thunderstorm...both Friday and Saturday afternoons. The swimming in the motel pool lasted about 15 minutes...then they wanted to go to the river. The river is actually the Pecos river that the city of Carlsbad damed up. They call it Lake Carlsbad...something like 100 feet across and maybe 1-1/4 mile long...still pretty nice. The tongue curling thing by Kenzie was when we were at dinner Saturday night. I cant do that either, so...now what? Kyndal is trying, but cant get the twist. The black eye that Kenzie has is from a collision with one of the kids at the river out in the water. It was a pretty hard hit but she came thru it fine. She was pretty proud of it by Tuesday. The pics in the cemetery are of the Bujac family grave site. No, I dont know them personally, but I do know who Bruce Cabot was. He was one of the regular players in many John Wayne western films...usually playing the part of a bad guy. He did play some good guy parts too, but now that I have said who he is...go look up some John Wayne westerns and you will see.

Heron Lake State Park - New Mexico Camping, Hiking & Fishing! - UHD 4k
I visited Heron Lake in late-May 2018, just before the Memorial Day and the summer vacation rush. This updated video was produced on June 17, 2018. I unilaterally decided that I was talking too much in the older video. So, less yapping.
According to New Mexico State Parks, A picturesque lake set among the tall pines of northern New Mexico, Heron Lake State Park has been designated a “quiet lake” where boats operate at no-wake speeds only, making it an excellent location for all types of paddle craft. Heron also has amazing sailing, cross-country skiing, and hiking.
Heron (Garza in spanish) is a fisherman's paradise with record-size trout and kokanee salmon. Ice fishing is very popular in winter. Several campgrounds line the shore of this scenic lake with primitive and developed campsites are available for every taste.
Price per night: $10+
Park elevation: 7,167 feet
Nearest city: Tierra Amarilla and Los Ojos, NM

Roswell, New Mexico - Bottomless Lakes State Park HD (2016)
Bottomless Lakes State Park is a state park in the U.S. state of New Mexico, located along the Pecos River, about 15 miles (24 km) southeast of Roswell. Established in 1933, it was the first state park in New Mexico. It takes its name from nine small, deep lakes located along the eastern escarpment of the Pecos River valley. The escarpment is an ancient limestone reef, similar to the limestone mountains around Carlsbad Caverns, 80 miles (130 km) to the south. Caves formed within the limestone, and as the Pecos River eroded the escarpment, the caves eventually collapsed, leaving behind several deep, almost circular lakes known as cenotes.
