Gallup to Albuquerque, New Mexico - Breaking Bad (RV Living)
We travel from Gallup, New Mexico to Albuquerque, New Mexico for a three night visit. While there, we go on a self-guided tour of a few Breaking Bad filming locations. We also tour some vintage travel trailers at Enchanted Trails RV Park & Trading Post.
Rocky Mountain Heisenberg (Pt. 23) - Breaking Bad Tour of Albuquerque, New Mexico
July 4, 2018 - A visit to New Mexico these days isn't complete until you've done a self-guided tour of all of the Breaking Bad filming locations around Albuquerque. It's been a few years since I've seen this amazing show, so I kept my tour to just the main locations I could discover: the house of Walter White and his family (Skylar, Walt Jr., and Holly); the office of Saul Goodman; the A1A Car Wash; the Pinkman residence; and, finally, doubling as our lunch location for the day, Los Pollos Hermanos (aka Twisters).
Los Pollos Hermanos was easily the most interactive - in fact, not only are they clearly proud of being a part of the show's history (a very important part, in fact!), but they have episodes of the series filmed at their location airing for your viewing pleasure. Or it's just proof that the show was filmed there. Or both? It was fun to have lunch in the one booth where Walt and Gus first met.
Another great looking eatery which isn't a part of the show (but makes food inspired by the show!) is Rebel Donut. There are a few locations around the ABQ - the one location we went to was a stone's throw away from the northeast sector of town where the White house is. It's a shame they ran out of Blue Sky donuts because of the 4th of July holiday today...
Speaking of these private residences, be mindful of peoples' privacy when you're in the residential areas. Don't be throwing any pizzas on the roof - it's not polite, and it's a waste of pizza!

ROTR DAY 10 Breaking Bad RV tour
Day 10 of the Rock on the Range Road Trip and we're still going strong! Today we meet up with Frank and Dave from the Breaking Bad RV Tours in ABQ New Mexico. They showed us some of the places the show was shot, gave us some in depth stories about working on the show and what the movie industry means for the state.
Albuquerque, New Mexico - Breaking Bad, Old Town, Nuclear Energy and Sandia Peak
Product: Country Bound Microfiber Towel
Today we explore Albuquerque, New Mexico. Being a Breaking Bad fan I started my day by visiting some of the show's locations, including Twister's also known as Los Pollos Hermanos, Walter Whites house, the Car Wash, and Hank's home. Then I went to Old Town, had lunch at the oldest house Church Street Cafe. Then I visited the National Museum of Nuclear Science and History, and finally took a ride on the Sandia Peak Tramway.

Breaking Bad House Tour - 322 16th St SW, Albuquerque, NM
The Worst Breaking Bad RV Tour
The Worst Breaking Bad RV Tour You’ve Ever Seen - is ours.
We rolled into Albuquerque with only one thing on our to do list- visit filming locations from Breaking Bad. While Season One of Breaking Bad aired over ten years ago, visiting iconic locations from the series whether on a self guided tour or in tour group remains the top activity in ABQ for visitors.
A quick google search of filming locations will bring up dozens of different addresses to check out. While we’re huge fans of the show many of them were pretty obscure, even for us. We whittled down the list to some of the bigger ones:
- Pollos Hermanos
- Jessie Pinkman's House
- Crystal Palace
- Tuco's Headquarters
- Walt's Carwash
- Walt's House
Having now visited these sites, here are our takeaways:
You don’t need to pay for a guided tour: With so much information out there about the exact site addresses it’s really not necessary to pay for a guided tour unless you just don’t want to deal with driving yourself around. It also might be a great photo op to roll around in a simliar RV from the show.
Some places are not what you expect: We just felt bad visiting Walts house. There was a huge steel fence up all along the property and the owners were sitting in the front yard staring everyone down. It was the opposite of friendly. We were there at the same time as the Breaking Bad RV tour and you could tell the tour operator was doing his best to keep everyone far away from the property. On the other hand, places likes Twisters (Pollos Hermanos) had the fake logo up in their restaurant and one of the people behind the counter even had a Gus mask. It’s awesome that they play into what they’re known for and embrace it.
Driving an RV in the City blows: Anyone whos been behind the wheel of an RV probably can attest to this- they don’t make for very much fun driving around town with lots of turns. It was also near impossible to park anywhere convenient to a lot of sites so needless to say- lots of driveby “quick looks” during our tour.

Albuquerque, New Mexico: Breaking Bad
Enjoy!! :)
Our Visit to Walter White's school, J.P. Wynne High in Albuquerque, NM
Last August 2015, we did a ton of Breaking Bad location stalking and one of the locations on our list was THE school and classroom Mr White taught Chemistry in. With plenty of perseverance and persistence, we were able to achieve our goal...here's a snippet of what we experienced.
In reality, J.P. Wynne High School is predominantly set and shot at the real life Rio Rancho High School, in you guessed it..Rio Rancho, NM!
Thanks to Greg Martinez, head of Maintenance, for taking the time to give us the tour and tell his personal stories during filming at the school.
I do not own the Breaking Bad Theme song, only a copy of the track, which was composed and recorded by the talented Dave Porter.
BREAKING BAD TRIP IN ABQ!
Vlog #1080 - Today, we almost miss our flight to Albuquerque, and visit Breaking Bad locations such as Walt's house, the car wash, Hank and Marie's house, Los Pollos Hermanos, and Jesse Pinkman's house.
ROUTE 66 RV TRIP: Albuquerque to Flagstaff (TRIPPED RV S2 E6)
ROUTE 66: Albuquerque to Flagstaff
One of the best things about traveling by RV is that there is seldom a feeling to rush from one place to the next- which is good, because the top speed and maneuverability of a 30 ft winnebago make it hard to rush anywhere to begin with.
We did the best to make the drive West from Albequerue, New Mexico to Sedona, Arizona a leisurely one filled with stops. While this was one of the most beautiful drives we did the lack of places to stay along the way made camping a bit more stressful than normal.
We found our solution with Red Rock Park along Highway 40 in New Mexico. We stayed here for a few days to enjoy the nearby hiking to Church Rock. We were also able to schedule in stops at Petrified Forest National Park as well as Meteor Crater.

National Park Pass
This part of the road trip truly cemented in our minds just how wise of a decision it was to purchase the America the Beautiful Annual Park Pass. For $80, we wouldn’t have to concern ourselves with entrance fees to National Parks or over 2,000 Federal recreation sites.
One advantage with the pass is that you can save money if you’re planning on visiting many parks. That’s may be obvious as the first reason you’d spring for the purchase. The other factor that started playing a larger role in our trip is that we wouldn’t think twice about visiting a lesser known fee area for just a short time.
Skipping forward in our trip to right before entering Canada in July, we used the National Park Pass at:
Big Bend
Carlsbad
Petrified Forest
Glen Canyon/Lake Powell
White Sands
Grand Canyon
Glacier
Grand Tetons
Yellowstone

We're based in Salt Lake City, Utah, and invite you to come along as we travel all around the western U.S. My wife Patricia and I, and our dogs Zoe and Maggie are avid boondockers, so you'll seldom find us in RV parks or even dry campgrounds. We'll provide tips and insight on equipping and maintaining your RV, trip planning and travel videos to make your next adventure a grand one indeed! So, subscribe to make sure that you catch every episode, and remember...life is nothing but a Grand Adventure!

ABOUT US:
We’re traveling full time, living on our own terms and showing you the up-close-and-personal details of us figuring it out along the way. Sometimes it’s about navigating big, life-altering decisions. Sometimes it’s about navigating the seemingly lawless free-for-all that is driving in Hanoi. It’s moments of triumph and moments of panic. The good, the bad, the ugly – and most importantly, the real and real funny.
We’re not here to tell you “how it’s done.” Just how we’ve done it. And that whatever it is that’s calling you - the way you’ll do it is much more attainable than it may seem. We believe the world’s a more interesting place when people reject convention in favor of what they actually care about. This is us putting that idea to the test – one budget spreadsheet, RV renovation and mountain-peak drone video at a time.
Albuquerque, New Mexico |Enchanted Trails RV Park, RV Living
We had a BLAST in Albuquerque, New Mexico!! Old town, Route 66 and our RV Park were just what we needed to get back on the road after 2 weeks of staying at one site. We actually tried to camp at Cracker Barrel but in the big city of Albuquerque, it was impossible. Luckily Passport America came through again keeping our stay at $17 a night for full hookups! We managed to get some chores done and see some great sights! The musical highway is worth a drive if you visit Albuquerque or travel down Old Historic Route 66! We would recommend Enchanted Trails RV Park in Albuquerque, NM for a number of reasons including proximity to old town, down town and all major conveniences. It was well cared for and kept up, with an array of antique RVs and travel trailers, classic cars and overall appeal for a Route 66 feel.
