The Brijuni are a group of fourteen small islands in the Croatian part of the northern Adriatic Sea, separated from the west coast of the Istrian peninsula by the narrow Fažana Strait. The largest island, Veliki Brijun Island or Veli Brijun (5.6 km²), lies 2 km off the coast, the others are Mali Brijun, Sv. Marko, Gaz, Okrugljak, Supin, Supinič, Galija, Grunj, Krasnica (Vanga), Madona, Vrsar, Jerolim and Kozada. Der Südwesten Istriens - Teil 3 Die Brijuni Inseln
Die Insel Veli Brijuni ist mit 14 Quadratkilometern die größte der 14 Inseln vor der Südspitze Istriens. Die Insel ist am schnellsten vom Fischerort FAZANA mit dem Schiff zu erreichen. Die Überfahrt dauert ca. 20 Minuten.
Das Eiland war schon zur Römerzeit besiedelt. Viele, z.T. ausgegrabene Ruinen sind zu besichtigen. In den letzten Jahrhunderten wechselten italiensche und österreichische Inselbesitzer. Seit den 50iger Jahren bis 1980 war sie Sommersitz Titos. Die meisten Staatsoberhäupter der Welt und viel Prominenz waren auf Veli Brijun zu Gast.
Seit 1983 ist die Insel mit gewissen Einschränkungen für die Öffentlichkeit zugängig.
Das ganze Insel ist ein einziger, herrlicher Landschaftspark.

Land Train Tour of Veliki Brijun
A land train tour of Veliki Brijun, the largest island in the Brijuni archipelago off the coast of Istria, Croatia, and part of Brijuni National Park. You can also see a bit of Mali Brijun in the first half of this video.
The island is famous as the summer residence of Josip Broz Tito, its flora and fauna, its safari park containing elephant, zebra, and other animals, its golf course and its dinosaur footprints. Clip shot in September 2018.

Film Lošinj - Island of Vitality was filmed in a period of two years with combined video, timelapse and slowmotion sequences and is complemented by numerous photographs and special visual effects to better evoke all the power of beauty of Lošinj archipelago and its energy.
In addition to numerous recordings of the beauty of the islands, its people, the events, the natural, cultural and religious heritage, the film is fullfiled with aerial photographs of this blue-green jewel of the Adriatic and fascinating videos of the rich underwater life and Apoxiomen statue that was found in its depths.
The film was filmed by Marko Vrdoljak for the Mali Lošinj Tourist Board with customly composed music by Zvonko Tešić and creative editing and special effects by Dražen Zeljković & Adam Bukvić.
