HOW TO BUY A BUDAPEST PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION TICKET? (AND A SCAM TO AVOID!) -- True Guide Budapest
In another video ( I talked about the extremely efficient public transportation system of Budapest. In this video I explain how to purchase tickets and passes using the newly installed ticket vending machines.
I also show you an unfortunate scam, whereby the dispenser is blocked with sticky tape, therefore you do not get your change and ticket/pass. You might consider checking the machine prior to using it. Sorry for this! :)

GETTING AROUND BY PUBLIC TRANSPORT IN BUDAPEST -- True Guide Budapest
Although Budapest's center can by explored by foot, some part of the city can be reached more efficiently by public transportation.
Budapest has a fairly extensive and efficient public transportation system, that is also cheaper than in most Western European cities.
I discuss your options to buy tickets and travel cards.
I discuss the metro system, trams, bus services, trolley lines, the suburban railway, Danube boats and also special vehicles (cogwheel, funicular, chairlift and the children's railway). Finally, I mention some further options, such as the public city bikes, car sharing and rentable scooters. Taxis are of course available but unfortunately Uber is not.

Arriving at Budapest Airport - Budapest Ferihegy International Airport - Air Travel Video
We are at the International Arrivals area at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD) in Budapest Hungary. The international passenger arrivals area is easily navigated to, from your flights arrival gate. Once in the baggage claim terminal you can fetch a baggage trolley..... if you happen to have the 300 HUF´s that it costs (not much, but who has small change in local currency when they have just gotten of the plane).
This is the first time I have ever experienced being charged to use a baggage trolley in an airport, not a particularly warm welcome from the airport, hopefully something will be done about that! Check the footage to see if you can see anybody who had the 300 HUF´s for the baggage trolley.
Apart from the above, the baggage claims area is spacious and efficient and it did not take us long to receive our luggage. There were also clean toilet facilities available for passengers. We then proceeded through customs (also very efficient) into the arrivals terminal. In the arrivals terminal we quickly were able to identify the tourist information desk, the airport transfer shuttle / city transfer shuttle and there was no shortage of taxi drivers offering their transport services. We chose to purchase our Budapest Tourist Card (72 hours) at the airport and then opted to be driven to Budapest City Center with the Airport Shuttle. We shared this shuttle from the airport to Budapest City Center with two other couples. We were last to be dropped off, but the service was very quick and we enjoyed the extra sightseeing trip we got out of that.
All in all we found that the International arrivals terminal and services at Budapest Ferenc Liszt International Airport (BUD) were efficient and effective (accept the practice of charging for a baggage trolley!!).

DOS AND DON'TS OF CHANGING MONEY IN BUDAPEST -- True Guide Budapest
Hungary is a member of the EU but does not use the Euro., our official currency is the Hungarian Forint (HUF). You will most definitely get a better exchange rate in Hungary than you would get In your home country, so you should change in Budapest, but there are some tips that you should follow. I will tell you my guide about it in this video.
---TIPS BEFORE LEAVING FOR BUDAPEST---
- Know the actual exchange rate...
- Remember that exchange rates always change
- Research your home bank's partnerships
----MONEY EXCHANGE PLACES TO AVOID-------
(1) Airport currency-exchange places
(2) Currency exchange booths near train stations and touristy areas
(3) Banks
(4) Guys offering currency exchange on the street
----CHOOSING A CURRENCY EXCHANGE PLACE----
(1) Don't choose by the looks of the place
(2) 'Buy and sell rates should be close to each other
(3) No commission is often no bargain
------USE ATM'S TO TAKE OUT CASH!-----
You should always choose to have the exchange done by your own bank and not by the ATM provider!

How to take the Airport Bus in Budapest (+drone videos)
Budapest has an amazing public transportation system. There are metro trains and buses. For coming from the airport to the city center you need to take the E200 bus first and eventually change for the metro. It's very easy and you save money compared to taking a taxi. Previously there used to be Uber, however it's no longer available.
I added some drone footage flying above the roofs of Budapest. I am not very happy about the image quality of my new DJI Mavic Pro. The DJI Phantom (that unfortunately I sold) had a way better camera. I need to check with DJI if my camera is faulty...
Anyway, hope you enjoy the footage of the amazing city Budapest... I have some more footage, also some cool shots that I took there in icy January, that I want to edit and release soon.
One day in BUDAPEST | Travel Vlog (Budapest airport to city center)
One day in BUDAPEST | Travel Vlog (Budapest airport to city center)
We started in Dresden and had no intention on filming in Budapest. But after posting on Instagram on what to do with our 20 hour layover, 93% of the people said we should go downtown. So we spent one day in Budapest and absolutely loved it. We've been to Budapest before, and were reminded of how wonderful it is! We took the bus from the Budapest airport to city center.
In 20 hours, we went to Heroes' Square, Parliament, Buda Castle, Synagogue, and a Ruin Bar. We also ate some pretty tasty Hungarian food along the way.
Our Airbnb host in Budapest canceled, so we didn't think we would make it downtown since we were staying at a hotel at the airport. But we are so happy he canceled, so happy we stayed by the airport, and SO happy our instagram community pushed us out of the airport hotel!
Thank you for watching!

Transfer Budapest Hungary by Car, Taxi, Minibus, Shuttle Bus
From Budapest to anywhere in Hungary or Europe!
Chauffeur driven car rental is the ideal combination with the taxi and the car hire for both price plus comfort. The fastest way would be to take a taxi from the airport or to have a prebooked cab waiting on arrival for a transfer. Airport transfers in Budapest would probably work out cheaper using a prebooked cab since many cab companies in Hungary compete on price and service by offering special discounts and promotions on airport transfer fares. Shared coach airport transfers and public transport is usually cheaper than taking an airport transfer by cab, however shared transfers would also be a lot more time consuming since the bus would have several stops all over Hungary. Transfer Budapest Hungary is a cab company in Hungary offering preferential and discounted rates on prebooked Budapest airport transfers. A quote on airport transfers can be obtained from their website and transfers from Budapest Airport to any city or hotel in Hungary can be prebooked online.
Budapest Airport To City - Budapest with foreign eyes
The 525 km2 area of Budapest lies in central Hungary surrounded by settlements of the agglomeration in Pest county. The capital extends 25 km (16 mi) and 29 km (18 mi) in the north-south, east-west direction respectively. The Danube enters the city from the north; later it encircles two islands, Óbuda Island and Margaret Island. The third island Csepel Island is the largest of the Budapest Danube islands, however only its northernmost tip is within city limits. The river that separates the two parts of the city is only 230 m (755 ft) wide at its narrowest point in Budapest. Pest lies on the flat terrain of the Great Plain while Buda is rather hilly. Pest's terrain rises with a slight eastward gradient, so the easternmost parts of the city lie at the same altitude as Buda's smallest hills, notably Gellért Hill and Castle Hill. The Buda hills consist mainly of limestone and dolomite, the water created speleothems, the most famous ones being the Pálvölgyi cave and the Szemlőhegyi cave. The hills were formed in the Triassic Period. The highest point of the hills and of Budapest is János hill, at 527 metres (1,729 ft) above sea level. The lowest point is the line of the Danube which is 96 metres (315 ft) above sea level. The forests of Buda hills are environmentally protected.
