9 year old girl accidentally kills shooting instructor with Uzi
The seconds before nine-year-old girl accidentally shot gun instructor dead as he taught her how to fire an Uzi released in police video Charles Vacca, a father and army veteran, was assisting the little girl at a shooting range just south of Las Vegas on Monday morning She pulled the trigger of an automatic Uzi and the recoil sent the gun over her head, shooting Vacca He was airlifted to hospital but died on Monday evening
Mohave County Sheriff officials have taken the unusual step of releasing video footage of the split second before a nine-year girl accidentally shot dead her shooting instructor on Monday.
Recorded at the Last Stop shooting range in White Hills, Arizona, the edited 22-second clip plays up to the point where the pig-tailed girl loses control of an Uzi, striking 39-year-old Charles Vacca.
The shocking recording, which reveals the danger of allowing an inexperienced child to handle an automatic weapon, confirms the official report which stated that Vacca was standing closely next to the girl when the gun recoiled as she fired.
As the clip unfolds, Vacca is seen to instruct the girl to hold the weapon with two hands at all times and to take a perpendicular stance to the target.
Then Vacca asks her to fire one shot for him, which she does.
Then, Vacca tells the girl to adjust her stance and squeeze the trigger to let off a volley, but something goes wrong when she fires a second time.
The girl loses her two-handed grip on the weapon and it pulls to her left, striking Vacca in the head.
Charles Vacca, a father and veteran from Lake Havasu City, Arizona, was airlifted to hospital on Monday morning after the little girl shot him with a Uzi at an outdoor shooting range in Dolan Springs.
'Vacca was standing next to the girl while he was instructing her how to use the weapon when the accident happened,' a Mohave County Sheriff’s Office spokesperson told BNO News.
'Further investigations determined [that when] the girl pulled the trigger on the automatic Uzi, the recoil sent the gun over her head, and the victim was shot.'
Vacca was airlifted to University Medical Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, where he died of his injuries around 9pm on Monday. An autopsy will now be carried out.
The nine-year-old girl, who has not been identified, was not injured. She was with her parents as they passed through the area on vacation
Friends paid tribute to Vacca, an army veteran and a married father, as a great friend and soldier on Facebook. Best friend Robert Vera said they often laughed so much that they couldn't breathe.
'He became a brother and a major part of my life through thick and thin,' Vera said. 'Rest In Peace brother.'
Another friend added: 'A Soldier, a father, a mentor and a friend. SSG Charles Vacca will always be remembered with a smile and admiration.'
The incident occurred at the Arizona Last Stop, which is about 25 miles south of Las Vegas, the Mohave County Sheriff's Office told AZFamily. It is home to a shooting range, Bullets and Burgers.
'Our guests have the opportunity to fire a wide range of fully automatic machine guns and specialty weapons,' its website states. 'At our range, you can shoot FULL auto on our machine guns. Let 'em Rip!'
When contacted by MailOnline, staff at Bullets and Burgers would not comment on the incident and referred questions to a nearby gun emporium, but would not say whether or not they were affiliated.
Arizona gun laws require a person to be at least 18 years old to carry a firearm, but the laws do not apply on private property or if the minor is accompanied by a parent or a certified instructor.

[Newsa] Reno Shooting
RENO, Nev. — A gunman shooting from an eighth-floor condo rained bullets on downtown Reno but died after a SWAT team raided his unit, police said Wednesday.
The incident — potentially inspired by Stephen Paddock's 32nd-floor attack on ground-level concertgoers Oct. 1 at the Route 91 Harvest music festival in Las Vegas — began late Tuesday when the Reno shooter took a woman hostage. She later was rescued without injury, and officials have not released her name nor the name of the gunman.
“Honestly, I knew the shooter was close, I could feel the windows vibrate, (and) I could hear things falling from walls,” said Karl Fiebiger, who lives on the seventh floor of The Montage condominium complex where the shooter was holed up. “I was pretty glad to evacuate because I knew I wasn’t in the safest situation if bullets started flying.”

Fiebiger grabbed shoes, a jacket, his laptop and a photo of his parents, then headed for the elevator. Fiebiger said he felt more anxious than scared though it took a while for the reality of the situation to set in.
“I guess this is the country we live in now,” he said.
In Reno, no one on the ground was injured. One woman suffered a superficial injury to her hand.
The gunman, who was in his mid- to late 20s, used a shoulder-fired rifle that held 20 to 50 rounds of ammunition from his perch in the 22-story condominium renovated from what used to be the Golden Phoenix casino. He fired bursts of five to eight shots at Sierra Street that sparked as they ricocheted off the asphalt, said Reno's deputy police chief, Tom Robinson.
Gaps between bursts lasted minutes, and the entire incident lasted 30 minutes, Robinson said.
It was unclear whether the gunman and his hostage lived in the condo where the shooting occurred.
The suspect's motive also remained unclear early Wednesday though officers suspect that mental issues might have been a factor, Robinson said. Radio chatter during the incident suggested that the suspect might have been seeing things.

Mike Pavicich of Las Vegas, in Reno on business, was walking down Fourth Street in front of the Eldorado casino late Tuesday when the first shots first rang out. Pavicich's wife was a nurse who was called in to work after Paddock, 64, opened fire on the Las Vegas music festival 59 days ago from his 32nd-floor suite at Mandalay Bay Casino.
When you heard it's coming from above, it reminds you of the guy shooting from Mandalay Bay, Pavicich said. It's scary, you know? This is the same kind of town.
Paddock, who owned a home and briefly lived in Reno with girlfriend Marilou Danley, also owned a condo at The Montage until December of last year.
