Burma Myanmar tour Christmas in Rangoon
These photos were taken by Ken Osetroff during the 2008 Toursgallery small group tour in Burma ( Myanmar). Help us support the private enterprise business owners in Burma. These friendly people need tourists so that their privately owned restaurants, hotels, buses and attractions can survive. Join this small group tour that departs every December. This is a 15 day escorted tour, off the beaten track, in the footsteps of Rudyard Kipling. People who boycot Burma are only hurting the citizens of Burma. Individual business owners in Burma are relying on the few dollars, that the very few visitors do spend, in order for them to survive. toursgallery.com
Have Christmas Dinner in the historic Strand Hotel in Rangoon and start the tour with accommodation in The Governors Residence Hotel, have a 2 nights cruise on Irrawaddy River, then head upcountry into the less developed parts of Burma.

Yangon Airport.wmv
Myanmar Yangon International Airport is quite new but as usual the immigration is very slow they have the same problem as in Thailand.
There are many counter but always less than half are open thats the same in Thailand and after they complain why the long lines before the immigration they just don't know how to organise this what do they do? much more at:
In general a pretty well functioning construction with friendly people at immigration and custom. Outside the main building are airport taxis and limousines. This is the number one airport in the country the other international airport is at Mandalay. Most flights are Bangkok to Yangon City, other also from Kuala Lumpur, Singapore and destinations. Flights from China and other international airports are increasing.

► ABOUT CAMERADO
Camerado Movies and Media produces compelling and award winning movies, music and media of all kinds including: factual, scripted, documentaries, branded and web videos, 360 Videos, VR / Virtual Tours, and other interactive and digital media.
Our production effort has been in existence since 1996, when filmmaker, writer-director and educator Jason Rosette first began shooting the internationally acclaimed New York City urban documentary, 'BookWars' ('Terrific' - LA Times * 'Superb' - New York Film Critics Circle) At that time, Youtube wasn't even around! But you can see the Youtube version of 'BookWars' here at
A few years after the release of 'Bookwars', Camerado produced the '21st Century Cloning Road Movie', LOST in NEW MEXICO, one of the 1st indie films to be made in New Mexico, USA, after the introduction of state production incentives.
Again, Youtube wasn't around yet - or we woulda' show some clips and trailers before our release ;) The completed feature can be seen on Youtube at:
After producing that feature, Camerado founder, filmmaker Jason Rosette (jasonrosette.com), relocated to SE Asia to live with lower overhead while editing and completing 'Lost in New Mexico'
From 2005 to 2016, Camerado operated primarily in the ASEAN (SE Asia) region, while producing projects for NGOs, private sector businesses, and producing an ongoing range of independent films.
The internet was pretty shaky in Cambodia from 2005 to 2010 or so, and it was a challenge indeed to upload large movie files on a regular basis.
Camerado’s first movie on Youtube, 'The Commute', is a motorcycle POV driving to work through (then) busy Phnom Penh traffic. That DIY action cam film, preceding GoPro's appearance by half a decade, was uploaded in 2006 and can be seen here:

Myanmar (Burma)
Since 1992, the government has encouraged tourism in the country; however, fewer than 270,000 tourists entered the country in 2006 according to the Myanmar Tourism Promotion Board. Burma's Minister of Hotels and Tourism Saw Lwin has stated that the government receives a significant percentage of the income of private sector tourism services.
The most popular available tourist destinations in Burma include big cities such as Yangon and Mandalay; religious sites in Mon State, Pindaya, Bago and Hpa-An; nature trails in Inle Lake, Kengtung, Putao, Pyin Oo Lwin; ancient cities such as Bagan and Mrauk-U; as well as beaches in Ngapali, Ngwe-Saung, Mergui. Nevertheless much of the country is off-limits to tourists, and interactions between foreigners and the people of Burma, particularly in the border regions, are subject to police scrutiny. They are not to discuss politics with foreigners, under penalty of imprisonment and, in 2001, the Myanmar Tourism Promotion Board issued an order for local officials to protect tourists and limit unnecessary contact between foreigners and ordinary Burmese people.
The only way for travelers to enter the country seems to be by air.According to the website Lonely Planet, getting into Burma (Myanmar) is problematic: No bus or train service connects Myanmar with another country, nor can you travel by car or motorcycle across the border -- you must walk across., and states that, It is not possible for foreigners to go to/from Myanmar by sea or river. They do say that there are a small number of border crossings, but that these are limiting in that they do not allow travel into the country You can cross from Ruili (China) to Mu-se, but not leave that way. From Mae Sai (Thailand) you can cross to Tachileik, but can only go as far as Kengtung. Those in Thailand on a visa run can cross to Kawthaung but cannot venture farther into Myanmar.
Flights are available from most countries, though direct flights are limited to mainly Thai and other ASEAN airlines. According to Eleven magazine, In the past, there were only 15 international airlines and increasing numbers of airlines have began launching direct flights from Japan, Qatar, Taiwan, South Korea, Germany and Singapore. Expansions were expected in September 2013, but yet again are mainly Thai and other Asian based airlines according to Eleven Media Group's Eleven, Thailand-based Nok Air and Business Airlines and Singapore-based Tiger Airline.
Burma is home to four major language families: Sino-Tibetan, Tai--Kadai, Austro-Asiatic, and Indo-European. Sino-Tibetan languages are most widely spoken. They include Burmese, Karen, Kachin, Chin, and Chinese. The primary Tai--Kadai language is Shan. Mon, Palaung, and Wa are the major Austroasiatic languages spoken in Burma. The two major Indo-European languages are Pali, the liturgical language of Theravada Buddhism, and English.Wikipedia

'Secret Conversations' by 126ers
Yangon, Largest City of Myanmar
Yangon, formerly Rangoon, was the capital of Myanmar until it was replaced by Naypyidaw in 2005. Today, with a population of over 5 million people, it remains the largest city and the economic hub of Myanmar.
The city is an amalgamation of British, Burmese, Chinese, and Indian influences, known for its colonial architecture, which although decaying and beyond appreciation, remains an almost unique example of a 19th century British colonial capital. New high-rise buildings were constructed from the 1990s as the government began to allow private investment. Meanwhile, former government buildings have been left to rot as the capital is shifted to Naypyidaw. Yangon continues to be a city of the past, as evidenced by its longyi-wearing, betel nut chewing pedestrians, with their friendly or even familial attitude towards strangers, its street vendors, and its pungent smells.
Yangon's former name was not the only victim of change in this country. For one, the country's name was changed. To add to the on-going identity crisis, the city has been stripped of its status as capital. The nation's capital has been relocated to a remote new site called Naypyidaw, built from scratch.
Yangon is among the more exotic of SE Asian cities. On any walk down a typical street, you will see signs written mostly in local alphabet, wandering monks in burgundy robes, gilded pagodas, and abject poverty. Here, nearly everyone walks barefoot, indoors or out, their faces smeared with a concoction made from the extracts of a local tree, their smiles reddened by the blood-red juice of the betel nut.
The government retains its tight control over guests. Foreigners are required to register and their movements are tracked. But practices are changing rapidly as a result of the government's increasing openness to foreign trade.

Stepping Back in Time in Myanmar
Dramatic Myanmar (Burma) is an intrepid traveller's dream. This is a land where holy men clad in traditional longyi are revered, thousands of ancient, religious stupas rise out of flat plains and floating-village life ebbs and flows upon Inle Lake. For a glimpse of old Indochina, there isn't a more eye-opening destination than this mysterious country, which only began allowing Western travellers into its borders in recent years.
Experience the best of Myanmar, with Abercrombie & Kent, from tranquil Inle Lake to the thousands of stupas in Bagan, pausing to explore Shwedagon Pagoda with its shimmering gemstones; ascending Mount Popa, where you walk among the devout; and discovering the bustling Five Day Market as colorfully garbed locals procure their daily necessities.
Yangon, the country's largest city, is a beguiling mix of British, Burmese, Chinese and Indian influences, from its timeworn colonial architecture to its unique cuisine. In this deeply Buddhist country, pagodas pockmark the land, and some of the most impressive ones can be found in Yangon, including the Shwedagon Pagoda and the Sule Pagoda.
Travel to Mandalay, Myanmar's major commercial center, and explore sites such as the monastery-studded Mandalay Hill, a pilgrimage site for Buddhists for nearly two centuries. Perhaps the best way to experience both the romance of the colonial era and see the Burmese people's day-to-day realities is by cruising on the Ayeyarwady River - aboard the new 'Sanctuary Ananda' - all the way to Bagan, disembarking at temples and viewing life along the river.
If Yangon and Mandalay are Myanmar's capitals of culture and commerce, then Bagan is the country's spiritual center. Over 2,000 pagodas, stupas and temples dot the golden plains of Bagan - a once-in-a-lifetime sight to behold, best seen from above by private hot air balloon, which can be arranged by A&K Myanmar Travel. Other highlights include the Ananda Temple, the best-preserved in the city, and Mount Popa, a stunning volcano that doubles as an ancient Buddhist pilgrimage site.
