Burning Coal Theatre: Its Historic Location
Jerome Davis, Artistic Director, Burning Coal Theatre Company, on its start as an itinerant company, sharing spaces of local theaters including Thompson Theater at NC State, Manbites Dog and Kennedy Theatre at the Progress Energy Center for the Performing Arts. The historic Murphy School Auditorium in Raleigh had stood empty for the previous 31 years until renovated by Burning Coal, which now performs in the room where the city school board met in 1960 and voted to begin the desegregation of Raleigh schools.

Rotary Club of Raleigh Rotary Day 2014
The Rotary Club of Raleigh produced an original drama in collaboration with a theatre company to introduce the community to the values of Rotary.
For our Rotary Day observance we commissioned a script, by the 2012 Piedmont Laureate playwright Ian Finley, to highlight the values of Rotary International. We partnered with Burning Coal Theatre, a North Carolina state arts resource, to stage the play for an audience of approximately 200 people over its three day run. The Rotary Club of Raleigh is North Carolina’s oldest civic club and first Rotary Club, with a 100-year history that provided entertaining and inspiring scenes.
The play introduced the community to Rotary activities including the near extinction of polio, the building by the Club of a Habitat for Humanity House, the raising of $205,000 for the Rotary Club of Raleigh Dental Clinic, and the purchase of land for a Boy Scout Camp almost 90 years ago. Many in the audience, including Rotarians, said they had not known about all these accomplishments before. We also collected donations for End Polio Now at each performance. Our Rotary Day also gave visibility to the theatre that many attendees had not previously visited.
Numerous community organizations joined in to help present the play. Corporate donations provided LED flashlights for each audience member, and when the dialogue said Light Up Rotary! the entire theatre was filled with flickering points of light.
This video is three minutes of highlights from the 75-minute production. The play focused on the idea that, while Raleigh and Rotary have both changed, there is much that has not changed. The values of our community and the values emphasized by Rotary are a constant – a constant that built the community and keeps it strong as our Club begins its second century.
The script is available at and a 15 minute highlights video is at

HONORING WILLIAM SHAKESPEARE
Unquestionably the English language’s most influential playwright and arguably the greatest writer who ever lived, Shakespeare wrote an astonishing number of dramatic and poetic works during his lifetime. In addition to hosting the Shakespeare marathon, the NC Museum of History will display the First Folio of Shakespeare’s great tragedy Hamlet May 7-30, 2016. The First Folio was published in 1623, seven years after Shakespeare’s death. It is widely regarded as the best version of the play in existence. The exhibit is part of The Folger Shakespeare Library’s 2016 tour of its First Folio collection, titled First Folio! The Book That Gave Us Shakespeare! Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
Raleigh (; RAH-lee) is the capital of the state of North Carolina and the seat of Wake County in the United States. Raleigh is the second-largest city in the state, after Charlotte. Raleigh is known as the City of Oaks for its many oak trees, which line the streets in the heart of the city. The city covers a land area of 142.8 square miles (370 km2). The U.S. Census Bureau estimated the city's population as 479,332 as of July 1, 2018. It is one of the fastest-growing cities in the country. The city of Raleigh is named after Sir Walter Raleigh, who established the lost Roanoke Colony in present-day Dare County.
Raleigh is home to North Carolina State University (NC State) and is part of Research Triangle Park (RTP), together with Durham (home of Duke University and North Carolina Central University) and Chapel Hill (home of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill). The Triangle nickname originated after the 1959 creation of the Research Triangle Park, located in Durham and Wake counties, among the three cities and their universities. The Research Triangle region encompasses the U.S. Census Bureau's Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill Combined Statistical Area (CSA), which had an estimated population of 2,037,430 in 2013. The Raleigh metropolitan statistical area had an estimated population of 1,214,516 in 2013.
Most of Raleigh is located within Wake County, with a very small portion extending into Durham County. The towns of Cary, Morrisville, Garner, Clayton, Wake Forest, Apex, Holly Springs, Fuquay-Varina, Knightdale, Wendell, Zebulon, and Rolesville are some of Raleigh's primary nearby suburbs and satellite towns.
Raleigh is an early example in the United States of a planned city. Following the American Revolutionary War when the US gained independence, this was chosen as the site of the state capital ...

After a massive restoration, this beautiful historic theatre in Lumberton--dating back to 1928--features a stunning array of productions, including the holiday musical A Robeson County Christmas.
Hamilton: the musical (Animatic version)
EDIT: It's back yeah! WMG (the ones that owe Hamilton) allow this video to exist but they put a lot of adds so they can make money out of it.. I'm not happy with that since the artists should receive it but okay.. the big company wins once again.
So, I basically selected my favourites animatics for each song of Hamilton and I made this video, I really hope you'll all enjoy.
Credits are in the description and in the video
(the credits to all the artists are at the end of the video and in the description, just keep reading :D ).

This conference has been organized to address social justice from the perspective of design, emphasizing the importance of compassion in the design ethos, and with the goal of recognizing the contributions of African descendants to the design field and, by so doing, to broaden the definition of the designer. A series of conversations including students, faculty, and invited guests will consider design at the scale of the building, neighborhood, city, region, and globe.
