Baker's Tank Loop - Breckenridge
Known to locals as a classic loop just outside of downtown Breckenridge, Baker’s Tank is home to a mellow climb, fast downhill and just a taste of technical riding. An easy ascent along the dirt portion of Boreas Pass Road takes you to a hidden swath of singletrack that parallels the road from the hillside, descending through a dense pine forest along Baker’s Tank Trail before ending back at the bottom of Boreas Pass. For more information visit ExploreSummit.com/biking.
Aspen Alley - Breckenridge, CO
The term “roller coaster” gets tossed around with abandon in the mountain-biking world, but not every trail is worthy of the title. Aspen Alley lives up to the name and then some, taking riders on a loopy, whip-fast joy ride through a mix of pine trees and, of course, the must-see aspen groves. The trail also provides stunning views of Breckenridge Resort from start to finish. In 2015, the Breckenridge trail crew finished a series of trail improvements, inclduing mellow berms on the numerous switchbacks and natural-rock pavers on flood-prone sections. Snowshoeing through the days of yore in Breckenridge
Iowa Hill in Breckenridge is a fun snowshoe hike. There are many old mining artifacts along the trail like mining carts, blacksmith tools and a derrick, as well as an original miners' boardinghouse.

This paved rec path is a popular route for cyclists all summer long. It affords stunning views of the entire Tenmile Range and is a favorite of bike-bound commuters, with just enough of an uphill grade on the Frisco-Breckenridge route for a mellow after-work cycle.

Trail 691 out by Horseshoe (West of Fairplay, CO)
June 2011 - Scooping out trails. 691 is very difficult only experience riders need to apply. First off you will come to a very steep rocky section that is somewhat short and smooth out...so yeah struggle through it. Then you will come to a switch back, this video is shot to the right - the left was still snowed in. You will be above timberline, on an off canter sloop with a very steep drop. This too is very steep and traction is poor. You will reach a mine, and the route actually continues, we were tires and beat from an already long day and with the poor traction could not at this time fight to get the bikes up past the mine.
I'll have to revisit this area and get better video of the harder parts of the trail.

Breckenridge Open Space & Trails
Summit County has an extensive trail system. In Breckenridge, 80% of all houses are within a quarter mile of a trail access (over 120 trail access points in town).
You can hike with your dog after work or ride your bike on trail from here to the other side of the state.
Many of the local trails were built to access mines in the late 1800s. Since that time, many of the ditches, burro and cart paths, flumes and roads have been repurposed for recreational access.
The Town, County and U.S. Forest Service have been working cooperatively to create, connect and maintain this system.
We strive to connect different routes to establish multiple loop opportunities and new trails to bypass road sections. Recently, we have added 4-5 miles of new trail per year. The system is growing and improving annually. We sell hard copy trail maps at the Welcome Center and local outdoor stores. Or it is available for free on line (BreckenridgeTrails.org).
