A ride on the recently restored carousel. Includes music from the Wurlitzer band organ, also restored. I'm guessing they retrofitted to a sequencer from the original rolls they had when I was a kid in the late 1980s.

The Carousel at Bushnell Park in Hartford, CT
A 1914 carousel housed in a 24-sided pavilion with 48 hand-carved wooden horses and two lovers' chariots that swirl around a booming Wurlitzer band organ. The Knox Foundation brought the carousel to Hartford from Canton, Ohio, in 1974. Tracey Cameron, a Hartford resident, spent more than a year restoring the horses to reflect the same fury that Russian immigrants Solomon Stein and Harry Goldstein first carved into their faces in 1914.

Preserving a Downtown Treasure: The Bushnell Park Carousel
On September 14, 2018, the Bushnell Park Carousel was honored by the National Carousel Association for their preservation work, which was supported by a grant from the Hartford Foundation. After the restoration, the Bushnell Park Foundation began work on a new playground, which the Foundation helped fund. For more information about the playground, visit hfpg.org/bushnell
